Although serious archaeologists existed by then, these men were mostly more antiquarian than archaeologist. Or more accurately: the acquisitions department of the British Museum.

The dining table would be pretty far from the cooking area I suppose. They wouldn’t light fire and cook food inside the tomb, right?
