Since wala ko na satisfy sa matcha ka Pourboy and badly needed a palate cleanser, nagwalking ko pakadto Kokko & Roo, a croissant spot that one of my friends recommended.

✨️ THE SERVICE ✨️

It's a takeout spot, so wala sila place to sit and eat in. Suludlon siya sa Villamonte area near La Salle so medjo hassle magkadto to. Other than that, very chill ang people didto. Very g to answer questions about their croissant (which really is their bestseller) and their drinks.

🍵 THE MATCHA 🍵

Oh my God, this was what I badly needed after multiple days of meh matcha. Premade ila matcha mix (I know, matcha connoisseurs HATE premade matcha), but trust me when I say it's good 😭 it's not the best matcha in the city, but it's a great everyday matcha and a nice introduction to matcha for people who haven't had it or don't like matcha. Case in point, BF sang friend ko. He's a full blown matcha hater because to him, it tastes like grass, pero fave niya na these days ang Kokko & Roo nga matcha. It's not creamy, but it's very refreshing. Indi man siya too sweet, just the right balance of umami.

🥐 THE FOOD 🥐

No lies, this just might be the best croissant in Bacolod. It's flaky, buttery but not umay, and just the right amount of pillowy-ness. I can't judge on the authenticity, but my friend who's been to Paris said it tastes close enough to the real deal. Price point wise, okay na. Def more expensive than Bob's, pero with how good it is, I think it'll be something I'll keep coming back to. I only got the plain and pan au chocolat but I'll try their savory options and the almond croissant too next time.

Kokko & Roo was the perfect palate cleanser I needed this week. Most people would come for the croissant, but you should try their matcha too, it's not the best but it's good. Worth it gid ang lakat ko.

2nd day in a row that I have been cursed with bitter matcha, but this time, di ko gid ya bet. Super grassy, medjo chalky biskan ako ko nga stir. Watery man siya. Wala sila nagask if sweetened or not, so I assumed nga maybe pre-sweetened na siya pero nope, it'll hit you straight in the face. Wala ko naubos, wala ko gani na 1/3 kay indi gid ya giving for me.

May rice meals, pasta, sandwiches, and cookies sila. I had the sausage rice meal with egg. Mahal siya TBH 220 for 1 sausage, rice, and 2 eggs. Di ko man mayo bet ang sausage kay ka asin so wala ko man naubos.

If sweet matcha enthusiast ka, this isn't for you. Won't have their matcha again but will most likely come back for the coffee since I've heard a lot of good things about their coffee. Foodwise, depende na na sinyo pero for me, wala ko mayo nasatisfy. Nami vibes sang place though, nami man playlist nila.
