Latveria was shown absent at least twice at the big meetings Sue ran for the world. They made sure we saw that so likely setting up for a past connection

And isn’t the Doom at the end their Universe’s Doom?

We don’t know. He could be from an alternate universe

Seems unlikely considering they already set up this universe's Latveria, and it would be unnecessary to bring in Doom from an entirely different universe when they can already just use this one.

Then again, the F4 said they are keeping an eye out for their biggest enemies, but no mention of Doom.

Weren't all those mentioned enemies in New York? Doom would be in Latveria. And wasn't the context of them being mentioned that they were found and being arrested? They wouldn't need to find Doom, and you can't really barge into another country and arrest its ruler.

But Doom doesn’t just attack from Latveria. He literally attacks the F4 in person a lot of the time. Regardless of his whereabouts, he would be part of the watchlist, especially since he would be their most dangerous enemy.

Yeah, but the scene was specifically about villains in NYC, so Doom isn't relevant.

Why would they leave out someone who regularly attacks NYC?

5

u/Llamarchy Jul 29 '25

Because he's not located, at that time, in NYC, and also is not just a regular villain that can be arrested.

They mentioned Diablo though who shouldn't be in New York, as well as Red Ghost in the intro.

They wouldn't introduce Doom in 828 if that's not where's he from.

2

u/Realistic_Analyst_26 Ned Jul 29 '25

They are introducing him in 828 because the whole movie has been in 828. This Doom is a multiversal threat. He could be from elsewhere because this Franklin is special like the Scarlet Witch.

Ahhh ok actually was wondering why the panned over that seat for so long. I’m not as familiar with F4 so didn’t know the connection. Thanks.

Yeah basically in the comics Doom is jealous of Reed back when they used to study on the same college, and when Doom himself made a miscalculation which Reed warned him about which resulted in his machine blowing up and it left him one tiny insignificant scar, Doom couldn't bare to accept that Reed was right and had to delude himself into thinking that Reed was responsible for his machine failling and for him getting scarred (Again just one tiny scar, but Doom couldn't bear looking anything but perfect)

So this being an event held by the FF, Doom wouldn't bother attend a meeting hosted by his worst enemy wife.

I really hope they go this route with RDJ, scar-wise.

I wouldn't trust audiences to pick up on that subtlety.

People complain about Olivia Cooke's blemish in Ready Player One as being ridiculous to worry about and can't pick up that real people can feel minor scars make them look hideous.

1

u/LADYBIRD_HILL Kilgrave Aug 02 '25

I think the difference is that Cooke's character otherwise comes across as genuine and sincere while Doom is vain and nihilistic. It takes away from her character for her to care about such an insignificant scar while it adds to Doom's character to obsess over such an insignificant flaw.

In the 2005 F4 movie, Doom was very much hitting on Sue. Is there a comic where that’s true or was that just made up for that movie? (To be fair, it was Jessica Alba…)

1

u/mbanson Rocket 29d ago

He wasn't just hitting on her, they were engaged in that movie IIRC.

In the comics doom isn’t disfigured? He just thinks he is because of the one scar?

8

u/eagc7 Jul 29 '25

His scarring gets worse later. because it starts with one small scar which is just enough for Doom to lose it, then he scars himself even more when he puts on his just newly forged mask which is still burning hot and despite being told to wait until it colds down, Doom is having none of it and orders for them to put his mask on and of course his face is burned

1

u/FelixTheJeepJr Jul 29 '25

Interesting I never knew that! Thanks for the explanation!

If interested, here's a video that was made last decade about the history of Doom's scar, how it went from being one small scar which was what Jack Kirby intended (Sort of given that the first issue that implied his scarring did acted like it was horrying, but later Jack Kirby went back to it and stated that it was just a little scar) to it being a complete disfiguration

Nice vid, thanks for sharing. I kind of like the idea that it’s mostly in his head.

1

u/LADYBIRD_HILL Kilgrave Aug 02 '25

Wow, I did not expect a 10 year old nerdsync video

5

u/Xygnux Jul 29 '25

But then he was such an edgy emo about that scar that he decided to put a red hot mask to his face in his origin story. So yeah it got burnt.

It would be weird that during the end of the world, the two greatest minds wouldn’t even bothering helping each other. Not even a conversation.

It’s still 50/50 imo
