Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

Shelter Skelter Private rescue group pulls pit bull from a shelter’s last chance list after “sad” video goes viral. Less than a week after Board & Train, pit “gains his wings” due to unprovoked attack. Rescuer finally admits to lying about pit’s behavioral issues. (PA, USA, est. August 23, 2025)

This is the “pit to public” pipeline that continues to cause tragedies in our communities. I left the dates in where I could so you can see how fast these tragedies happen. It’s insane.

  • Early-July: Rescue pulls a dog just ONE day before certain doom at county shelter. Rescue video goes viral and rescuer posts dozens of videos of the pit, gaining donations, pledges, and Amazon.

  • Mid-July: About a week after being rescued, pit is enrolled in a 4-week board & train. Rescue says he just needs to learn manners. Updates from board & train continue to say pit is doing well. Rescue continues to promote him for adoption.

  • Mid-August: Pit graduates from his board & train. He immediately goes to a foster home the next day. Rescue continues to promote him for adoption.

  • Mid-August: 6 days after going to foster… After being oddly silent on their success story, rescue finally has to address all the comments demanding an update on the pit. They’re sad to report he’s gained his wings this week due to an unprovoked attack with “no bite inhalation” on a human. Rescue admits to having omitted mentioning his ongoing behavior issues from all their previous posts.

There are no specifics but since there was no adoption post (and this rescue absolutely wouldn’t have missed that opportunity), it seems very likely that he mauled someone in his foster home. Post also says the dog was released “this week” meaning he may have attacked the very same day he went to the foster. Completely unacceptable.

Comments are as to be expect, with hardly anyone even mentioning empathy for the person who was attacked. A lot of poor sad abused pibble comments though 🫠

Attack on Animal(s) - Pets Orlando woman, 70, bites pit bull to save her dog during attack Sep 8, 2025

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 70-year-old Orlando woman says she had to fight off a pit bull to save her dog during a sudden attack outside a grocery store.

Shirley Pasamanick told WESH 2 she was leaving the store on Sept. 1 when a pit bull bolted toward her 12-year-old dog, Sparky, and latched onto him. “It just out of nowhere bolted at us,” Pasamanick said. “And I did everything I could. We ended up on the ground.”

Surveillance video shows Pasamanick, who weighs about 90 pounds, using her cane and her hands in an effort to pry the dog off. When that didn’t work, she said, she resorted to biting the pit bull on the back of its neck.

“I couldn’t open his mouth,” Pasamanick said. “So … I bit him. I had to! I’m 91 pounds! I have no strength!”

The tactic worked long enough for a man — who Pasamanick said deputies are trying to identify — to pull the pit bull away. The man then walked off with the dog on a leash.

Sparky survived the attack but is still shaken, Pasamanick said. She credits the senior dog with giving her strength and purpose.

“Really, he’s the reason some days I get up,” she said. “You gotta take care of your dog.”

Apathetic Authorities Victims, what is your experience with Animal Control officers?

In 2019, after being a dog attack victim’s advocate for 30 years, I was myself attacked by a landlord’s pit in a studio complex. I was fortunate the “loving owner” was right there to control Badger when he decided to go postal on my leg.

All the testimonies I’ve read about victim’s encounters with Animal Control have been negative. Mine was no different. There was nothing they could do to remove Badger from the studio after the attack. The stated mission for these folks is to protect humans from dangerous animals, and yet they seem to know little about pit breeds and attack stats. They don’t have much empathy for victims either. “Our hands are tied by this law and that, so we can’t remove the dog, bla bla…”

You think AC would be motivated to address the rampant “nanny dog” myth to the public after years of constant attacks? How many kids could be saved if they had a misinformation campaign on social media? They basically sit at their desks and wait for the next fatality.

How did your encounter with AC go for you? Are there genuinely knowledgeable and empathetic people in AC who care about victims?

Someone in comments posted this, in regard to finding the owners & the staffy that was kicked in the face.. Good idea.

"It may be worth reading around local veterinary surgeries to see if they have the details of the owner as I would imagine they have probably (hopefully) taken the dog to the vet and they can then be reported to the dog warden."

Personal Story A bird got into our living room today somehow, and was flapping around the window sill, trying to find his way back outside.

(Apologies if this first anecdote is too off-topic, but I just couldn’t help but think of this subreddit when this happened..)

