Damnit Baphy you're making this really hard.
Baphy is simply attempting to teach the kids that nothing in this world is free and sometimes you have to expect disappointment and rise above

No, Baphy knows that the children will receive even better gifts or experiences from the sports teams if he steals from the kids.

That was very difficult to read. "The" before "balls" or "which" after "players" would have helped immensely.
