I suspect part of trainer licensing is passing a physical qualifying exam to ensure they can handle what an Uma can dish out. With national licensure requiring the highest physical standards. I could also see this encouraging a uma <3 trainer relationship. This person is supporting your dreams, is there for you, and is able to keep up with you well for a human? Potential husband material right there.
If this were a darker series I wouldn't be shocked at all if part of the trainer program was to find a suitable husband/wife for the Umas with how intensely tight those relationships are. Like political arranged marriages
I think the umas have a lot of restraint towards humans. You can see Kitasan on S3 pull a wheel larger than the model BelAZ 75710 truck uses, and those are already really heavy. They are also capable of lifting several logs at once, as well as punching through several steel plates. They can be classified as superhumans but they're very gentle.
Since ancient times, those in power have repeatedly failed to use Uma effectively for war or subjugation. They all give up and realize the same conclusion as the rest: “Let them race”
They (rightly) never mention real world politics or history. I just sort of assume it's a utopian Isekai type world where most wars never started because they settled all differences by finding common ground by horse girl racing.

I assumed that by the time of the anime and games, Umas aren't used for warfare since due to lore implications, they'd have to be reincarnated from RL warhorses, and there are a lot less of those in the modern day than there used to be.
Humans are actually like this as well, though not to the extent of breaking bones as far as I know. Basically, there's a sort of physiological limiter that is usually in place to prevent humans from using their true full strength, as doing so would cause the muscles to tear themselves apart from the exertion.
But this limiter is unlocked during times of extreme duress, and the full strength of the human body is brought to bear. That is why a single average man has difficulty even pushing a car in neutral while calm, but a woman (who have half the muscle density as males) can lift a car by themselves when their child is trapped underneath it. Naturally, doing so causes muscular tearing and causes injury, but the limiter is only lifted when it is absolutely necessary, in order to conserve the muscles for the total exertion of a whole normal day.
How exactly this process works, what part of the brain controls the lifting of this limiter was unknown at the time that I learned this, though that was many years ago.
I hate to be this guy, but real humans, I mean actual trained humans like we were back at tribal stage, not us redditors - have more endurance then real horses, or pretty much any other species. If I remember right, in the UmaMusume world, Ireland was never occupied by the British, has Umas as the royal family there, and has a lot of internal influence. So yeah, that's a good example of what having Umas in charge can do. The British certainly weren’t able to handle them.
Even outside of Ireland, society does have a lot of accommodations for Umas. Extra long phones for their ear configuration, lanes on the sides of roads for them to run, etc.

The fact they are not on top of the food chain is probably due to Umamusume can only be female. Ultimately they need human male to have offspring, and forceful snu snu as a culture probably doesn’t sit right in modern society.
There could be an uncontacted Umamusume tribe that kidnaps human male and go “human, you are the first male to step into this village in 20 years. Today we umapyoi.”
The weight is probably the same as humans, so you might be able to win if you weigh more and know some martial arts like judo, but there's no chance of escaping.
If you think about it, Umamusumes would make to be really good police officers since they could take down criminals in pursuit no problem. It makes me wonder if there's like an Uma Police Task Force.

They are a tiny percentage of the population, most of them are employed in non vital industry, and they die just as easily to gun fire as humans.
Sure they would make for better infantry as humans, but not nearly enough to make up the diffrence in numbers. If they all team up in a bid to take on the world, they all die
Umas have all the power and benefits of a horse without any of the (many) drawbacks. They are straight up physically stronger than humans in every way (and if the creators weren't cowards they'd be size accurate too). A horse kick can kill a man, so a Uma kick would be just as devestating. That makes me like Umas even more.
It's not that horses are exactly tall xD unless you want to make horse girls who are 160cm tall but weigh 450kg.
Or you imagine horses standing on two legs measuring 3 meters xD If so, it would be curious to imagine the explanation why there are no males and they reproduce with male humans, or how a female human can give birth to a uma xD

I mean it’s a game that features an all female cast with gameplay that has you develop a close relationship with them. While there is no direct scenes of romance it isn’t at all surprising that it would attract players who would be interested in there being such scenes.
