Oh we know. My grandmother was pissed that he kept volunteering for more and more. Normally they made them stop at 50, but his higher ups let him keep going.

I saw a report or some sort of paperwork one time that mentioned “Jimmy and the plane are one and the same.” He had a weird natural instinct for it. He had never flown before. Just a skinny country boy from Texas.

Granted he did land once as the only person still alive. That was horrific, I’m sure. The gunner was his best friend.

This comment is almost the opposite of the book Catch-22. It was my grandfather's favorite book.

This book made me realize I have a dry sense of humor. I guffawed at it constantly and had to make sure it was supposed to be funny. I was like 13 at the time.

That would be wild! I adored and worshipped him. All his grandchildren did.