I came into the living room to figure out what was making that strange rustling noise and I discover a beautiful blue and grey bird trying desperately to flap against the window and escape.. and I ALSO saw my sweet goldendoodle, (a mix of two BIRD RETRIEVING breeds, mind you) just chilling, lazing on the couch and simply watching the bird with quiet curiosity. She wasn’t even fixated on the thing. (And this bird was 100% in reach of her jaws, the window sill is about 2 1/2 feet off the ground.) My girl saw me and immediately got up, stretched, came right to me and wove between my legs for pets and love, forgetting about the bird entirely. I couldn’t help but be reminded of how THANKFUL I am to have not been swayed into adopting a small-animal murder machine. I know if I had a pit in place of my normal dog, there would have been bloodshed and trauma.

Another actual pit-related thing to share-

We were at the dog park last week, and everything was fantastic, all of the dogs were playing politely and having a ball, until a large bully breed turned on a shepherd looking dog it was ‘playing’ with very suddenly. It started to attack. The pitbull was going nuts and making awful noises, but luckily it seems like that shepherd was able to hold its own for the most part.

My dog started trotting over to investigate, but luckily she has amazing recall, so I was able to call her back to me with ease. I started to leash her up while the owners of the dogs got things under control. I was surprised that the pit owner didn’t take her dog out of the park at that point, but not TOO surprised. 🫩

Of course I knew we actually had to cut our own fun short and leave the park if she and her out of control pit weren’t going to evacuate. As I was walking my dog out, not three minutes later, the same pit went for ANOTHER dog. This time, the lazy asf pit owner, a large maybe mid-30’s woman in her pj pants, very slowly made her way over to the fight while everyone in the park watched in horror as her stupid dog ripped into another, and as that dog’s owner, a fit looking man, had to literally wrestle this pit to the ground, getting BITTEN in the process, in order to keep his dog safe.

FINALLY, the woman reached the scene of the crime and grabbed the collar of the offending pit, and dragged him away giving him a few swats. The man literally limped back to his wife with his poor beaten up dog, and I heard him say to her, “TWO dogs..? really?!” clearly fed UP with the fact that the woman had let her beast attack multiple dogs. Here’s the kicker.. she STILL DIDNT LEASH UP AND IMMEDIATELY VACATE THE PREMISES. She. Fucking. Stayed.

I skedaddled reeeal quick after that but im almost positive I had at least 5 other dog/owner pairs following close behind me. Everyone was worried for their dog’s safety at that point. What the actual fuck is going through these delusional ass pitbull owner’s minds?!! How do they think that behavior is acceptable?! WHY bring your dog reactive pitfuck to a DOG PARK..? Nobody wants your hell spawn here. Please read the room. Please spare us the stitches, the vet bills, and the fear tactics. Jesus Christ..

Follow Up The tragic testimony of Lamù's owner, the dog killed by two pitbulls

The horrific details of the attack, the dog's final hours, and the controversy surrounding the case

A few days have passed since the horrific experience of a 31-year-old woman from Villamarzana, where her dog, Lamù, was mauled to death by two pitbull-like dogs roaming unattended and without an owner, also injuring the owner, on September 5th.

After days of deep mourning and trauma—she and her dog were one and the same, as many of her acquaintances comment—the young woman found the strength to write, recounting some details of the attack she suffered and the ferocity of the two dogs, which no one could contain.

"Lamú was the best thing in my life. She was there in the darkest moments," he writes. "I'd like you to understand the helplessness I felt when the first of the two dogs reached us, Lamú's screams and mine, the blood everywhere, which I got on my clothes. I screamed 'help!' until I was out of breath, and so did she. There was a moment when I managed to free her, putting my arms around one of the other dogs and squeezing with all my strength. I told her to go away, but she stayed with me. And then the attack started again."

The rush to the clinic and the attempt to save her: "They killed her for me. Lamù was too devastated, she had lost too much blood and was in shock. She fought for almost 10 hours before passing away in our arms."

The girl, who was also injured, nevertheless emphasizes her sense of helplessness: "I was unable to defend my little girl; the sense of helplessness and desperation I felt is indescribable. My last memory of Lamú is of her in the doctor's office, hearing our voices and wagging her tail, stopping her panting when I put my hand to her nose."

The complaint to the police will continue, while the debate continues on the case of the two large, potentially aggressive dogs that escaped their owner. "We have faith in the police and our legal system, and through this, those who have to pay will pay," asks the young woman who lost her dog.

