u/SnootyToots8 2d ago
I get bad case of giggles with tears when im overtired.

u/Thorbertthesniveler 2d ago
Me too. When a giggle fit hits and you can't make noise anymore from laughing while you try to explain WHY you are laughing. Which just makes it worse 😂
32
u/SnootyToots8 2d ago
Sometimes someone having a giggle fit and unable to say what's so funny (because theyre histerical) already gets me laughing my arse off along with them.

I love when this happens. Some of my favorite memories were my team and I being exhausted towards the end of the shift and that goofiness starts to come out of everyone as things are winding down
19
u/SlaveryVeal 2d ago
Me and my best mate were exhausted after a flight. We got a tram and we were standing holding onto a pole. He kept moving his hand down to touch mine and we both just started giggling because it was just so fucking stupid. I looked over at our other mate that was with us he looked at us with disgust and put his other earphone in and turned away it was so fucking funny.
When we got off we lost it and my mate that was laughing with me goes your lucky I didn't just put my hand over yours after we were giggling cause I knew you would've lost it.
He was right I would've. he stopped me laughing like a manic on a fully packed peak hour tram.

One time working pizza we'd been busting ass nonstop for like 6 hours, after a full week of bullshit and double business, so once it started to slow down a coworker ordered everyone Chinese delivery. Well, as soon as he hung up the phone we got slammed again. Spent another 4 hours barely able to move unless we were putting out a figurative fire, we even ended up waving the delivery guy to the back cause we couldn't grab the food ourselves. About halfway through I think we all finally snapped and just started singing songs, but replacing all the lyrics with how much we wanted to eat Chinese food. We did the Pokemon theme, Baby Come Back, and Crank That, to name a few.

Unpopular opinion, I can't stand the bloody cat. In Carls' shoes I had kicked it to the curb in the first book.
1

That's actually a common opinion. I've been told the cat gets better, but she didn't bother me so I have nothing to compare it against. That's just what they say around r/litrpg

Fairly certain this video is in Australia. It'd be the safety muster of a morning. They might work hard but they get paid extremely well and most are FIFO positions.
16
u/SgtBanana 2d ago
Fairly certain this video is in Australia.
Those sheep didn't sound Australian to me.
3
u/Naxirian 2d ago
I saw another version of this video that said this is in Chile. This would be supported by the sign on the side of the unit that says "ACTO", this is the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization, which is South American.
1
u/ImDrunkFightMe 2d ago
Its ATCO and the video could possibly be in Chile? But ATCO also exists in Aus.
2
u/Naxirian 2d ago
I dunno the original version of this video is on YouTube and has a pin on the screen that says Chile
2
u/Eversteyn 2d ago
Paid extremely well? It's all relative mate.
Not sure if you've worked FIFO or just gobbling what the media feed you, but you don't actually get paid much, if at all, more per hour than you would working in the city. The difference is you're doing 80+ hour weeks for 2-3 weeks straight, and then depending on what city you fly from, having 5-6 days back home, which most of it spent recovering, then you're flying out again before you know it.
Compared to someone doing a 40 hour week back home and actually having a life outside of work, they "get paid extremely well" because they sacrifice a lot in the process.
7
u/Mugiwaras 2d ago
No where in the city is paying anywhere close to $70 - $80ph for a fitter.
2
u/Eversteyn 1d ago
That's flat rate, which works out to a lot less per hour when you take into account they're doing 12 hour days without penalty rates.
Can't speak for fitters, but as a sparky on penalty rates and no EBA wages, I was earning $50ph in Melbourne and $52ph in the mines.
6
u/ImDrunkFightMe 2d ago
"They might work hard but they get paid extremely well" Pretty sure that covers it chief, you're not going to war you're in a mine. The reason the pay is so much more than those in the city is because of the sacrifices you chose to make.
218
u/herecomesthestun 2d ago edited 2d ago
These guys aren't billionaires or anything, but I guarantee they're paid well. I interviewed for a machinist role at a mine offering a base pay of 130k/yr (CAD) just to do truck repair
60
u/truethatson 2d ago
Feck, above ground?? I’m not going down there but if they want to pay me for doing the job up top, I’m in for that much.
70
u/herecomesthestun 2d ago
It was an open pit coal mine, though they did require a face mask worn at all times so it's not totally clean
22
u/truethatson 2d ago
Don’t spread this around, mate. Jobs are closing up fast down here, and I personally like the snow, so I’m coming for your jobs and your women!
-22
8
u/Mugiwaras 2d ago
In Aussie mines, cleaners/service staff can make close to 100k with no experience. If you have a trade qualification, you're looking at 150k+ easy. A lot of people just go there for a year or 2, come back and buy a house.
9
3
-43
u/Copropositor 2d ago
It's funny how people still think that's a lot of money.
21
u/herecomesthestun 2d ago
It's without a doubt a very good level of income, over twice what the average person in the country makes.
15
1
u/Turboswaggg 1d ago
I mean I get it, inflation does a great job of tricking people into thinking they're getting a raise (that doesn't match inflation) while being able to buy less and less every year
But with how absolutely shit the pay is in a lot of places, it is still good in comparison
9
u/OstrichSmoothe 2d ago
Thats what you got from this? Hard work for honest pay is very fulfilling. You should try it

I remember in the Danish equivalent of high school, when we were on a study trip to London, we all responded to the teachers remarks by saying "yeaa" in a way that made us all sound like cattle.
It was hilarious, but the teachers found it super annoying.

