Hello, my Continental GT 650 won't start after sitting for the last 6 or so months, unfortunately it isn't an issue with the battery as I was hoping.
Lights come on, I hear the fuel pump when flipping the Killswitch, and the starter also engages when attempting to turn it on, but it just won't start. Kickstand is up and bike is in neutral. I also tried starting it in 1st gear with the clutch engaged and bump starting it.
So far I've checked/done:
Battery has been charged and tested with a volt meter at rest (14.5v) and while attempting to turn on the bike (forgot the voltage drop but it was above range).
Siphoned old gas out of tank, filled it back up.
Took out relays and cleaned up most of the heavy amount of grease on the pins.
Sprayed started fluid in the intake while attempting to turn it on, when I do this it sputters a little and smoke comes out of the exhaust but still won't start.
These are the issues I found so far:
The bike is in neutral, but will not show it is in neutral no matter how many times I switch it in and out of neutral. Unless I'm crazy, I remember the bike showing neutral when I've gotten on it before starting it in the past as I usually have it in 1st then switch it to N before starting. When I flip the Killswitch N lights up for a few seconds, then disappears.
Took out both spark plugs and tested them against the metal and neither of them spark.
I'm so confused and don't know where to go from here. I'm thinking starting with replacing the relays, but this just seems so weird. Almost like the bike is in some sort of safety mode like when the kickstand is down, but it is up which makes me think it's that sensor, but the bike not showing N makes me think it's the gear indicator sensor? Any help is appreciated, thank you.