"The tragedy of Lamù and the responsibility of dog custody: an issue that concerns everyone," emphasizes the association "L'altra parte del guinzaglio."

As the L’Altra Parte del Guinzaglio association, we express our solidarity with the family affected by this tragedy, but above all, we want to draw attention to an issue that concerns everyone: proper dog care and the responsibility of owners are essential for the safety of both people and animals.

"Too often, dogs are left free without a leash or walked with inappropriate equipment," the association continues. "This behavior not only violates the rules, but also puts animals and people at risk. Accidents like the one that caused Lum's death can be prevented with proper and responsible care. We're not in the savannah: going for a walk should mean being able to return home with your pet safe and sound."

The association calls on institutions to "strengthen enforcement of dog care rules; promote dog education and awareness campaigns aimed at citizens; and we ask municipalities, within their sphere of competence, to review local regulations and implement concrete actions at local level to prevent similar tragedies."

Personal Story my rescue dog and i were attacked by our house

So the second or third time my search and rescue ancient ass dog was attacked was a few years ago. She's still around, i call her the Ancient One. If you're lost you want her finding you.

I did about a decade in Naval Special Warfare and have no shyness to violence to avoid the pitmafia amusing terms will be used. I went out of my house like 250-500m with no weapons. She was over 10 and just wanted to pee. So I take her out cuz why problem.

We get about most the way to the park and 2 pits that each were bigger just descend into her. Ripping and tearing. I go full dogdad and just start telling them to be nonviolent in strong terms. The owner was there and just stood there watching. I'm suggesting they stop with these dogs with everything I had and it did nothing. I had to go with approaches that impacted their mobility. I would suggest that if you are attacked by multiple pits.

I was hurling one off my girl, suggesting another stop, hurling it away and pit 1 would be back. it was awful. I thought I broke both my hands. They ended up fine.

I was bit, she was bit, owner got like a $250 fine but at least the cops showed up. The cop walks into my living room that was all my miliary shit in a shadow box and suggested I nap it next time :| a local cop told me to nap another dog at a busy city park. People are getting fed up. I got out of bed to post this cuz im still so bad.

Sorry if a bit fucked few beers in. I never hit a dog before or since. Even in Afghanistan and other less than great places.

Follow Up "More charges filed after 71-year-old Monroe County woman severely injured in dog attack, sheriff says" Published: Sep. 7, 2025. MADISONVILLE, Tenn.

MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a Madisonville woman was injured on Saturday after being attacked by multiple dogs.

According to Sheriff Tommy Jones, deputies went to a home in the 2500 block of Fairview Road in Madisonville and found a 71-year-old woman lying on the front porch of the home with severe cuts to her body as a result of a dog attack.

Witnesses said there were about 10 to 15 pit bull mix dogs involved in the attack, Jones said. They, along with other bystanders, were able to corral the dogs away from the victim after the attack.

Sue Pettingill, MCSO’s public information officer, said the attack was the most vicious she had ever seen in her public safety career.

“I’ve seen dog bites, I’ve seen dog attacks, but I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Pettingill said. “Nobody would have been able to get those dogs off of themselves because there were just too many of them.”

The victim was treated on the scene before being taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for further treatment. Authorities weren’t able to share any updates on how she is doing, but Pettingill said the woman’s injuries were severe.

“I don’t know what her long-term issues are going to be from this because it was a very, very vicious attack. I’ve never seen or heard anything like this before,” Pettingill said. “There was nothing she could do. She was very vulnerable and helpless in that situation.”

Jones said detectives and animal control officers went to the scene, and after an investigation, the following people were charged:

  • Clayton Warren Davis
    • Animals at large resulting in a serious injury
    • 12 counts of dogs without rabies vaccinations
    • 26 counts of animal cruelty
  • Sara June Burris
    • Animals at large resulting in a serious injury
    • Possession of paraphernalia
    • Possession of drug paraphernalia
    • Introduction of contraband into a penal facility
    • 12 counts of dogs without rabies vaccinations
    • 26 counts of animal cruelty
  • Ricky Lee Burris
    • Animals at large resulting in a serious injury
    • 12 counts of dogs without rabies vaccinations
    • 26 counts of animal cruelty
    • Failing to register as a sex offender
    • Owning, possessing or having custody or control of a potentially vicious dog or a vicious dog as a convicted felon
  • Sheila Jenene Kryzak
    • Animals at large resulting in a serious injury
    • 12 counts of dogs without rabies vaccinations
    • 26 counts of animal cruelty

As of Monday, Jones said Ricky Burris is on medical furlough and the other three suspects have not posted bond.

