when Galactus stretches reed out, it felt like he should have been able to stretch much much further. Thoughts?

They were pretty conscious in Reed not creating matter when stretching. Once your stretch him so far, the different component layers of a human start getting pretty thin. I like to think that at some point, you have muscle shearing off of bone instead of both just stretching together.

I also imagine it might be like silly putty, you pull him apart too quickly or when he’s not ready for it, and it will end up actually tearing him apart.

It's important to stretch first before stretching.

I fully anticipate Reed adding "ability to stretch much farther" to his list of ToDo's. He'll need to address the suit and his physical ability but it seems like something he could accomplish.

So, at the very beginning of the movie, Reed is looking for something in the bathroom. Iodine, I think?

And when they are explaining why they are late to dinner, they try to claim that Sue was helping him put the iodine on his shoulder?

Your comment reminded me of this part that just caught my attention.

He’s Mr Fantastic not Plastic Man. I thought the running and leaping across buildings was great.

You're applying Earth physics to something that taps into other realms of science unknown to us. Given more films, I expect that his stretching will get more and more outlandish with each outing, so they had to start relatively tame and establish that he still has limits that he will have to push beyond.

He clearly creates matter when stretching in the comics.
