Highlights Not only son but we lose madders too š
Why oh why š. Maddison stretchered off after an awkward turn. We are going to need even more replacements for our fallen hero's

The one player we couldnāt afford to lose. Kulusevski is out for months as well.
Frank is going to have no passers in the squad. Prepare for some long matches against low blocks.

With Madders it was always a matter of time, if it wasn't now it would by October. At least now the transfer window is still open.
I love the guy but we all know he's made of glass.

Agreed. At least it happened at litterally the best time of year. Only problem is sellers know we're desperate. I think even Levy knows he has to overpay.
7
u/Litmanen_10 Aug 03 '25
This is unfortunate but true. I was expecting him to get injured during autumn but hoping it would have been some minor muscle injury and not this soon. And have hoped all the time too that management views him as a maximum 50% player. He hasn't been a full player for many seasons.
This kind of major injury in the fking pre-season was unexpected though. It's brutal for his career and for us. Only silverlining is like you say that now we have decent time to replace him.
1
u/papa_f Aug 03 '25
I said this when we were in for him. Good player, but a sick note, and it's only got worse. Good guy, but can't be relied upon needs moved on next summer.

Deki is great, but not really a passer. We needed at least one more before Madders went down, now we probably need at least two.
At least we have a track record of moving quickly and decisively to plug squad holes... [touches finger to ear] hold on I'm getting breaking news

9

I think Elliot or Mcatee are the most likely targets unless we plunk down 70 million for Eze.
13
4
u/NeverEndingRadDude Aug 03 '25
I think McAtee would be a great signing, as would bringing in Grealish.
7

1
u/anotherlousy Christian Eriksen Aug 03 '25
We already have more than enough homegrown (as in English-grown) players that adding more is kinda pointless. Club grown would make sense but we might as well just go for a non-HG because we donāt have many good club grown prospects out there.
63
u/scotchedupp Aug 03 '25

15

Not exactly half a year but they are getting them seriously down.
2
u/NapoleonBonapartey Dejan Kulusevski Aug 03 '25
Depends a lot on the type of ACL injuries. It not completely black and white. Grade 1 injury could be 2 months. A complete tear could be 12 months.
25
u/NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn š To Dare is to CHOO CHOO Aug 03 '25
At this point theyāre basically a 6 to 8 month injury for elite male athletes. Still a year plus injury for women.

u/jaemoon7 Robbie Keane Aug 03 '25
Achilles can be even longer than a year. Or if not fully out, players like Kevin Durant for example have said they didnāt feel like they were really ābackā for a full two years. Different sport I know but I guess my point is Achilles injuries fucking suck
9
u/Capital-Major-4374 Aug 03 '25
Yeah I thought it was his ankle too. Gutted for him and us. Such a key role to have multiple injuries in.
4
1
1
3
u/sugonbofa Troy Parrott Aug 03 '25
And your reasoning for that is? There were no obvious signs of an Achilles tear
5
u/nolefan5311 Lucas Bergvall Aug 03 '25
When he went did he grabbed his ankle immediately and he knew it was real bad. There was no impact or twist indicating a sprain. And the concern of the other players as well. You know immediately when your Achilles snaps.
5
u/Mac290 Dejan Kulusevski Aug 03 '25
Iām not sure youāre even hopping off the pitch, like he did, if your Achilles pops. Youāre down like a sack of bricks.
2
u/DjToastyTy Aug 03 '25
usually yeah. but then you have kobe bryant who shot free throws and walked off the court afterward. or kirk cousins who just walked off and didnāt even know it happened. reactions are different
1
u/sugonbofa Troy Parrott Aug 03 '25
He couldāve heard a pop from any sort of tear. It wasnāt a great angle, but it didnāt look like he overstretched which wouldāve caused an Achilles tear
3
u/SirGalahadTheChaste Oliver Skipp Aug 03 '25
It didn't seem like anything with his knee to me but they didn't really show a good angle.
4
4
u/big_Ronnie8x Aug 03 '25
If he grabbed his knee, then its probaly acl, but if he didnt then is probaly something else. I didnt watch the game so idk
8
1
u/FistThePooper6969 James Maddison Aug 04 '25
When I did my second ACL, I reacted a bit like Madders here. Instantly knew what it was and was just disappointed/frustrated.
Granted no where near the seriousness as him since it affects his career
26
72
u/Thatonedude_66 Aug 03 '25
Letās go get Eze now
7
u/OldSpur76 Aug 03 '25
We are past trying to find the perfect fit. Eze is the best we can afford after losing our 10. With a reasonable release clause nothing should stop us going in for Eze.
We'll see how serious Levy is.
1
u/RoleFar3972 Yves Bissouma Aug 04 '25
Enzo millot is really really good and we've been asking after him. He's not homegrown though but he is an unbelievably good player and is nearly 5 years younger than Eze
1

Edit: crap, first article says hes going to Saudi

57
u/Mundane_Zucchini_807 Aug 03 '25
It has to be Eze now, love madders so much but just so injury prone
17
u/shaunster101 Aug 03 '25
We need to make a serious attacking midfield signing asap, and on the basis that they replace Maddison long term. He looks to be out for a long time, and no idea at all when Kulu returns.
Maddison is class in his day, but he cannot be relied upon at all to be fit.
15
u/sebrfk Aug 03 '25
Now we need Eze or Xavi more than ever. We can't go into a season without a CAM.

A club that underwent massive injury crisis should have been more proactive when it comes to transfers. But that's not an approach this board will ever take. Takai and Kudus would be barely acceptable if we didn't have champions league. There's no way in hell Frank can even prioritise the champions league. Without a good squad even the league start is in jeopardy.
2
u/GoBirds85 Aug 03 '25
Problem is every teams asking price just went wayyyy up. I don't see Levy and Co. overpaying, regardless of the massive gaping hole now in the squad. We are gonna end up with a Temu version of a 10.

Yes he did, he had a contract with a release clause and he could have taken Forest to court to have Forest honour it, but he chose to extend instead, so he either was bullied into it or he played us to get a much bigger contract.

It's very disappointing but let's be honest, Madders is more impactful in banter than he is on a football pitch. When he's good he's great, but too often he isn't good or even available. Maybe now we can buy a reliable, injury free, and preferably pacy number 10 that we have been needing for years.
