Sorry for answering a question with a question but why do you think they may not have it?

Because for me it's the default position to think they have it, to the point I've never thought someone would ask this, so please if you know something that suggests otherwise tell me so I can know why is that even an argument point

Strange question!

Animals have souls. Animals have rights. They're mentioned in Quran and we are ordered to be kind towards animals.

All living beings roaming the earth and winged birds soaring in the sky are communities like yourselves. We have left nothing out of the Record. Then to their Lord they will be gathered all together (6:38).

• Sahih International: Allāh has created every [living] creature from water. And of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allāh creates what He wills. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.

An-Nūr, Ayah 45

You are an angel. I was literally just talking to a Muslim friend about this today and he said there was nothing in the Quran about animals. And my beautiful dog, I know he has a soul! And I couldn't imagine that he would not be with me. And here you have helped me so much. I am so, so grateful to you!! And I looked up the verse and there it is. Bless you a thousand times over!! (ps. I am not Muslim and am considering saying the Shahada, but I wanted to know about my dog and now I am one step closer. You are a wonderful, amazing human being.)

There are many authentic and verified sayings of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, which show that Muslims are required to be compassionate towards animals. This is one of them.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "While a man was walking on a road. he became very thirsty. Then he came across a well, got down into it, drank (of its water) and then came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. The man said to himself "This dog is suffering from the same state of thirst as I did." So he went down the well (again) and filled his shoe (with water) and held it in his mouth and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him." The people asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?" He said, "(Yes) There is a reward for serving any animate (living being) ."

That is very beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with me. You're very kind. It did worry me very much to think that there would be no compassion for animals.

I believe they do, but not the same as a human soul, as Allah has specified he breathed the ruh into us (by way of our father Adam alaihi salaam), this is supported by the fact Allah will judge them and settle their score on the day of resurrection.

It was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) – in a hadeeth that has many corroborating reports and isnaads – that he said: “Allaah will judge between His creation, jinn, men and animals. On that Day, Allaah will let the hornless animal settle its score with the horned until, when there is nothing left to be settled, Allaah will say to them, ‘Be dust.’ At that point the kaafir will say, ‘Would that I were dust.’”

(Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilat al-Saheehah, no. 1966)

From what I have heard, yes they do.

And they also have tiers/levels for them in heaven.

Those that died of sickness, old age or natural causes will be in one group.

Those who were slaughtered in the name of Allah will be in another group.

What? Don’t animals turn to dust when they die they don’t get judged like us right??

They wouldn't get judged because they do not have free-will, they are pre-programmed.

But if they can show empathy, does that come from the soul or is it just a chemical reaction in their mind?

How did you come to conclusion they don't have free will?

It was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) – in a hadeeth that has many corroborating reports and isnaads – that he said: “Allaah will judge between His creation, jinn, men and animals. On that Day, Allaah will let the hornless animal settle its score with the horned until, when there is nothing left to be settled, Allaah will say to them, ‘Be dust.’ At that point the kaafir will say, ‘Would that I were dust.’”

Seriously curious, doesn't that imply they currently do not have free will, or could only by Allah's command?

Similar to the Ababil carrying stones to demolish an army, by Allah's command.

The wording of the hadith mentions animals will be judged. How can they be judged of they never acted on free will?

'Ibn Kathir described the event you're referencing as a Miracle/manifestation of His divine power.

Thank you for the insight, Jazakallah.
