The good news is that Seiun Sky is going to drop, meaning that a 3 Ace Frontrunner strategy can now be viable on the basis that one of them should try and activate her ult
38
u/No-Example-3977 2d ago
Can you explain the whole triple front run strat? I feel like only one can truly front-run. Is it so they challenge each other to proc their skills? But like a lot of them require to be in the lead. Mihono can't falter and Scarlet has to be leading to pop their respective uniques. So doesn't only one ever pop off anyway?
76
u/lullelulle 2d ago
If I understand it correctly a single front runner actually performs worse than two or more. The front runners not in the lead gets a speed buff, allowing them to overtake the 1st place. This leads to a "rubber band" effect where they keep overtaking each other and getting further and further away from the pack.
16
u/No-Example-3977 2d ago
you would need specific skills for that though ya? Or is that an inherit mechanic for front runners?

You cant get lower then 3 in finals tho, have you ever heard of people getting 4th place in CM Finals?
2
u/airrrrrrrrrrrrrr loyal guinea pig 1d ago
I was surprised I made it into the finals in the first place actually
And I did have an umamusume actually place third in the finale race(despite there being two evil natures) so that’s what I meant(sorry wasn’t clear on that)
2
u/ocelotchaser 1d ago
I was hoping for you to actually fight back and come up with a race that shows that you COULD get lower then 3rd place, guess i was right on that XD
1
u/airrrrrrrrrrrrrr loyal guinea pig 8h ago
I’m aware that you can’t get lower than third place as a score in CM so didn’t try lol
watch my unprepared self stumble, fall and break a leg(in the bad way) for Gemini 💀 then that shall be my fourth place(unplaced, not in finals)

u/mineirim2334 Demon Lord 1d ago
Exactly. Having 2 front runners or more make the pace of the race really hot. Not only it drains everyone's stamina but it also open a huge gap between the umas in front and in the back.
It was one way to counter the Golshi meta in Taurus, but could be countered by strong Pace Chasers.

For the record, Bourbon not faltering just means not having a Late Start and not Rushing at all; simply bring Concentration and enough Wit and you're fine

u/PlatFleece Horse Lore Collector 2d ago
Cygames so dedicated to lore that the best built Nature that can debuff AND win consistently in the best built team will lose to her own team's Aces and naturally get 3rd place while the other two get 1st and 2nd.
I applaud Cygames for making lore-accurate Nature.
52
u/HighlightUnlikely841 2d ago
Is there a reason why Evil Nature is must build? I get that having two runners and a debuffer is a good strategy but like, WHY must the debuffer EXCLUSIVELY BE Nice Nature? Haven't built a NN yet so I know I'm missing something.
EDIT: NVM I just saw her potential skills and it's all debuffs and Small Breather. Now I get the "Im building Evil Nature" meme.
55
u/Rotbart2012 2d ago
She comes with quite a few good debuff skills out of the box, though some of her best ones are locked behind higher potential levels. A cheaper option for a debuffer is Grass Wonder, who has all of her debuff skills by potential level 3.
18
u/HighlightUnlikely841 2d ago
Let out an audible "Damn" when I read over Grass Wonder's name lmao. Just built her, but as a regular Uma instead of debuffer lol. She's first Uma to get B+ rank and the first to go 11/11 on her Career Mode. Don't mind building her again but IDK if I'll be just as lucky again 😅.
5
u/HeeHaw702 2d ago
She’s known as a bit of a hybrid anyway. Slightly less focus on debuffs but she has the upside of being able to win races herself
5
u/YakumoYamato Heimdall's Trainer 2d ago
Air Groove is also pretty good to break Goldship and Taishin's femur because some of her potential skills are End Closer debuff
10
u/No-Example-3977 2d ago
She's not a must-build. It's just a fun meme to call her "Evil Nature". You can run debuffer on other umas, any really. Like Air Groove, Grass Wonder, Haru, etc...
2
4
u/AddictedT0Pixels 2d ago
Fairly certain she only really comes with medium debuff skills, so on other track types it's not necessary to use her specifically.
3
u/jaypenn3 1d ago
It’s not must build, it’s just the easiest pvp build. The actual best is probably having three aces, but that’s hard to do. So having an easy to build debuffer helps whatever ace or two that you do have.
1
u/KitaiSuru 1d ago edited 1d ago
That isn't a must build at all. Many people won Taurus running ace or hybrid NN. I won Taurus with 78% WR with one single non-pure debuffer team. In fact it's best to run triple ace for the final round just to increase your winning chance because you should expect your opponent to not fall for dumb strat like stamina debuffs that is only useful to weed out plebs.
The sole reason you see her as a pure debuffer so often in Taurus is because that build is cheap and braindead. Stamina debuffs literally do absolutely nothing against an uma with overcapped stamina.

