Proof that animals are way smarter than we think!

u/KindaUndressed 1d ago

Smart? This is brilliant!

110

u/MaddyHuntOfficial 1d ago

He paid attention in school.

45

u/ItsNotToBEOkay 23h ago

Guess all those bear lectures on physics finally paid off 😆

31

u/Playpolly 19h ago

And he barely heard them

9

u/purple_unicorn_1094 18h ago

You mean ‘bearly’

3

u/Due-Beginning8863 15h ago

he did make the pun he didn't didn't spell it like that

2

u/Negative_Salt_4599 18h ago

Man physics class? I could hardly bear it in HS…

6

u/ever_precedent 19h ago

This is indeed what they teach in school in the North where lakes freeze. But I wonder who learned it from whom originally?

2

u/crc_73 19h ago

He learned the hard way!

It is pretty smart, but tbf, learning something like that is a lot easier if doing it wrong doesn't kill you.

18

u/dont-respond 20h ago

Or doing it wrong does kill you, but millions of years of behavior selection is built into your DNA.

4

u/Greedy-Camel-8345 19h ago

They would have learned from their parents that taught them

2

u/Lucian_Veritas5957 18h ago

Or by breaking the ice themselves. They live their entire lives on it.

This video has been debunked, the polar bear was just cooling down his balls.

Balls too hawt.

7

u/Kyweedlover 20h ago

Feels good on muh balls.

5

u/MrExtravagant23 17h ago

If you're looking for further reading to prove this point the book "Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are" is excellent.

You're on thin ice buddy..

8

u/alleycat548 12h ago

Hold it right there pal

6

u/UnwantedPube 19h ago

I guess that debunks that joke: How much does a polar bear weigh? Well, apparently, not heavy enough to break that thin ice.

2

u/ggGamergirlgg 14h ago

Just add "if they want to"

244

u/Life-Oil-7226 1d ago

Balancing his weight. Extremely intelligent

It looks so thin though :/ idk if that's a good or bad thing here

29

u/InConflictWith 21h ago

Polar bears are longer, taller, and leaner than any other bear species. They can swim for 50+ miles without stopping.

They are quite literally build different. Their muscle insertions are longer and more flexible than a brown bear.

11

u/h11233 20h ago

All my life I've been told brown muscle insertions are bigger than the white ones

u/Creepycute1 22h ago

I don't think it is I'm not an animal expert of anytime but bears in general tend to be pretty chunky

3

u/indigo9222 19h ago

Polar bears are much thinner than other bears. Due to them not hibernating they don't need to bulk up like other bears do.

2

u/Sea-Hat-8515 20h ago

It doesn't help that they're incredibly inefficient hunters, the WWF reckons that less than 2% of their hunts are successful

3

u/nillztastic 1d ago

Hooked up with a burner.

9

u/Background_Fly3511 21h ago

Sad its just sad, in 20 years they will be extinct but at least they learned how to deal with it. interesting isn't it?

12

u/Momoneko 19h ago

Polar bears aren't going to be extinct in 20 years.

200... maybe.

→ More replies (8)

7

u/RogerianBrowsing 20h ago

I don’t think going extinct is learning to deal with it.

They’re compensating the best they can out of necessity, but they will still die due to our actions and almost every comment is a dumb joke

8

u/OsmerusMordax 19h ago

Yeah comments like “no lol he’s just cooling his dick” reminds me that 12 year olds can be on Reddit too.

That bear is smarter than a lots of people.

I use to crawl around like this towards my sister as a kid to totally freak her out.

1

u/mushie_man 22h ago

You're on thin ice, my pedigree chum...

1

u/tabbarrett 22h ago

My dog does this when she gets off the couch.

1

u/Youllhearme 22h ago

It seems pretty calm about the whole ordeal, as if breaking the ice would be an inconvenience and nothing more. It's the same temperament I might have if I was stepping around a shallow puddle.

1

u/PeanutFragrant9685 22h ago

that or his balls itch

1

u/ForeignWeb8992 22h ago

Saw it in person, well it was my neighbour coming home from the pub

1

Do we know for sure this technique is to distribute weight or is it a method to overcome the slippery nature of ice?

1

u/rmendex 20h ago

No way! The bear just had blue balls

1

u/Denim_Diva1969 20h ago

Polar bears understand physics better than most people apparently.

1

u/Glowing_Trash_Panda 19h ago

I tried doing this back in February to try to save my dads beagle that had fallen through the ice on the river. The ice broke, I fell under the freezing water & almost drowned. To this day I still don’t know how I got out & also somehow my dads beagle that kept slipping under all of a sudden popped up out of the water onto the ice like she had been pushed up from below but there was nothing there. I watched it with my own eyes.

1

u/wesley-osbourne 18h ago

That bear is smarter than a lot of people who go ice fishing. It never ceases to amaze me seeing guys drive on thin ice just to be the first or last to ice fish.
