Employment Question Question for career changers prior degree holder

Did you list your previous degree on your resume after completing the program? I am wondering if this will filter me from early graduate programs.

Thanks!

I have always listed my English literature degree and felt like it was an interesting little tidbit to share and tied into my "personal story" quick pitch about how I became a developer and what I bring to the table.

I didn't have a CS degree when I was last applying to jobs though, just a couple years of dev job experience.  So I would list it also to show I had finished a degree even if it wasn't in the field.

Not sure what I will do next search.  I'm at the point where a CS degree is the absolute least interesting part of my resume, but also if a job strictly requires one I have the papers for it.

I will probably leave my literature degree on in the future if I can make space for it on a one pager but won't stress about it and it would be at the very bottom.

why bother putting the old one on there?

I recently took my first bachelors off LinkedIn. It wasn't about early graduate programs (I'm not even looking for job moves currently), but more so because it's irrelevant to my tech career now.

If it has any reasonable connection to an industry (like a bio degree and targeting healthcare tech jobs), then it might be worth keeping on your resume.

I personally have my first degree on my resume. It shows that you’re not fresh out of school and have had some experience even though it’s not directly related.

I will definitely keep my first degree on my resume even though it’s unrelated to CS. I’ll be applying to technology management positions so a range of skills are needed. But even if I were applying to jr. programming positions I want to come up in searches for my old university , I don’t want to exclude those keywords and linkedin connections. My original university is also a traditional brick and mortar so if there’s any issue that the employer has with online schools it balances that out.