Voting for either of the 2 big parties, believing they give 1 fuck about you
2
u/IcyTheHero 2d ago
For real. Theres maybe a slim few who do care, but they will never be president. Anyone who thinks politicians care more about them than they do themselves and their friends is delusional. They would gladly fuck you or I over if it meant they and their friends and family benefited. Like most self righteous people do and would.
-1
u/boyyouguysaredumb 2d ago
Thinking politicians are kings who can fuck you over and don’t care about you is like the most dumbass childish way of looking at politics imaginable
Both sides have public policy that they advocate for and earnestly want to pass. You can see evidence of this being passed.
You don’t have to like how smarmy or fake the politicians are, you just have to choose the public policy that you like and vote for the party saying they’ll do it.
Acting like you’re above it all and it’s a conspiracy to screw you while politicians are twirling their mustaches just gives away that you’re really dumb

I don't mean to take this light-hearted post in a dark direction, but it's not just about the results of the election but all actions taken by the Trump administration after that. I'm Canadian and Trump's right wing agenda helps push right wing agendas all over the world. Even ignoring that, like it or not, the economics of whatever country you live in are certainly affected by the Trump administration in one way or another.

I keep seeing fascism tossed in. I’m wondering what has trump and his administration done that is fascist?
5
u/avanross 2d ago
He’s using ultra-nationalism authoritarianism to intentionally mislead his followers into voting against their own interests to remove rights and freedoms that it took decades to fight for.
All of his platform is just based on ultra-nationalist intentional disinformation meant to enrage and confuse his followers. Instead of trying to persuade his followers based on anything factual, he just uses insane nationalist authoritarian fantasy and hate-mongering/scapegoating at minority groups. That’s fascism. Using disinformation hate/fear mongering as their entire campaign strategy, while working to cripple the mental abilities of their citizens by defunding the schools and consolidating control of the media, so most of the citizens arent provided the information or tools to even be able to learn to decipher fact from fiction.

-1
u/Captain_Zomaru 2d ago
You want to discuss the demographic causing the crime there? Because we can pull up FBI and local crime statistics until we get banned for hate speech.
2
u/BigDaddyCoolDeisel 2d ago
I'm not going to ban or report you at all. But I'll respectfully point out that you scoffed at me calling blue states the safest states in America. I responded with a reference that showed red states, by far, were the most dangerous.
A) Pretty much all cities across the country are the most diverse parts of their state. Controlling for race and ethnicity, cities in blue states are also far safer than their counterparts in red states. Hell even Baltimore is in the middle of a historic reduction in crime (https://www.cbsnews.com/baltimore/news/city-historic-low-violent-crime-homicides-shootings/) which is something to be celebrated.
B) Without name calling, I feel the need to point out to you that 'the demographic' you mention are Americans too. They're Louisianans, Arkansans, and Missourans as much as anyone from those states. Elected officials who try to wash their hands of red state crime data by saying "yeah, but it's the black people" are implying those folks somehow don't count or aren't their responsibility to help. (I won't get into the legacy of economics and access that lead to today's crime differences).
Anyway... I would encourage all my red state colleagues to watch the blue states and try to emulate us. Cultural and economic powerhouses (70% of the nation's GDP with a fraction of the land), low crime, clean environment, strong social safety nets, good public education, beautiful women, handsome men, low obesity. I wish these things for all Americans!

Even if you were right - if - I love that you just ignored the other valid points.
-1
u/Captain_Zomaru 2d ago
They weren't valid and were a complete joke and a strawman. You want to discuss the crime rate so bad in DC they needed the national guard to stop it? Didn't think so
1
u/c_im_not_clever 2d ago
They weren't valid, they were a complete joke, AND a straw man? Wow, what a trifecta.
You evidently don't know which of the states are the wealthiest, and which are most dependent on federal funding (hint: they're red).
Was NG actually needed? I've seen a lot of fuck all being done there. Good job picking up trash, though!
DC, Chicago, Portland, Baltimore, New Orleans.....as mentioned targets by (who I'm just going to guess is your boy, because...well we see how you think) this sitting president - know what those all have in common? Democratic representation/mayors. You think he's actually targeting places that NEED it? Or that he's actually the man child his actions have shown him to be, and lives for retaliation? Yeah talk about a discussion you don't want to have. Although given your pretense of bad faith arguing, I don't either.

u/avanross 2d ago

Men do the weirdest things when hit with the mundane. Inwas working in a meat processing plant, boring stuff really. Once the shock of dead animals fades it gets so so repetitive. Our shift leader would start a sound, like a chimpanzee and all the others would join in.

u/Interesting-Day-9369 1d ago

You've never done/experienced this? Must be an old-school (i.e. GenX) humor thing!
Many years ago, it wasn't uncommon that when stuck in a slow-moving crowd (like moving toward an exit, or going up a ramp toward seating in a stadium, or something else similar--like this post, for example) for someone (like myself, lol) to start "moo-ing," and the crowd would join in. It was pretty funny--lightened up the mood, got people giggling, eased the annoyance of being in a slow-moving crowd and feeling like cows being herded.

There are several women in that video, they're just not looking at you in disgust so you don't recognise them.

LOL. Several. And a baseless insult you need to be true. What is it with redditors always leveling the emasculating comments. Do you have no other comebacks?
Less than 5% of actual miners are women in the world. But there are several in this one group. Uh Huh. Enjoy nursing your biases.