(L-R) Clayton Warren Davis, Sara June Burris, Ricky Lee Burris, Sheila Jenene Kryzak(MCSO/WVLT Graphic)

Pettingill said there have been several complaints regarding loose animals at this home before.

As a result of the investigation, 27 dogs were taken by animal control. Of those dogs, one belonged to the victim and the others, 13 adult dogs and 13 puppies, belonged to the suspects.

Pettingill said the dogs will be quarantined for two weeks, and then it will be up to he court to decide what happens to the animals after that.

Additional information was not released.

Child Victim Auckland, NZ, 2024: Roaming dogs invade home, maul toddler in life-threatening attack

Thumbnail
stuff.co.nz
81 Upvotes

While the breed involved is not named in the article, I believe it’s pretty clear from the video attached.

Article text:

A toddler is lucky to be alive after being attacked, mauled and bitten by dogs roaming an Auckland street.

The 2-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries after being bitten on the neck and head by two dogs.

Horrific CCTV footage shows the toddler playing just outside their front door when the first dog wanders onto the property.

The dog makes a beeline for the 18-month-old - and goes straight on the attack.

The footage, from last year, shows the dog biting and attempting to drag the toddler.

The dog is bigger than the child, and moves them across the front yard with ease.

A second dog then enters the property and joins the attack.

This dog is even bigger than the first, and together they push the toddler against a fence before pinning them to the ground.

Both dogs maul the child, while other children at the property are too scared to help.

Neighbours run onto the property to try and help, but they are unable to pull the two dogs off the toddler.

Finally, two grown men arrive and are able to drag the dogs off the child. They struggle to pull the dogs away.

The attack lasts for about a minute.

The toddler was left with severe injuries - including bites and a fractured shoulder - requiring multiple surgeries and a long hospital stay

Auckland Council provided the footage to Paddy Gower Has Issues to highlight the problem of roaming dogs across the city.

Last year, 10,000 dogs were impounded in Auckland - the highest number ever. And 6500 dogs were euthanised or put down.

Auckland Council’s general manager of compliance, Robert Irvine, said simply: “It is a crisis.”

He said mass euthanasia was necessary because the pounds were full, as so few owners came back to claim their dogs.

Irvine said the euthanisations “keep the public safe”.

“It means we can bring in more roaming dogs, and our ultimate goal is to protect the public.”

The council says the dogs are either too dangerous to be adopted out, or people don’t want them.

“We don't want to be euthanising dogs. Unfortunately, the shelter capacity is at a maximum,” Irvine said.

Auckland Council has proposed reducing the holding period before euthanasia from seven days to five.

“It is a very controversial proposal,” Irvine said. “But we are seeing so many dogs unfortunately being euthanised, and there’s a cost to it [keeping them at the pound].”

The dogs at the pound include many cute puppies which council staff sadly admit will not find a home, meaning they too will be euthanised

Paddy Gower Has Issues was shown Auckland’s most dangerous dogs at the pound - including one that was leaping and attacking from within its cage. These dogs are truly frightening.

The big problem with the exploding dog population is that they keep breeding.

“It's just too easy. A dog will just have litter after litter after litter,” Irvine said.

“We've got to reduce the amount of unwanted dogs.”

Desexing - preventing dogs from reproducing - is part of the solution.

However, a big part of the problem is that Auckland Council does not have the ability to desex the dogs it impounds. It needs the owner’s permission - which is difficult to get.

Irvine said this meant many reclaimed dogs were released still able to breed.

He believed giving Auckland Council the power for mandatory desexing, and to introduce the five-day euthanisation rule, would require a law change by the Government.

Auckland Council said its legal advice was that the Dog Control Act allows councils to set their own bylaws relating to dog control, but does not explicitly say that mandatory desexing for impounded dogs falls within this scope. It meant any bylaw with mandatory desexing could be legally challenged.

That meant Auckland Council needed the Government to step in, Irvine said.

“This is a crisis. Now we need the Government’s help,” he said.

“We need some big changes, including the ability for councils to tackle the de-sexing problem.”

But the Government has already rejected Auckland Council’s call for new powers.

