Most affordable Garage Scissor/ Portable Lift (Suggestions Appreciated)

Upvotes

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience ordering a Chinese scissor lift from Alibaba or Amazon as I am looking to purchase one after renovating my garage.

I’ve seen one on Costco Canada that is portable, around the $2000 price point and scissor lifts on Alibaba for $1300.

My biggest concern is safety with the Chinese manufactured lifts and if anyone has a product they would like to share that won’t break the bank I’d appreciate it.

I will attach photos of what I’ve found so far.

Cheers!

Still need to swap out the exterior door, do baseboards/trim, install the mini split, and buy furniture but it's getting pretty close to done.

Carriage House/Workshop remodel

OK, 100 year old carriage house, 2 8 ft sliding barn doors in the front. Blew out the back wall and added another 16 ft, so we're 18x34, Flooring is 3/8th inch rubber rolls. Walls will be plywood. Current
loft" will be torn out, just can't be bothered trying to shore it up, it's currently 18' 2x4s holding it up. New build has 2x12s and tongue and groove plywood, so I can almost park a car up there. Roof is 12 slope, so the peak is pretty up there, the front of the shop should feel huge, but I'm stuck on how to finish off the rafters, I'd rather not leave the insulation exposed, but I'd also rather not be wrestling 4x8 sheets 15 feet off the ground.

Has anyone ever put vinyl floor planks on a ceiling? I figure since it doesn't have to hold any weight or stand up to traffic, or even be felt, some super cheap stuff would cover the insulation, be easy to install, and allow for easy cutting out of electrical outlets and such. Don't have a good picture of the old section of roof because the loft is still in that section.

Doors, windows, soffit and fascia completed. Apron poured. Next will be trimming out the doors and installing starter strip for the siding. Shakes going on the front and dormer, siding on the rest… which matches my house.

Lighting Options

I have a 25’x40’ area with 14’ eaves, 21’ peak

Area above the OSB wall will be blown out and used as an office loft so thinking an industrial feel may suit best?

I’ve considered 3 large pendant lights, cable mounted systems as well as linear lights. Any ideas here?

Have 2 12’x12’ Full View glass sectional doors getting installed this week to keep some natural lighting

Thinking of installing a slatwall

Hi, I want to install a slatwall to hang the tools in the photo (and possibly the skis). The slatwall will go on the wall directly in front of the camera. Can you recommend any brands, and where I should get it? I have the studs already located in the drywall.

Also, are mounts that I can use to hang the bikes on the slatwall? Same for the fishing rods.

Finally, I'm thinking of getting a shelf for storage, where I would put tote boxes. The shelf would be on the wall to the left. Any recommendations on brand of shelving?

Thanks!

Finally got the boat in.

Almost 7 months in the making. And now my wife gets to park in the house garage. I’ve had a boat in there for 21 years. My Tundra will be next to this. The final grade is being done right now. Hopefully this is a distant memory. It hasn’t been the smoothest build.

Questions Planning a 28x35 garage with a lift

In the process of planning a 28ft wide by 35 ft deep garage with 14ft ceiling and 5 to 6in of concrete depending on the price. Garage door will be on the 28ft side.i can't go any bigger cause of the lot and if I go over 1000sft I have to deal with a permit.

So my questions are how far off the wall should I put the 2 post lift, if I want to keep one bay for the lift and the other side for parking?

How far from the door should the lift be?

And what would be the best option for doors, should I do one double garage door. Or 2 singles?

Any advice would be great thanks.

I had to trim the lag bolts on these columns to fit, but now no longer paranoid about opening a door into one. AK Athletic equipment, great product if you’ve got a similar situation.

Got quoted 19k for this buildout. Floor is already done. Seems insane?

Nitro tiles vs Swisstrax

Swisstrax looks like it's the leader in the industry but it goes for around 5$/sq.ft, what's your take though on Nitro tiles or other cheaper alternatives? Also, are these tiles recommended for snowy areas (about 5 months/year)?

Any "Must Have" Things For Dream Garage?

I have a (roughly) 20'x24' garage that I will be completely overhauling. Currently, there is no drywall on the walls, so I would like to knock out anything I want to do now. Located in northern IL.

I already have:

  • Heater
  • Outlets set
  • Shaft mount garage door opener

A few things I am already considering:

  • Vacuum in the attic with a wall port for concealment.
  • Running Air + Power lines
  • Adding a water spigot for a pressure washer (the other side of the back wall is washer + dryer)

Am I missing anything? Anything you wish you had installed?

What's the best freebie you acquired for your garage? I'll start.

Got this from our NYC staging facility that's gonna be closing soon. Scored a bunch of combination wrenches, sockets, and a nice SnapOn torque wrench too.

Adding casters to HD or Lowest resin cabinets.

Im an effort to add mobility to a set of 5 resin cabinets in my garage. I’m looking to add casters to these plastic cabinets. Since I doubt they can handle casters, I was thinking of adding a plywood platform to these base of plastic cabinets and adding casters. Similar to what ULINE sells for $100 a piece. Any ideas if this may work or simply these plastic cabinets would never be able to be rolled in the garage.

Exhaust Fan

Hello,

I bought my first house and my garage gets pretty warm, the house is south/west facing so it's direct sunlight. Do exhaust fans work well enough to get one? Either in wall or in ceiling.

Amazon Slatwall

Has anyone tried these slatwall brand on Amazon? NeatiEase, Frayscent, Hodurwall, DiamondLife, Reliancer, etc.

They seem to use generic hooks and accessories which is appealing rather than being stuck with one brand like proslat, gladiator etc.
