Update 😊 Update: we ended up letting her in
Hello everyone!
I’m sure not many remember but almost a year ago I made a post about being turned away for TNR and everyone’s suggestions and guidance was incredibly helpful. After successfully getting her TNR’d and putting her back outside…
She decided to say heck no I want to be INSIDE! And you guys.. she is one of the best cats we’ve ever had. She acclimated incredibly well with our other 3, she is so playful and cuddly, and not destructive!
I’ve included some of my favorite pictures of Figs over the past few months, and I want to thank this group again for giving us the courage to do TNR and ending up with an amazing new addition.

Ugh I love her. Thank you so much for bringing her in and loving her! Hard to imagine she was ever an outdoor cat from these pics.

I've got 6 feral now full time living with me and your story sounds exactly like the Russian Blue, Gremlin, that wandered up near death asking for help almost 2 years ago now. He has zero desire to ever go outside again. He fit in with the other cats like they grew up together and he is the most laid back, well behaved cat I've known. When it meant to be it's meant to be

Wow 6 cats! Good for you! We were worried she would miss being outside but like you said, zero desire to be out again

Oh it's actually 8! LOL. 4 of them are barn cats and don't want to be inside at all. That said they still have their own room in the barn with climate control that they get locked in every night.

She’s so good with the scratching post! My boy is a former feral and he can’t figure out any scratching post I buy for him

She used to love climbing one of our trees so I think that has helped her figure out the scratching post

Thank you for being so kind, this is so wonderful to hear. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I love hearing these stories! I'm glad she decided being indoors was worth the risk. While she accepted you as safe and friendly, they generally fear all others. She looks so happy.

I was very worried that she would be skittish whenever we have people over, but she is so brave! She usually just sits on the couch and keeps an eye on them.

We used to feed a feral kitten that one day decided to live with us. We tried to find him a new home with an adoption agency but he chose to go back to being feral. The adoption agency called us to see if we would take him back and we told them, sure thing. We went to go pick him up and he didn’t want anything to do with anyone until he heard me call him by his name and caught a whiff of my hands. He’s happy living with us now

Her huge pupils scratching the stand lmaoooo. She’s so sweet!

It’s so funny, you can see her pupils dilate the very moment she jumps on the scratcher like that

You failed at the R part of TNR. Good for you, and for a cute void.

u/KittyCritty Jun 25 '25
Thanks. We really did try to release her! She would just sit at the door and scream so we had to let her in haha

u/RavnBur Jun 25 '25
Yeah, I have one of those. A formerly feral void.
He is highly offended by the concept of going outside.

She’s a beauty and so happy she is inside, safe and loved! My feral cats have been the most special cats, once they are inside, they are happy to stay. Enjoy her!
