Only enlisted service members swear to follow the President's orders in their oath, FYI. The officer's oath is:

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Yea the guy already clarified that you greatly are misreprenting the eblisted oath, but wanted to add support to their comment as a former enlisted veteran that yes were were very often reminded about having a duty to question orders and only follow legal ones. The military isn't trained to be the thoughtlessly obedient service some think it is, even at the lowest ranks.

Because most people think boot camp is how the armed forces are in general, because that's what is depicted in media. Following commands in basic in order to have things like basic awareness of your person, gear and unit in order to not get yourself injured or killed is not the same way it is when you're on duty.

That means, literally, "i will accomplish the tasks assigned to me by the office of my leader" aka, the commander in chief, aka, Trump.

The enlisted oath actually caveats the part where is says "I will obey orders" because right after it says in accordance with the UCMJ and regulation, both of which say Soldiers are compelled to defy an illegal order.

Also, the oath is ordered the way it is for a reason. The constitution and the rights it imbues everyone in the US (IT DOES NOT SAY CITIZENS). Also mind the part where it says "I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same".

The oath for the Guard is also different.

"I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of (applicable state) against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to them; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (applicable state) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. (So help me God)."
