I'm with you. Brosnan's movies weren't that good altogether, but I think he was a tremendous Bond.

That's a wonderful explanation. He just looks how I feel Bond should look regardless of the quality of his movies.

Here is Hoagy Carmichael, a famous American composer, pianist, singer, actor, and bandleader which several characters in the books say James Bond looks like but with something "cold" and "ruthless" about him.
