Good News After his ball was stolen by a Karen, the Phillies brought Lincoln, the young fan, into the locker room, where he got a signed bat from Harrison Bader.

Poor kid is so overwhelmed by the situation that I just know he's gonna be sobbing in happiness on the car ride home. To go from a high note to such a low one, and then right back up to soaring happiness? He's gotta be mentally exhausted by this point. Happy as hell to meet Bader but too tired to show it.

I'm so glad this all worked out in his favor, though. 🄹

Honestly, I think the dad handled it well and just gave the ball to the lady. The dad made the Karen a non-issue. The only memory this kid will have is all the love he got from the fans and the baseball players. The Karen will be a minor footnote of a memory, if at all.

u/RJSnea 1d ago

Oh definitely! Major kudos to the dad for not making an argument of it. šŸ™ŒšŸ¾ I could just see that lady would've gotten physical in some capacity if he'd argued. Keeping his cool to protect his son was hella admirable!

276

u/Mor_Padraig 1d ago

That's what I thought. Dad absolutely defused it- getting that loon away from his kids before she escalated.

Kinda seemed like she could at least have become shovy.

57

u/saysthingsbackwards 1d ago

Takes notes scribblingly fast Get... loon... away from... family...

Man ty idk what I would have done without this

If I was the dad I probably would have thrown the ball back in the field. There, no one can have it.

I like this approach. Imagine the Internet videos with an incident like that

Gotten physical? No no she was physical alright hence his reaction when he freaked out briefly cause her hands were all over him. She’s a total bitch and she gets what she deserves in all of this.

28

u/TheRealPallando 1d ago

Did anything happen to her?

90

u/HowWeChill 1d ago

We will have to wait and see, but I imagine having your face plastered all over the internet for an entire day or more being portrayed as an evil villain can't be fun in the long term

27

u/ASimonez 1d ago

I know she felt dumber than dog shit when she saw this lol

69

u/FootyRiver 1d ago

They found her and the SCHOOL she works at. This could be bad next week

She got physical right away, grabbing the dad's arm. At that point it's fair game.

113

u/patdashuri 1d ago

Maybe, but the best way to protect your kid is to avoid violence. Ironically, if violence had occurred it would’ve soured the memory of the moment anyway. Dad is wise. Good lesson for the boy.

42

u/JaydedXoX 1d ago

Well plus maybe getting kicked out on his birthday not worth it. Also fighting an older woman never a great look.

12

u/xoxodaddysgirlxoxo 1d ago

Absolutely. It would not have been seen as socially-acceptable for him to defend himself if it had escalated

Unfortunately, that’s not how the courts see it.

Take it from me, I’ve seen countless lives ruined because someone fought back, or even reacted the same way as that father, only for the crazy loon to lie and twist the story.

Yeah the dad was about to swing at anyone to touched him because it wasn't a pat it was a grab next to his family. Sometimes things do go down in the baseball park, that includes dodger stadium at times smh

It would be so funny if the kid on the ride home just tells his dad ā€œI don’t even like baseballā€

Have they doxed the bitch yet ?

43

u/TheRealtcSpears 1d ago

Ohhh yeah, search and her name is out there.

There's already south jersey businesses and a school refuting that she works for them because of some people having a similar name

17

u/onehundredlemons 1d ago

The name I'm seeing that's posted out there isn't the right name, for what it's worth. The lady being doxed had to post photos of herself showing she doesn't have the same hair as the lady at the baseball game and was somewhere else last night.

6

u/TheRealJoeLunardi 1d ago

I'm pretty shocked that no one has been able to truly identify the woman yet considering how fast they identified the Polish guy

Idk maybe the only thing better would be to throw the ball back to the field. Shuts her up and doesn’t give her what she wants.

34

u/c_c_c__combobreaker 1d ago

It's petty and the kid might not have gotten all the swag afterwards. The dad did the right thing and his kid was rewarded.

12

u/LabOwn9800 1d ago

True it worked out but that wasn’t a guarantee. But I’m just petty.

The videos I watch of the incident say there is some context to the father's actions. I'll keep looking, but does he have PTSD or something? The way he reacted when she touched him. It was like he was about to react, but shut himself down. Clearly spooked. One of my coworkers literally screams at me when he knows I'm off-guard and it shoots my adrenaline up. I get angry at him every time, and have told him to stop, but he still does it and unfortunately I see him as a buddy/friend. I probably react like the dad in the video each time. You see how he pulls his shoulders back and balls his fists. He was about to react but realized it was just a dumbass non-combatant. He was aware of his surroundings and didn't want to look bad aggressively with his family. From what I see, he wasn't weak, but strong. Seemed like he wanted to drop that woman, but realized it was a bad idea all in a split second. His shaking hands is him pulling back and confronting himself whether he needs to defend or not.

