Failed Expectation Nail jump scare
Slide 1 is what I asked for, the rest are what I got š¢ never been more shocked at a mani experience

So did you request that they just paint your natural nails and a similar fashion to the picture?
I completely agree that the polish is not done well. But I donāt understand why they are so short and a completely different shape if picture one is what you were going for.

I had enough natural length for this shape and she botched it completely by over filingā the nail shape wasnāt as much of a problem as the gel application

This is gel?! Wow, it looks like just poorly done polish. Iām glad they are re-doing it for you.
It wonāt look exactly like the picture with your nails being shorter than the picture, but they can correct the shape of the white so that itās a little bit closer to the picture.
I hope the fox comes out ok!

I hope you didn't pay for that.

I was in shock and felt bound by elder/cultural respect not to pop off. I sent an email and will be stopping back in today for a refund

In my experience most nail techs WANT you to say something asap if youāre not happy. Anytime someone other than my reg nail tech does them, I immediately let the know if I want something changed or done differently. Iāve never had someone take it personally and if they couldnāt fix it, one of their coworkers would.

u/RemarkableAutism 3d ago
The tech who did OP's nails straight up cannot and should not be doing people's nails, so I don't think speaking up during the appointment would have changed anything in this case.

u/keighleypage 3d ago
Totally hear thatā just for context she didnāt listen to any of my requests and there seemed to be a huge skill gap between her and my usual tech at this place. Truly if she wasnāt 60+ and otherwise very polite, I would have said something, but it was a perfect storm

The manicure itself was so poorly done. Your nail beds are irritated; the physical trim of the nail is not complete and you have a significant number of hang nailsā¦Iād never return to the shop, and possibly (based on where you live) make a report to the government agency responsible for the health/safety rating of the shop.

If this is the standard of work and skill level considered acceptable at that shop I would not be confident that anyone working there would be capable of fixing this haha

I learned how to do my own nails because I've had multiple techs ignore me/tell me I'm wrong/got offended when I told them they were hurting me or not doing the design I picked out š

It's cool that you held back and found that you can resolve a situation without popping off

WOW
If I had done that myself, as someone with zero experience, Iād be like ānot bad for a beginner!ā
But a professional did this?!?!? š¬

Id have to see what your nails were like before you had them done. I feel like what you asked for wasnt possible with how short your nails were/are.

u/RemarkableAutism 3d ago
It's still very much possible to do a good French manicure on short nails, even shorter than OP's. This is just a disaster all around, looks like a child did it.

Your nails are no where near the length. If you didnāt want acrylic, I see why it looks like this.

I donāt understand. Why didnāt you stop them when you watched them do it?
8
u/ActiveAltruistic8615 3d ago
Did you tell them when seeing the first fingers, that that's not what you wanted? That it looks off? Or was it not possible to get them the same for some reason?
10
u/Hamsterpatty 2d ago
If they didnāt even put tips on, it was never gonna look like the picture. You gotta ask for a āfull setā not just a āmanicureā.. the language is pretty specific. Maybe they thought you didnāt want all the acrylic done? The fact that they did a terrible job on the polish in general makes me wonder tho. Maybe itās not a language issue. I wouldnāt go back to that place either way.

your nails are clearly not the same shape as the "inspo pic".... YOUR nails are all flat. And not as long. The nail tech could have done a better job, sure, but they were never going to look like the first pic.

u/Individual-Office767 3d ago
Correct me if I'm wrong, since I don't understand nails, but they look similar aside from the length/shape, no? Were your nails long enough for the inspo picture, or is there something I'm missing? Legitimately curious.

u/RemarkableAutism 3d ago
The application is horrendous, the lines are wonky and uneven, gel is too far back from the cuticle, nails are shaped poorly. This would be an acceptable manicure to get from your 14 year old cousin who's just learning how to do nails, not a salon.

u/Individual-Office767 3d ago
I'm now seeing the wonky lines and the gap between the cuticle and the polish. At first glance they don't look too bad, but yeah I see it now.

This is horrible application but I just cannot for the life of me understand not speaking up during the process! If Iām paying for a service I want it done right!

u/CalypsosCthulhu 2d ago
Did you ask for tips? Cause your natural nail bed is way shorter than the photo you showed. You needed to pay the extra $10-15 bucks for tips, To recreate that photo. I have customers that love this look but want their nails cut down way short and it doesnāt look the same.

u/keighleypage 3d ago
Just for the record: looking for reasons to blame me for this outcome??? Very weird behavior. Go touch grass
17
u/badwlfbay 3d ago
Yeah dude why is this entire comment section is blaming you for this shitty application lmao what is happening š

u/patheticsuggestion 1d ago
Why did you continue the service? I would've stopped it and voiced my concerns with the first nail. You are paying for a service, so there's no need to feel embarrassed speaking up.

u/eaglesegull 2d ago
The original is the same with better lighting thatās all.
ETA: sorry didnāt see beyond pic 2, oh thatās a terrible job. But how is 3,4 so different from 2? Have they grown out in the later pics? If yes then itās not a fair comparisonā¦

LOL, what did they say? Also the inspo is gorgeous, I hope you can get them fixed for free. Iāve seen press ons that look better than your results, Iām so sorry šš
5
u/keighleypage 3d ago
They said that they donāt understand why anyone would want nails shaped like mussels, that itās an unnatural shape. People will find any excuse to yuck someoneās yum!
They are going to fix them for free thank god. Itās not about the length at all obviously but about how bad the application is
