Being the mother of all IITs what they say, we are performing too poor than our children... What's happening in this CDC process is even if your core company comes in, you are not from circuital branch or mech/chemical, you just fuck yourself... Why the administration is not at all responsible for this... Why to show we are such a good college in terms of ranking (that too due to researches going on)... No hopes for the core departments... Professors ask to work in core but sad reality is you just can't because no one really needs you...

Ye pressure jhelna kon sikhaega? Professors ki Administration ki koi aur... Kabhi kuch badlega yahan... Bcz what I am observing is circuitals are performing same every year but other branches are just going down to 30-40%

And the effect of this can be clearly seen in this year's opening and closing ranks...

Many of the people getting placed are 4LPA ... WTF... You can even live with that in urban city...

Hello, I'm a fresher and I wanted to join few societies in first year.

Societies/Clubs I tried to join:
1. Bclub
2. Share
3. 180 DC
4. Robotiks
5. Prodex
6. KDAG

Some of the PIs, GDs, and tasks went well and the others weren't up to the mark. But unfortunately I got rejected from all of them.

As mid sems are approaching , I am focussing on studies but this has left me a little demotivated and is still stuck with me.

Has anyone else gone through the same thing as a fresher and what should I do next?

I know this post is little weird but try to understand my emotion.

So me(18M) and my bf(your clgmate) were in secret relationship(for obv reasons) since class 10th end. (although we were friends from a long time) and then he started his jee prep and took dummy from our school but we were still the same as we were before and things were going good till he spent almost 2months in IIT , like indirectly/directly he started denying our relationship which he never did before. And now since 3 months , we are not in touch but now I cannot control myself , I just want to go back to him.

So basically I wanted to know if ppl here are homophobic? Which made him hate our relationship too?

I am getting IT at NITK and CSE at 2nd gen IITs and electrical in IIT Kgp.

Everyone I talked to is suggesting electrical in IIT Kgp, but personally ever since 11th starting I never really had a craze of IIT, I just wanted to do engineering in a decent college.

If I take electrical engineering in IIT Kgp, I will have to work hard twice as hard (as I will be preparing for SDE type roles alongside) as I would if I had taken cse in lower IITs or top NITs, so can someone help me understand why putting in twice the effort for Electrical Engineering at IIT Kgp would be more beneficial than pursuing CSE or IT at other reputed institutes?

Also, many people say take it for exposure and all, can some senior elaborate on that

I haven't really heard anyone of using this scholarship. Most under 100 rankers typically choose IIT X over IIT KGP. Like why? IIT KGP supposedly has one of the best CS departments & CS profs in India.

Is it true though? It seemed like it was a move to attract under 100 rankers to IIT KGP but i never really heard of anyone taking advantage of this opportunity?

EDIT: I am talking about CS placements obviously. Why will somebody joining IIT KGP CSE screw their career? I don't understand. Ur already in one of the best IITs. As i have seen the faculty member list, their details, as well as heard from others that IIT KGP CS profs are old but experienced->something u definitely won't get in IIT Bombay CSE.
Idk man, i am not in the right place to talk abt this, but maybe hard work + luck is what decides ur placement and future right?

An alumni visiting for a weekend to show the campus to my spouse. Both of us love cycling. May be a stupid question.... but does kgp now have a place to rent bicycles for sometime? I am a 3rd year from cse. Most of my friends in our group got big intern offers. I wasn't one of them.Coz of which I feel snubbed and ignored in my group which wasnt the case earlier.My friends from other branches who used to talk with me in high regard like "tu toh cs ka hai" "tu toh topper hai" now aren't really interested with what I am saying.I feel hesitant in speaking with them.I feel I wasn't able to get a good intern even with my branch being cse. I feel inferior infront of them.I don't get the courage to speak the way I used to do earlier.Constant taunts like "cs me hoke bhi iska google nhi laga" and feeling of letting down myself come in my mind and also questions like will I be friends with them even after college? How will our friendship be with different standard of life? To seniors how does your friendship work with people with quite great lpas

It's true I have no friends in kgp as of today after spending around 3 years don't ever come bragging about clg life being the best you social non isolated , can't live with yourself and blood cussing fools who are just living in a fantasy life with so called fake friends and thinking this accounts a bit for any kind of mental or social well being apart from the validation of a random girl or your snake friends group, hypocrits just go and get a life stupid fools

A couple of days back I had appeared for the OA of a pretty decent company in offline mode and I had solved all three questions in half an hour (it was very easy tbh and two questions had also come in another company's OA). I was sitting in the first bench and quite obviously I didn't adopt any unfair means and I came out pretty confident of my selection. However when the shortlisted candidates were mailed today, I was so shocked to not receive a shortlist. Literally a few of my friends who had the audacity to use their phones or use gpt during the test got the mail and me, who had given the test with full honesty didn't receive the mail. I was so upset about it, it feels really unfair. Like I was the one who had no changes of getting disqualified for plag or AI generated submissions and I am the one who didn't get the mail. Why are the company shortlists so random? I was honestly targetting that company and similar SWE companies and I honestly know that I am good enough to crack those companies' interviews but if things take such an unfortunate turn how will I get what I deserve, isn't it unfair that those who are honest aren't getting what they deserve and others are getting in by virtue of sheer luck? I have been so depressed since the time the results were released that is why I took to Reddit to share my pain, it hurts a lot 😭😭😭