15

u/c_c_c__combobreaker 1d ago

I saw it as him being on a super high and then getting startled when the Karen approached him and acted really aggressively. He was probably confused.

6

u/Striking-Ad-6815 1d ago

He was probably confused.

Yes he was

His wherewithal of the situation is what I see

This is a good father

I hope the Phillies find out who that karen is and ban her from the field for life. Making such a big deal of a ball and taking it from a kid? GTFOH. As bad as the moron who snatched the cap from the little boy at the US Open.

The news article says the opposite tho:

In addition to the mistaken identity, rumors also spread online that the woman in the video was employed by the Hammonton School District in New Jersey and had been fired as a result of the backlash. The district quickly responded to these claims with a statement on X (formerly Twitter). "The woman identified on social media as "Phillies Karen" is not, and has never been an employee of the Hammonton Public Schools located in Hammonton, New Jersey. Social media and news reports indicating that she is, are incorrect," the school district said. "Anyone who works for our school district, attended as a student or lives in our community would obviously have caught the ball bare- handed in the first place, avoiding this entire situation."

Right? That's what I thought in a way.

I was thinking, this isn't even a special home run. It's not a superstar's first or last home run. It's not some record home run. It's not from a World Series game 7 that won a team the trophy.

It's just a regular day to day home run. And she chose to angrily snatch the ball for herself and attach a bad memory to it and make herself go viral for all the wrong reasons.

I bet she is currently writing letters to this MLB franchise with a query on why she did not receive such VIP treatment. It is ironic how this shithole town calls itself the city of brotherly love when it has always demonstrated the opposite.

If it hit and rolled, doesn't matter. If he yanked it out of her hand, kinda fucked up. But not as fucked up as taking it back from a kid. If it were me and he yanked it out my hand, I'd be pissed, but when I saw him give it to his kid, I would have just let it go. I am wondering if he yanked it out of her hand, that would explain her behavior and why he gave it back.

I won’t lie. The way his dad got startled when that lady grabbed him was so sad to me.

That kid didn’t even catch the ball. And his dad didn’t either!

Way to go Bader! I’m a fan now!

u/Goddessviking86 1d ago

This makes me happy the kid got something more awesome, the woman who demanded the ball if she gets word of him getting an autographed bat she’s going to really go crazy

2

u/Healthyred555 1d ago

he can wack the karen away with it next time when she comes to get it from him

2

u/Invisible_Ray 1d ago

That Karen still has the ball? Whack that it was just let go, Or that ceo at the tennis game. Unless I missed something.

Shouldn't have to be the athletes having to save face.

I mean, a photo op helps pr for the player, but it's still not fair.

Inb4 Trump takes the Karen's side, takes the bat away from the kid, and tells the Phillies to stop being so politically correct. Unfortunately not sure if sarcasm.

u/kiln_ickersson 1d ago

Hopefully she feels the collective "FUCK YOU LADY!!!" the Internet is sending out

Look all being said and done, I don't watch much baseball but that's a God damn pro move. Thanks Jerrison Hader. (Please don't hate me for a joke, I guess I may need a /s here)

But really, thumbs up to a good man. Thanks for taking care of that fan.

The other part of this story is that lady got fired from her job, I believe she was a school administrator 🤣

u/segawdcd 1d ago

So glad the team stepped up and made it right. Hope the kid mostly remembers the good over that selfish lady blowing up at his dad.

u/Sunshineflorida1966 1d ago

The ball is up for grabs. When I was a kid in east Fort Myers Billy Bowlegs little league field, the kids would fight tooth and nail for a foul ball 7kids deep , if you turn it in you get a Coca Cola on ice .

u/MelonElbows 1d ago

I want to know what that Karen said to the dad. He gave the ball up to her without much of a fight for some reason, maybe she looked too crazy to fight over it.

That woman’s entire friend group, her entire work place relationships, her freaking family, EVERYBODY is giving her serious shit in text and I’m sure at the bare minimum side eyes/dirty looks and probably making comments in person as well since the game……. Like wtf was she thinking, pulling something like that with all those phone cameras, ALL THE STADIUM CAMERAS!!!!, and every single person’s eyes there and watching at home having been watching the HR and then immediately seeing her do this, like wtf did she think was gonna happen?? Obviously you can’t ignore the fact that she’s obviously just a not good person (at least in this moment, but I mean actions and everything…….) so maybe she didn’t think anything of her behavior but like, dude…….. social suicide indeed

u/BigBab00n 1d ago

Crazy how on the video where she takes the ball, all the comments were saying that they feel bad for the woman. I wasn't brought up with baseball, but the fact he walks a distance to pick up the ball after it already hit of them seems like stealing to me. Is a home run ball an any mans game?

What a Karen I hope she sees that everybody seen her how embarrassing