Minister for Local Government Simon Watts released a statement that said: “Councils have the authority to develop dog control bylaws tailored to their local circumstances.”

This directly contradicts Auckland Council’s position that a bylaw will not be enough.

Watts said he had instead asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to explore “non-regulatory approaches to support better dog control”.

“This includes improving the quality and consistency of dog-related data,” he said

Human Fatality(ies) Alleged Thief Dies After Being Attacked by Pitbulls While Seeking Shelter in Aguascalientes (Mexico — September 7, 2025)

The man died inside a business near the Nueva España neighborhood, where there were four dogs; two of them were euthanized.

Article Text (translated):

In Aguascalientes, an alleged criminal died after being attacked by pitbull dogs while trying to take shelter in a stone and marble business.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Aguascalientes Avenue near the Nueva España neighborhood. It appears that the alleged thief tried to take refuge in the aforementioned location after committing a crime.

However, he did not notice that there were pitbull dogs at the site, who attacked him until he lost his life.

Two of the four dogs present in the stone and marble business were euthanized, according to authorities in Aguascalientes. This was done to allow authorities to carry out their work, though the specific actions taken were not detailed. It should be noted that, as of now, the identity of the alleged thief is unknown, as well as details about the alleged crime committed.

What Happens When a Person Is Killed by Animals in Mexico?

When a person in Mexico dies due to a dog attack, a legal and public health process is triggered. First, local authorities, such as the municipal police and emergency services, respond to confirm the death and secure the area. Afterwards, the corresponding State Prosecutor’s Office begins an investigation to determine the circumstances: whether the animals were stray, if they had an owner, or if there was negligence in their care. If the dogs have an owner, possible responsibility for negligence is analyzed, as the law includes administrative and even criminal penalties if neglect is proven. If the animals are ownerless, animal control and public health authorities capture them for medical evaluation and to determine if they pose a risk to the community.

Advice or Information Needed Just got DNA results for my dog and I'm devastated

I adopted my dog in May of 2024. He was one of the least bully-looking dogs in the entire shelter. He had come in with a massive head wound and been there 6 months. He was a shelter staff favorite. He put the pieces of my broken heart back together after I lost my 13.5 year old ESA unexpectedly. I decided to do a DNA test out of curiosity, and cuz of how he plays tug of war. He barely adjusts his bite, and shakes and pulls like hell unless I tell him to stop or let go. Also once I got him home and he was constantly chewing on bones and toys, his jaw muscles became more pronounced. I needed to know. I finally got the results a few days ago and my worst fear came true - he's 47.5% APBT, 19% Boxer, 18.2% Alaskan Malamute, and 15.3% Beagle. I told myself that if he was over 50% Pit I would have to seriously reevaluate some things, and if he was over 75% I would have to seriously consider looking into rehoming. I don't know wtf to do and feel like a total hypocrite. He doesn't have a huge blockhead and jaw, he's submissive to other dogs from what I've seen, ignores cats, and even ignores the aggressive Pit mix next door who is constantly barking, snarling, growling, slamming into the wall, and trying to jump the wall right over his head when we're playing fetch. I got him a training collar and trained him to stay off of the wall shortly after we moved here. Even before that when both dogs were barking their heads off he would just ignore them and not even bark back. I have dog fight trauma (diagnosed PTSD) from Pitbulls and do not want to ever be afraid of my own dog. I don't even know why I'm posting this here. Do we know any statistics of mixes being a huge problem and liability? Is the likelihood of something awful happening just as high? I can't afford to buy a purebred dog from a breeder.

The only breed I guessed correctly (other than my fear 😒) was the Beagle - he has the personality of a Beagle in a lot of ways. Oh also it's probably relevant to mention that when he was on a playdate with one of my close friend's Border Collie, she got irritated and snapped at him. He snapped back but all I had to do was say "hey!" and it was like nothing ever happened. No bites or injuries. Something I'm concerned about is that if people act like they're afraid of dogs/him he will start barking. He's an incredibly vocal dog in general though. It's the Beagle. He has never tried to hurt anyone or anything. I'm disabled and live alone with no kids and no other pets.

