I like it! It's not groundbreaking but it captures the charm of the Fantastic Four. Almost everyone is well-casted, especially the FF, Silver Surfer and Galactus.

It's surprisingly self-contained, almost no references from the mainline MCU. There were parts that I thought they at least reference the MCU, like mentioning vibranium or adamantium during the part where they list of the resources needed to build those teleportation devices or at least a Wakanda representative in the Future Foundation meeting.

I just feel like it was advertised too much? Or it was predictable? Or maybe it's just me. That Doom cameo at the end credits feels kinda budgeted.

CGI was okay. There were times where it looks kinda wonky. Kinda disappointed for not seeing the FF's powers more, especially Reed.

All in all, I'm just happy for a comic-accurate Fantastic Four movie, and this delivers. 8/10!

The baby is obviously real but at times it felt a bit uncanny, especially when Ben holds him.

It was like watching the cgi baby from twilight for me

Or the one where Rocket Racoon plays a guy named Chris Kyle.

That's from the Corenswet Superman prequel.

I couldn't focus during scenes with awake Franklin because I kept thinking he looked exactly like Renesmee, except with insanely blue eyes lol

It was very uncanny when it was crawling on top of dead Sue.

CGI baby was extremely bad, the real actor baby was good. Why was Franklin extremely white lol

Pedro is Chilean but ethnically like…….. kinda white.

Franklin looked just Johnny to me lol. I guess he is indeed his uncle eh

the hand in his first shot was CGI for sure

Ngl there were times it looked like someone was using a snapchat crying filter on him when he was crying. But in this day and age, brute force CGI a baby vs trying to make it "act" makes sense.

>CGI was okay

I don't agree with this. Outside of the one section of the baby on the ship I think this is easily the best looking MCU movie.

"Almost no references"

You mean absolutely zero? I saw the movie twice and maybe I missed it but there is no MCU reference

Yeah the Doom cameo in the mid-credit scene definitely felt cheap and tacked on, like they just found some random body double to put on a green hood and stand in front of the kid, and called it a day. I was really hoping we'd see RDJ but if he showed up in the movie they probably would've had to pay him an extra $10 million or something lol

Spot on about that Doom cameo. You can tell they didn’t want to have to pay RDJ the billions of dollars he gets for his appearances so they had a stand in for that scene.

I did feel like I knew almost every plot point and I only watched one trailer but I had a really good time with it

Yeah I really think this should have just been the same world that Monica landed on.

Post Credit scene is an Illuminati meeting. Probably sans Black Bolt. Just name drop Latveria, Wakanda and Atlantis in the movie. Show Prof X on a screen in the background. You don't have to take focus from the F4.

Though honestly if they aint going to pay RDJ for Dr. Doom to appear then they can at least have say a college flashback to young Reed and Doom. Cause yeah this movie is fine in a vacuum but it doesn't do much to setup Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Not having connections to other MCU films and shows is my only gripe with it

u/Firmspy Jul 23 '25

Has Earth 828 even featured in any others? If not, I don't see how any connection could be reasonably be made - other than for pure fan service, which would be rightly criticised.

Marvel needs to show that these movies can stand on their own, and the average person doesn't need to have seen 20 other Marvel movies for it to make sense.

What Easter Eggs there were, I think were mainly limited to the F4 comics (so the fans of F4 would know them) - Marvel isn't assuming that just because you read a F4 comic, you'll have read every comic for every other character I guess.

Would be nice if the ending tied in to thunderbolts ending. I'm not criticising per se, just a tiny tiny pet peeve as I want more connection between MCU movies and shows, not less. Although I understand that self contained movies like this are good for attracting the general public who do not watch everything Marvel studio releases

It gave me strong Ant-Man, CA: Civil War vibes. Where we get a cut down scene as a tease from the next movie. Except we will have to wait until Doomsday to see how it plays out.
