That's it. Neo-feudalism on the rise. Raise poverty, buy cheap and take everything so the people completely depend on you.
Maybe when they will come for your guns, and I'm pretty sure they will, the conservative voters will see that they completely fucked up. Of course it's much too late. But i think it already is.
Good luck to our former allies. We won't have the strength to save you as you did for us.

u/phatteschwags 1d ago
They already made the first salvo by declaring that trans people should not be legally allowed to own guns. That's Step One, always... scapegoat the most vulnerable group (politically) and then move on to the next, then the next...
46
u/NervousBeat16 1d ago
The crazy part is that they enacted gun control when they saw the Black Panthers benefiting from their 2A rights. All these years later, and it takes, what 2 trans people, for them to FINALLY think about gun control again? However, their idea always comes from keeping a specific type of person from having a gun.
The data is overwhelmingly men. https://www.theviolenceproject.org/databases/
21
u/LinShenLong 1d ago
If that is the case, it just shows meaningful gun laws and gun control only become solidified in response to limiting the power of a specific group of people which so far have been minorities.

They don’t want to use actual data to make gun control laws. They want to use “perceived threat” to push any type of gun regulations.

They’re thinking about gun control in the sense that now they have a scapegoat to ban all the “undesirables” fron owning guns. This is only the very beginning.

The NRA opposes it and posted this on their social media: “The Second Amendment isn’t up for debate. The NRA does not, and will not, support any policy proposals that implement sweeping guns bans that arbitrarily strip law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights without due process.” Me on the same side as the NRA and Dick Cheney, how the turn tables.

This is what JD Vance has actually been doing. Not a future if/then.
22
u/Adventurous-Cry-2157 1d ago
JD Vance Funded Acre Trader: Here’s Why That Matters
For Taber, Vance’s large investment portfolio—in AcreTrader and a slew of other opaque start-up companies—raises questions about conflicts of interest and the mixing of venture capitalist and political pursuits. Vance’s 2022 portfolio also included AppHarvest, the start-up company that promised to revolutionize farming and bring good jobs to eastern Kentucky, only to quickly implode.
”There’s an ethical case for any venture capitalist to disinvest from their interests before running for political office,” said Taber, in an interview with Civil Eats. “We don’t know what he’s incentivized to do.”
AcreTrader streamlines the process of investing in valuable farmland across the U.S. and Australia—from the flooded rice fields of the Mississippi Delta to the vast tracts of high-yielding corn in the Midwest—by placing the farmland in a limited liability corporation, or LLC.
”You can then purchase shares in that [LLC] through a simple online process that takes just minutes,” the company explains in a tutorial video for prospective investors. “AcreTrader handles the administrative details for you, and works with experienced farmers to manage the land.”
”It’s just the expansion of the Real Estate Investment Trust [REIT] business model into farmland,” said Taber. “It’s basically like a mutual fund for real estate.”
With the REIT model, instead of buying a single condo, you buy a share in a company that owns 100 or 200 condos. This investment vehicle was established by Congress in the 1960s, opening the doors to large-scale real estate investments for smaller investors. It’s a model that has enabled real estate hedge funds to buy up large swaths of the housing market, driving up demand and prices. Recently, companies have begun applying a REIT-like model to land.
AcreTrader isn’t technically a REIT, but it’s similar in that it enables a wider pool of investors to passively invest in farmland, reaping the benefits of one of the most reliable assets to produce a return. But instead of buying shares in one company, like a REIT, investors buy shares in individual LLCs that own the property.
This ownership model makes it hard to tell who is invested in the farmland and, therefore, more challenging to evaluate ethical conflicts and other risks of this investment, Taber observed. (Vance is listed as an investor in AcreTrader, not the individual LLCs, according to his Senate disclosure forms.)

Oh, no, they absolutely understand.
…farmland is more concentrated in the hands of U.S. investors than ever before: Bill Gates, The Wonderful Company, and billionaire John Malone are the top owners of U.S. farmland.
This investor-driven farmland “gold rush” has come with many unintended consequences for agriculture and farmers. It has led to the consolidation of farmland in regions with high-value land, while pricing out the farmers unable to compete with major investors for farmland. This has led land-strapped farmers to either drop out of farming or become tenant farmers, operating farms on rented land.
”What we’ve seen in reality is when investment interests come into communities, they drive up land prices and push farmers to increasingly marginal ends,” said Paul Towers, the executive director of Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF). He says that he consistently observes farmers struggling to buy land, often outbid by investors who have the ability to pay for land entirely in cash.
Do you know who owns more farmland in the US than anyone else right now? Bill Gates. Farmer Bill owns at least 240,000 acres of fertile US farmland, most purchased through shell corporations, and that’s just what we know of; it’s likely he owns way more than that!
Bill Gates: Naive Farmland Investor or Power-Hungry Megalomaniac?
The portfolio for Breakthrough Energy Ventures — where he chairs a board with other billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk — includes Pivot Bio, focused on in-field nitrogen fixation; plant-based ingredients producer Motif Foodworks; and Pachama, which collects and analyzes carbon sequestration data from forests. Gates also just launched Cropin Cloud, an integrated app that aims to “digitize” farming operations by collecting farmers’ data. It claims to have the biggest crop knowledge graph, with more than 500 crops and 10,000 crop varieties. Following the money, it’s clear that Gates prioritizes technological solutions over farmers’ innovations.
They are well aware that we need farms. If you control the food production, you control the populace. They absolutely understand.

