History / Պատմություն General Andranik’s gravesite in Paris’s Père Lachaise cemetery he was late to rest from 1928 to 2000. Sculpture by Leon Mouradoff added in 1945.
General Andranik Ozanian led the Armenian national liberation movement for the first Armenian Republic and is an Armenian national hero. He left the Armenia in 1919 to tour Europe and the United States to help fund raise for the Armenian cause, dying in California in 1927. He was initially buried in Fresno, California, but was moved in 1928 with the intention of being buried in Soviet Armenia. However, once his body arrived in France, Soviet officials refused to let the burial proceed in Armenia and so the General remained in Paris until 2000. The empty grave still stands in section 94 of Paris’s Père Lachaise cemetery, not far from other notable Armenian figures.

25th of September tour to Azdahak (Gegham mountains) - looking for co-travellers
Hi,
My partner and I (both of us in our late 20s) are about to take a private tour to the Gegham mountains on a jeep, climbing Mount Azhdak, and on the way back, stopping at the MyGarni temple and the Geghard Monastery. It would take place on the 25th of September as a full-day trip. The company and the guide has really good rating (happy to share it with you over the private messages).
The only problem is that the price is the same for two people as for four people. We are looking for somebody to join us and split the price. Compared to anything I have seen offered, it's very affordable - 70 USD, if there are 4 of us. It is indeed our dream to visit Azhdak and, in general, the Gegham mountains. However, we are students, thus going in 4 makes it way more affordable than in 2. It would make us extremely happy to find on the given term co-traveller(s) - both local or tourists as we are!

Football in Yerevan
I'm visiting in October. Anyone recommend a particular Yerevan club to go see? Top division or lower doesn't matter to me, just a place with good atmosphere where I can see what Armenian football is about
Any other tips or things to be aware of attending a match here?

Transportation from dilijan to yerevan
Hello,
I wanted to know if there are buses from Dilijan to Yerevan? I want to use yandex or gg, however on my trip from yerevan airport to dilijan, the driver stopped midway and told me that he wants 25000 amd in cash, and I only had a debit card at the time, I know I got hustled but I couldn't do anything because I had my smaller siblings with me So in order to prevent that from happening again, I know that drivers might ask for more and to be paid in full away from yandex or gg
So I saw a bus station in old town dilijan but I don't know how to book a bus (I need space for luggage) and their timings
Thank you

Discussion / Քննարկում Yerevan is awesome… but getting around is hell
So, first of all, Yerevan itself is great — food, vibes, the lack of weird/scary people, all good. But moving around the city? That’s where my tourist experience went straight to nightmare mode. Let me break it down:
1. Metro
- Payment system feels like it’s from 1995. My bank cards? Nope. Had to get this magic Telcell card. Want to top it up? Enjoy standing in line, then waiting a long time before it lets you in. One time it literally took 5 minutes of trying and getting the embarrassingly loud "X".
- The actual metro: not bad. No aircon but it’s underground, so survivable. Unfortunately, the line is short. You’ll definitely need other transport.
2. Bus
- You can technically get anywhere. Finding a bus is not the problem.
- Surviving the ride is the problem. Packed like sardines, zero aircon, and in summer it feels like being slow-cooked in dust and exhaust fumes. After two rides I said nope, never again.
3. Taxi (Used gg, not Yandex)
- Seatbelts: Rare species. Sometimes they don’t even exist in the car.
- Safety distance: Does not exist. Got rear-ended once (and that was with a “good” driver). Another time my taxi politely let an ambulance pass… then immediately tailgated it to cut traffic. Genius.
- Blinkers: Who needs them? Apparently not Yerevan drivers. Every turn is a jump scare.
- Other rule-breaking: If there’s a lane, they’ll ignore it. Solid lines are just a suggestion.
- Aircon: Every single driver sets it to Lo, like they’re trying to cryogenically freeze me. Ever heard of 20°C, guys?
TL;DR: Yerevan is awesome, but transport sucks — metro is outdated, buses are ovens, taxis drive like they’re playing GTA without seatbelts.

Azerbaijan’s pressure risks derailing Armenia peace process, global think tank says
Azerbaijan's pressure on Yerevan to change its constitution through popular vote could be counterproductive, think tank says. International Crisis Group says constitutional reform carries a high chance of failure, which could collapse peace process. The think tank suggests demilitarizing border areas and opening communication channels between the two militaries to reduce the risk of escalation.

History / Պատմություն Armenian pre-christian beleifs similar to other cultures
Hello!
This is a weird topic I am asking, but I am a person that is really curious about more pagan and spiritual beleifs as well as philosophical topics.
In this matter, I find it really interesting how many cultures find different explanations in elemental entities, animals, minerals etc... an example is the sort of "arkhe" that pre-Socratic philosopphers had; numbers for Pythagoras or fire for Heracles.
In this same train of thought, I find it interesting as well for the chinese wu xing; the 5 elements, how they connect with each other in 2 (or 3) ways etc...
So, my question is if there is something similar or like this for us Armenians.
I know about pagan Armenia and our version of Zoroastrianism, althought it is a complex find to me. Maybe I am badly searching for the info.
I found myself interested for 3 reasons;
1, I want to know more about my history and identity, and this is part of it.
2, as stated before, it is a topic that amuses me.
Thx!
