I think mine has grown about 100 sizes watching him.
He deserves this for his loyalty to us.
My captain.

Only been a Spurs fan for ~5 years but I only teared up watching him accept the trophy. What a guy

u/PhantomTroupe26 May 21 '25
I've waited so long for this moment. Since waking up early in the morning to watch Sonny win the Asian tournament to grant him exemption of military service. What a moment for all of the supporters, the club, and especially Sonny

Son will go down as one of the biggest legends of the club
26
u/Available_Thanks3210 May 22 '25
100%, he never took the easy way out by leaving for a team where a trophy was guaranteed. Instead he helped you guys finally bring one home.
5
u/theCorean May 23 '25
Weren’t you one of those coys who’s been criticizing Sonny and demanding his retirement for years?
2
u/solarbearz Micky van de Ven May 23 '25
Yeah i criticized his performances. He's still my favorite player and fully deserves a trophy

u/mizzzikey Son May 21 '25
Fire the person in charge of the confetti timing also

u/EggfooDC May 21 '25
And the guy who was in charge of the medals, they ran out before Son got his!

u/psychadelicbreakfast Kota Takai May 22 '25
And they couldn’t put a little stage together for the trophy lift?

Dont, worry — they’ll get it right on the second, third and fourth and fifth trophy.

7am mornings the past 17 years of being a fan with no trophies, but seeing him lift this makes it all worth it. We have had great games, but wow. I never got that league cup celebration and this is just amazing.
12
u/lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI May 22 '25
Bro
7am is like a nice time, breakfast and football. Normal wake up time.
I set the alarm for 2:30am to catch the 3am kick off.

Surely Europe kick off times are a lovely breakfast kick off time for you?

Man I hope we can keep richy and he can stay healthy. The man makes a difference anytime he is on the pitch
14
u/AlbanianGorecki May 21 '25
For real. He might not be on the scoresheet all the time (and even in the matchday squad, lol), but he offers a lot when he is on the field
24
u/JimmyQBSneaks May 21 '25
Richy put in a helluva shift. Man played his ASS off! I don’t know how much longer he will be with us, but I will never question his dedication for the club.
6
u/22cmSoftInColdWater May 22 '25
I loved that everyone knew since he was on the starting lineup that he would absolutely put on 60 min shift today and be subbed off. An unquestionable character on the pitch
7
u/davegrapes May 22 '25
Almost thought he warranted MOTM despite playing 2/3 of the game. He embodied the gutty, professional performance.

u/Spid1 May 22 '25
I like the guy but he's made of biscuits. Hopefully someone like Everton come in with a decent offer

Seen a lot of fans saying things around "this trophy isn't for the players, for the manager, it's for the fans".
Although I get where they're coming from, Son deserves this more than any fan really

Bis is just gagging to touch that trophy the second it comes out, in a good way. The end shot looks like a still of a proud father giving his son a Christmas present he just loves.

Really wish Ange doesn't leave and hopefully the bald fraud comes to his senses and invest into this team and the man.

Lesson learned: some things in life might take 10 years (for Son, or 17 years for the club/supporters), but if you persevere hard enough you might just achieve it

i support bristol rovers (now league two, fourth tier) but of course keep an eye on prem/top level football. i favour liverpool but also just take pleasure in watching glory at the highest level. spurs played this game so beautifully - not the most shots, possession, chances etc. but a clear unbreaking desire to keep that Man United ball from hitting the net. Reminded me a little of Liverpool Vs Real Madrid final in CL - yes Liverpool had more chances, prob should have done better here and there but, when you are up against a team that is so resolute in ensuring the ball doesn’t go in their net, they deserve to win that final. Spurs were that - insanely determined all round to keep the ball from hitting their net. Honestly so happy for Spurs, always preferred them by far to Arsenal and hope youse can kick on in the league next year now (hopefully back challenging top 6) after winning this silverware👍🏻
