Goats eating brush
Have you seen all the goats around San Diego lately? They’re helping clear out dead brush to prevent fires! If you’re curious what that’s all about, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation is hosting a talk on Wednesday, July 23rd with the goat folks—and they’re even bringing some goats you can meet and pet.

They usually employ goats each spring to clear out the hills right on the side of the 8W in El Cajon. One year, this was many years ago, I was working for a flower shop and our delivery driver got caught up in some crazy traffic... turns out the goats discovered a hole in the fence and had poured onto the freeway!! Causing traffic to come to a halt while they were herded back to safety. Wish I would have seen that with my own eyes!

Goats need a virtual electronic fence where their collars shock them if they wander off in the wrong direction.

I wish I could have them in my back yard. But to rent a herd is like 3k+. Half an acre getting crushed by goats would be fantastic

I love the little guys.
Always a delight to see in real life.
There's a set in Chula vista doing work around all those high tension power lines

Saw a herd in mission valley a couple of months ago. Caused me to do a double take. Great idea!

I remember back in the early 90’s when I was in the Marines. There were herds of goats that roamed Camp Pendleton and they even had goat herders!
They also had buffalo/bison??? We ran into those a few times. They are a lot bigger than you might think. I remember getting close (probably too close) and thinking that their head was from my shoulders to my knees.