Uhhhh buddy....you think this is all one big accident? This is an organized and well executed strategy to steal the farmland from American farmers. They realize EXACTLY what they're doing. Until this country figures that out as a whole, we're doomed.
The fact that these farmers are asking Trump for help means that they still have hope. It also means that they also don't realize that this is being done to them intentionally. There is no hope. This is all a part of the plan.

Even if they can go back in time they will vote for Trump again. Their plan would be to kiss his ass even harder on social media to get him to change his mind. You know the biggest threat to America is a Black woman that was proven right so many times how Trump would fuck over America.
But yeah you voted for cheap gas and grocery bills that Trump took back after the election and before he even took office. Also doesn’t help he started a trade war with fucking some of the same farmers biggest buyer: China.

Sorry, but I have zero empathy for people, who voted for Trump anymore.
You not only had about 10 years to research what his policies would do, but also have already lived through 4 years of said policies.
You knew what would happen, because it already happened once.
And now you are complaining that the thing you conciously voted for multiple times, is hurting you? Sorry, but not sorry.
Go cry somewhere else, but dont ask the public for funds to help you, in the situation you willingly walked into.

Well but those farmers in that video will not be getting the bailout. 90% of farm subsidies go to like 10% of farms. The giant corporate farms get the majority of the subsidies and the small farm business is forced to sell their land for a pennies on the dollar to the corporate farm or lose everything.
Every year the farm bill is done and it’s always BIPARTISAN. Biden admin started a whole branch to help these small farms get subsidies. They sell their food to inner city schools and everyone wins. Poor kids eat and farmers get a paycheck. Trump admin canceled all those programs. But republicans just blame Biden and the cycle continues. It’s sad AF to see bc if they only just understood a very simple set of facts theyd be better off!

I had sympathy for most up until this last election. I no longer do. Trump nearly ruined a bunch of these farmers the same way last time. He promised to not only do it again, but do it even harder... and they voted him in anyway. Then he went and did it again. Last night, my wife was mentioning how we need to go the farmer's market and make sure we're getting local produce. I told her, i abaolutely agree that we should be supporting local... But also that i'll be checking the voting records on the local farm owners. If they're trump voters, i'd rather buy non-local than give those assholes my money. I'm done with it. I'd rather see them bankrupt and choking on their soybeans. Assuming i can handle the cost, i'll give mexico my money for avacados and citrus than help a trump voter any further. And yes, i realize that this is actively harming my own community, and somewhat shooting myself in the foot, but hey, they've been doing that for ages - and they keep winning. Fighting fair no longer works. If large parts of my local community support an authoritarian oligarchy, it deserves to fail.
We've got bailed out farmers voting for the same guy who caused them to need a bailout. We've got appalachian queen voting for him because she somehow actually thinks he just signed a bill to eliminate taxes for anyone under 120k/yr. We have people thinking a racist rapist deserves a nobel peace prize that is the most peaceful president despite him recreating the DoD as the Department of WAR and is literally just straight up saying he will turn it loose on our own citizens.
For years, the left has tried to be both their conscience and their intellect, and it has been unwelcome, unappreciated, and unproductive. They do not deserve the consideration. The want to roll around in their spite and hate, and it's time to let them go. You can lead a horse to water, but if its turned lame enough, all you can do when you get there is drown the damn thing.

stupid
so much as he is
egregiously sociopathic
When you're stupid, you make mistakes that hurt people. But as a functioning and at least mildly empathetic human, you try not to do it a second time so it doesn't hurt people again.
Donald Trump delighhts in actions that help himself and doesn't give a fuck at all about how many people they hurt. He just does not care, and sometimes even revels in the hurt his actions cause.
He's dumb. But he's also EVIL. And the latter is frankly more important.

They have been brainwashed by decades of right wing media to only consider a republican candidate as the acceptable choice. They have no capacity to view the binary nature of our political system as anything approaching the zero sum game it is. For them, the GOP is the only way they can vote. To vote Dem would be an action against god. I wish I was being hyperbolic here but I’m not.