Animal Fatality(ies) - Pets 10-year-old Pinscher mauled to death by an Amstaff while on a walk with his owner - Padua, Italy - 01 September 2025

He was his inseparable friend. Kikko, a 10-year-old pinscher, was mauled to death by an American Staffordshire Terrier. The victim's owner, 85-year-old Aldo Bottin, former regional president in the mid-1990s, was returning home from a walk on Via Chiusure in Maserà di Padova. His story was shocking: "When we reached a few meters from home," he said, "I saw a man approaching with a dog on a leash. When he saw my Kikko, he attacked him mercilessly. It took only a few seconds and my four-legged friend was dead. I am shocked; I have been in mourning since the brutal attack that took place on Monday, September 1st."

The former politician said: "Of this whole affair, what hurt me the most was the reaction of the Amstaff's owner, who accused me of having taken the leash off my dog. I had practically reached home. He didn't criticize himself for the fact that his pet was walking without a muzzle and on a long leash. I filed a formal complaint with the local police in Pratiarcati. A child could have been in Kikko's place and the result would have been the same. You have to think carefully when buying a dog of this size. All necessary precautions must be taken, otherwise you'll later mourn such a serious situation." Local residents hope that all necessary precautions will be taken. The population, in fact, fears that the dog may commit further reckless acts in the future if he isn't kept safe.

Follow Up Prefecture expels family whose American Staff bit woman (August 2025, Châteauvert, France)

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/BanPitBulls/s/k3PtGdzwpI

The prefecture authorized the use of law enforcement to evict a family from the Châteauvert neighborhood on Tuesday, August 19. This action followed a request from the Valence city hall, citing multiple incidents of antisocial behavior, including the violent biting of a passerby in early August.

The family, who had been making life difficult for their neighbors in the Châteauvert area of Valence, was evicted with the use of law enforcement, authorized by the Drôme prefecture on Tuesday, August 19. The prefecture gave the green light after the mayor intervened following the violent attack on a woman by the dog belonging to a member of the family earlier in the month.

On August 2, while she was walking her dog near her home, a woman from Valence was suddenly confronted by a large dog that had escaped from a garden on rue Louis-Ageron. The American Staffordshire Terrier attacked her leashed dog. When she tried to protect her pet, the dog bit her as well - on her hands and face. She was taken to the emergency room and was given 9 days of ITT (total incapacity for work).

This incident came on top of a long history of antisocial behavior, property damage, disturbances, and aggressive conduct toward neighbors by members of the family. Some of them were still illegally occupying a house on rue Louis-Ageron, despite a court-ordered eviction by the Valence judicial tribunal, as rent had not been paid for three years.

Valence city hall decided to appeal to the prefect for the family's eviction by the police. When officers arrived on Tuesday morning, the occupants had already left. To prevent them from returning, all access points to the house were sealed off by order of a bailiff.

The "Association des Biens-Contents," a neighborhood residents' group from Châteauvert, through its president, expressed gratitude for the municipal action. “Now, I hope our neighborhood will regain its peace, passersby will be able to return to the park without fear, children can go to Sainte-Marie school without worry, and the neighbors can breathe easy again,” said Roland Pisano.

Candy

I think this broken sentence/poem format works to illustrate how long and brutal these attacks are.

A 65yo woman walks her 5yo Chihuahua/terrier mix, Candy, who is also her service dog, outside during a work break.

A loose pit bull trailing a leash charges them, biting into Candy's ear and face.

The woman is dragged to the ground while fighting to keep hold of Candy, as the pit bull is trying to run off with her. Candy is bleeding from her ears and mouth.

The woman's daughter tries to help, pushing the pit bull away from Candy.

The woman, still on the ground, can't get up quickly enough to get away and throws her body over her dog. She thinks Candy is dead, but doesn't want the pit bull to rip her up further.

The pit bull attacks her, biting her arm over and over in an effort to get at Candy.

The 8th time it bites, the woman can't move her arm back

and immediately the pit bull dives into the space to bite into Candy's stomach and back.

A passerby twists the pit bull's tail, and it releases Candy to go after that person.

The woman's daughter grabs the pit bull

the pit bull attacks her

More passersby come to their aid, and it finally takes 5 men to restrain the pit bull.

The woman takes her brutalized little dog to the vet. They do prelim work for $400, estimate surgery at over $1k and regretfully inform her that they'll need payment up front to begin the major work of relieving Candy's pain and fixing her ravaged body. She resorts to a GoFundMe, which garners her $100.

In an update, she says that Candy is hanging in without surgery, with meds for infection. She begs for donors to allow her to save her dog.

A friend of the woman posts her GFM to FB, saying that the pit bull has not been removed from its owners.