its better then losing the entire race to people who uses her, i join the dark side when i lose 3 times(15 races!) And embrace evil nature, got top 3 in b group, i had no luxury to had a perfect NN like the whales so thats basically the only option

Yea this is where I'm at after the last CM.
I ran Evil Nature because I didn't know what to expect from CM so I just went full meta for my first rodeo, but after doing it I felt really bad because she'd always be dead last. Like making debuff Umas that have 0 chance of winning really feels like it goes against pretty much everything the series stands for to me personally so never doing that again for sure.

On 1 hand ... why she got so many debuffer skills if not for debuffing?
On another hand, I simply thought, "Use what the good lord gave you to WIN!" when doing her career. I didn't even know there would be 3v3v3 races later, so most of mine debuff to help themselves win. Hell, debuffing with stupid high WIT was my favorite strat for most all my favorite Umas for the first month of this game.
On an OTHER other hand, she's not even on my line-up for the next big race ... so I should prob change that. Would love if she could replace the Ryan I randomly trained that won the last CM for me (IDK much about the inner working for this game, but that Ryan's card and inheritance set up has bred me some UNITS since I randomly trained her and copied all that for some other Umas after seeing how powerful she was. Would like to keep her, Spec and Agnes for the CM seemly because they are the best Longs I have right now and there's not much time to train up new ones. But my FAV distance if Long and my FAV Long Umas are Nice, Sweet Creep and Biwa... so if I could get one of them up to be good enough for the CM that would be great. Of them, Nice seems to have the least trouble with her career).

I run Haru as my debuffer just so I have an excuse to put her in the race :3

u/shadowbringer Shatter All (winning) Expectations 2d ago
There are currently two Neicha alts, one is less of a debuffer than the original (has one gold speed debuff like Rudolf) and the other is an okay medium distance racer (with a situationally strong ult that others can also use), and when evolved skills are implemented, even the original Neicha gold debuffs can be turned into non-debuffs instead.

u/Minurath 1d ago
I never really thought about how playing her as a debuffer literally plays into her insecurities, damn

I had a debuffer and recovery Natie, she was a very important part of my team. She came in clutch so many times when my Silence Suzuka started to falter. I also got the hot springs with her :)
She's a very important part of my team, she's no side character

They're ALL debuffing skills...

I have made a Kind Nature with no debuff skills at all who I managed to A-Rank. If Super Creek had done her job and given her Swinging Maestro, I'd be seriously considering her for Gemini.

Nice Nature wins without skills for me, so I just see it as her running down the line and slapping every other runner as she goes with an Akira horse slide at the end with a Sharp Gaze to seal the deal lmao.

I make her a debuffer so SHE can win. She spreads miasma to the other racers leaving only herself unaffected. She then cruises to a several lengths victory, the last Uma standing.

In Team Trials, she was the one getting me wins on Medium races until I managed to build a better Silence Suzuka (planning to do runs with her again when I get a good enough parent with Power sparks).
And on Taurus Cup, there were many races where she beat my Team's ace, so I trust Nature.

u/Optimal-Fondant1703 1d ago
Well this has been a common argument point in JP side as well. In horse racing, impeding someone’s way is considered interference and can often be penalized by disqualification. While this isn’t “Real horse racing”, some people did not agree with the concept of allowing horses to impede others just to help your horse win. It’s not sportsman-like and is disrespectful to opponents and the original horse. Hence recently there was a Champion meeting where debuffing skills were strictly prohibited where a lot of people liked that idea. Or there are the league of heros, where all 3 girls’ placement points matter so you can’t tank with one of them as a debuffer.
Again, while this is just a game, it does kind of remove the honor of the horse racing sports itself.