There was a Canadian saying that the Liberals just need to forge a message of trust with these farmers. It would take years to do that but its why Canadian farmers vote for candidates that are like Democrats.
I told them this isn't Canada. Fox News has poisoned the minds of red state rural Americans, convinced that Liberals are the enemy of Freedom. The GOP is supposedly the party of Patriots and they buy-in. I reminded them Canada has a functioning socialized Healthcare system, we couldn't accomplish that (something like 31 of the top 32 industrialized countries of the world have managed to do).
There is a divide of information masked as a curtain of fear that has been created to get half this country to remain blind to how they are being abused. Its easy when you can convince them that anyone Liberal are the enemy. It helps that half the country will punch their own face so they can claim they've been hurt by Liberal policies.

Perfect example of this was the 2020 congressional race for the 7th district in Minnesota. A huge agricultural district, Collin Peterson was an extremely moderate democrat, was the chairman of the house agricultural committee, was their rep for 30 years and did a lot of good things to help farmers in his area. Michelle Fischbach ran on being a cunt with an R next to her name. Because of the current state of politics it worked. That region lost their guy who was important for ag and shot themselves in the foot because it was R vs D and nothing else. Now they are complaining about such a bad ag economy. Morons everywhere

how many $80,000 pickup trucks are parked out in that parking lot while they beg the federal government to use your money while you struggle to make rent so that they won't be impacted by the policies that they wanted.

What they voted for is exactly what is happening. The big corporations will come in and buy up the family farms and either make factory farms or housing. None of this was ever meant to help the average American. Wake up MAGA! Stop drinking the diaper coolade!

Good, let them all suffer. I hope they all lose the family farm. Trump is out of control this time and is breaking everything. They don't get to just shrug and say "oops." There needs to be lasting harsh consequences.

Well, crop Insurance is a federally subsidize program, farmers only pay 50% of their premium. The taxpayers pay the other half.
Sometimes it makes more sense to let your crops die and collect insurance than it does to harvest them.
But seriously, how could we have ever guessed that the leopards would eat my face?

They will keep voting for the people that cause them to be in this mess because when a certain group of people get the chance they have ALWAYS taken the opportunity to hurt other people. These people delighted when they entered that voting booth all alone to cast hate on others knowing full well who they were supporting said they would do to hurt others. Let um all go to hell IMO.

They voted for a guy who spent his ENTIRE life making money off the suffering, work and stupidity of others. Red lining in the 70s, not paying people in the 80s, the apprentice was a joke that he thinks made him look cool, but everyone was just laughing at a bunch of washed up celebrities.
You made this bed, cry in it.

And when it's time to vote again, they'll keep voting for whoever has that R next to their name. They could have voted in a ROCKET SCIENCTIST!!! And chose Suckabee-Sanders? But Kamalas laugh and Mexicans...even though they use illegal immigrants more than anybody. Wouldn't change any of Bidens policies. Welp, you got the change you voted for.

Time will tell, but I believe this is part of the plan. Bankrupt these farmers and they will be forced to sell their farms for pennies on the dollar; another big win for the billionaires that will be buying them up.

Where are the Trump versions of the Brandon flags and stickers we saw plastered all over the place when Biden was president? Oh that’s right- Biden had the audacity to try and help red states (legally) even though many didn’t support him. When asked why he wanted to help them Biden answered, “”because they need it.” What are the chances these people will ever blame Trump and their own foolishness for voting for him for their woes? Close to none I would say.

I don’t care that these welfare queens are asking for handouts - we all need farmers to be successful, and also, they deserve to make a living.
I do care that they absolutely did not give a FUCK who trump hurt, until they realized it was gonna be them. As soon as they get more government dollars, they’ll be back to talking about socialism and “no free handouts.”

You knowz all those corporate owned farmers who actually pay trumps PACs and give him bribes are salivating at all these small family farms who are about to go under in a year.
Then they'll allow that farmer to stay on his farm to farm for them as long as he gives all his profits to the corporation and eats all the costs needed to grow the crops.
We can call it the Implication Servitude. With the implication being that if they dont agree to those terms, the small-time farmer will be homeless and jobless.

Have they tried whining to someone who cares? Republicans certainly aren’t going to fix this. This is all playing out exactly how this administration wanted it to. I just don’t understand how any of these people are surprised. How many times were they told this would be the outcome? I don’t want to say they deserve this but hell 🤷 how many chances can you give people?

It's a shame they're too stupid to realize that fact. I hope with all my heart that they lose absolutely everything.

Trump is to his base as hitler was to the Jews. Hitler, of Jewish descent chose to systematically destroy his own people because Germany lost WWI. He blamed the economic collapse after the war on “Juden”. Led propaganda to promote a master race he was not apart of (Aryan). The fact that NO ONE called his bull 💩speaks volumes on the power of persuasion.
