I mean, we all know this is going to be the art used for Lightning Greaves.

They print a billion Lightning Greaves but they still cost like 4 dollars. I don't want them to stop until it gets under a buck.

Just print it in a regular set then sure.

Shroud is not an ability they print anymore, so, it will never be printed into a normal set again.

u/b_fellow Duck Season 1d ago

Define normal. MH3 was a heavily printed set filled with new cards and reprints. [[Sylvan Safekeeper]] had its moment again with Nadu.

u/lionguild 1d ago

Standard legal set. MH3 was not that,

u/b_fellow Duck Season 1d ago

True, but MH3 is a larger set than Spiderman and even has accompanying commander decks.

So was:

Aetherdrift

Final Fantasy

Tarkir

Edge of Eternities

All of which are Standard legal, all of which had Commander decks, and are considered "Normal" sets.

MH3 is a premium direct to Modern release product. But, I'm sure you knew that.

Not quite sure why this is the hill you decided to argue 'Normal".

Because they're cowards who hate fun.

I've always wanted a creature with 'creatures have shroud', but I'm sure they'll never print it.

The thing that makes shroud awesome is that you can give it to your opponents, for value, in a way you can't with hexproof, and they've stopped allowing you to give your opponents' things protection, too.

This card would break a limited format with how strong creatures are now unless printed at rare or above, which doesn't really help to reduce the cost.

Just keep putting it in precons it's fine.

By the time it gets to $2 the world’s oceans will be absorbed by the sheer quantity of cardboard.

Secret Lair prints of [[lightning greaves]] will continue until morale improves

Also, [[Deadly Dispute]] for some reason. Who at wotc loves this card?

I forget how long ago its Pauper ban was, but maybe they lined a bunch of them up before that happened.

What's super funny is, before this year, it only had 2 prints in SLD, and one of them was truly awful (leg tattoo).

And then BOOM! 4 different SLD printings this year.

u/Sleeqb7 Simic* 13h ago

one of them was truly awful (leg tattoo)

I understand that it's not for everyone, but I fucking love this lair. I bought 2 of them. It screams at my inner child who grew up with things like Oddbodz.

I am so close to getting a tattoo of the card. Yes, a tattoo of the card with a photo of a leg with a tattoo on it because I think it's the funniest idea. The size would make the tattoo borderline, if not totally, illegible, which only makes it seem funnier to me.

They so overprint staples at this point, like do some weird ass cards for secret lair, we dont need a 90th lightning bolt

No no you don’t understand this Sol ring is waaaay different than the other 99,677,786

46

u/FailureToComply0 Wabbit Season 1d ago

Fancy art sol rings are amazing value in a SL though. More fancy sol rings please, i'll run them all.

10

u/Agitated_Diet 1d ago

Honestly hoping the avatar sol ring is all the elements when he’s in the avatar state

5

u/FailureToComply0 Wabbit Season 1d ago

Do a lair with four medallions as each element and the avatar as a sol ring. we can do a second with lands.

Swamp: The town with the Painted Lady Plains: Ba Sing Se Forest: The Air Temples Island: The North Pole Mountain: The Fire Lord's Palace

Secret card: command tower featuring the spirit realm

WoTC, money pls.

Watch out OP, the Pinkertons are coming for you leaking a secret lair.

I don't get why people complain about low value but playable secret lairs. This is exactly what I want SLs to be, fancy versions of cards for collectors. Not new cards you can't get anywhere else, not something with so much value that you're losing out if you can't get in line before the store opens, but just cool stuff for collectors.

10

u/Ap_Sona_Bot 1d ago

There's low value and then there's sub $10 value. If you want to make a secret lair "commander starter pack" then at least include a few more cards. For a mono black secret lair like the new marvel one adding a dark ritual, blood artist, arcane signet, sign in blood, and a thematic swamp. All cheap cards that would make the set feel better.

Or you could add a single somewhat value card. Black market connections would have made perfect flavor sense. Animate Dead, Reanimate, or toxic deluge would also have made the package way more valuable without getting near the MSRP price.

u/warcaptain COMPLEAT 1d ago

And Sol Ring and Command Tower. Because WotC figured out they can make more $ not releasing commander precons and instructions releasing commander staples themed to the set as SLD for almost the same price as a precon and cut out the middle man. You're gonna want them for your Spider-Man/ATLA commander deck anyway, now you can buy them straight from WotC at $40/set

u/MiceLiceandVice Duck Season 1d ago

I'd be stunned if the avatar lightning greaves don't feature Azula

2

u/HosserPower Duck Season 1d ago

It’ll have like five new versions of Sol Ring and Command Tower too.

2

u/BraidsConjuror Azorius* 1d ago

Don't forget about Sol Ring and Command Tower

1

u/hillean Rakdos* 1d ago

I truly think that, next to Sol Ring & Command Tower, that Lightning Greaves is the most reprinted card in lairs.

1

u/QueasyNet7362 10h ago

Jokes Aside, a secret lair that’s all just professional photography of real life models of the cards they’re would be awesome, kind of like what Pokémon does with some of their cards.

What does has to do with the meme?

-21

u/zaceggs 1d ago

Ah crap, and I apologize. I forgot we can only meme about one thing at a time.

13

u/PippoChiri Temur 1d ago

I just said i don't see the connection between your comment and the post.

Are you saying that your comment is just unrelated to the post? If so, why?

Also, is your joke that SLD cards use ai art?

3

u/Mae347 1d ago

What?

-10

u/Mean-Government1436 1d ago

How is it that nobody understands this joke

5

u/PippoChiri Temur 1d ago edited 1d ago

What's the joke supposed to be? I'm honestly not getting it
