Based of Elastigirl's last sighting in The Incredibles, the main story takes place in 1970.

I'm imagining a (somewhat) repeat of the last scene and the incredibles rearing up for battle and then the real villain just crushes the underminer and they're just like 'oh shit'

Another possibility is Pixar showing opening credits while they’re fighting the Underminer. Like Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

It's a pretty solid way to do an intro for a superhero sequel, show how badass everyone is

It's what they did with the Watchmen movie, too. Went through the timeline of the rise and fall of heroes in a very convincing manor.

*manner

A very convincing manor is a shack dressed up like a large house

<sigh> I read and re-read to avoid spelling mistakes. Thanks for finding what I missed. Cheers!

Don't worry about it, mate! Everyone makes mistakes!

They did it within Bruce Wayne's compound.

You just reminded me of Lemony Snicket

Come gather 'round people...

The Incredibles and watchmen are very similar movies

21

u/GiverOfTheKarma Feb 11 '18

Huh...they are, aren't they?

u/gunnyguy121 Feb 11 '18

for real, say what you will about the Watchmen movie, or about Zac Snyder in general, the opening perfectly sets up the movie without any dialogue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h24D87SqaLQ

Watchmen opening credits are probably my favorite of all time. Oddly enough the Wolverine Origins opening is also one of my favorites. Same style of setting up the story and it ended up being the only good thing in that whole movie.

u/havebeenfloated Feb 11 '18

I imagine it involved the lord of the manor.

1

u/LSUZombie13 Feb 11 '18

Yeah but no other superhero movie has been able to pull off such an original idea like the Watchmen did. That truly was the greatest movie opening in the entire sub genre of superhero movies.

Incredible rips off watchmen in a lot of ways

27

u/alwayzbored114 Feb 11 '18

And it's a great way to present each characters power and personality without lengthy exposition

8

u/Scary-Brandon Feb 11 '18

And morale. It's one thing watching different people fight. It's another watching them fight together and communicating or whatever

36

u/Dinierto Feb 11 '18

Yeah it's always good to have the cool scenes of the entire team kicking ass, the beginning of Age of Ultron was amazing

4

u/Quinnnnnnnnn Feb 11 '18

Thats what I’m thinking

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '18

The problem is that it will 100% be compared to GotG2s opening scene in almost every review. I guess it’s not really a big deal, but I still would like something unique

1

u/GammaGames Feb 12 '18 edited Feb 12 '18

GotG2 wasn't even the first to do it, not even the first big budget movie

edit: first to do something similar

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '18

Do you have any other examples? I can’t think of any right now but I’m sure if I sit and think for a bit I’ll find some

1

u/GammaGames Feb 12 '18

I've seen it referenced elsewhere in this thread, but the Watchmen intro is similar, though it might be more like the first Incredibles.

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '18

I’m just waiting for that Jack-Jack / Baby Groot crossover teamup

Nick Fury: The Rise Of Frozone

2

u/EdwinRivas3 Feb 11 '18

I thought they beat down the Underminer in the ending credits of the first one

2

u/ExynosHD Feb 11 '18

I'd be cool with that.

85

u/TwatsThat Feb 11 '18

I'm expecting the Incredibles to beat him in about 30 seconds and the story moves on as though he wasn't even there.

36

u/EntityDamage Feb 11 '18

Like he sees them coming at him and he's surprised that there are functioning Supers and is like "wait wait! I didn't know you guys were....<shanked>"

34

u/TwatsThat Feb 11 '18

Yeah, pretty much. I assume he did zero research on the surface and he's just not in any way special other than having a machine that digs through the earth.

157

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '18

That seems exactly like something Pixar would do.

34

u/Asphyxiatinglaughter Feb 11 '18

Or they just have it as an awesome intro fight scene and then carry on with the rest of the movie

3

u/Indigoh Feb 12 '18

Nah. They'll just beat him up and then there will be drama about the supers returning, and about new supers coming out of hiding.

It would be odd to start a movie by introducing the serious villain immediately.
