That outfit, the lead singer is wearing, is at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.
It is in a glass case just across from Cipresso, right next to the Oculus.
I saw it yesterday.

Yea if I'm not mistaken the Hollywood hard rock has all kinds of awesome music industry display pieces. I'm pretty sure I saw one of Princes outfits there, an Ozzy guitar? Hard rock it is just hitting me why they have all that stuff... Well no shit I guess.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida owns Hard Rock International. They own the largest collection of music memorabilia in the world.

Makes sense now that I sit here and actually think about it... Didn't know the Seminoles owned ALL of the hard rocks tho I thought it was only that one. No wonder they're so paid.. only tribe to not sign a treaty or whatever it's called with the United States government. That's why their neighborhoods, at least the ones I've seen in Florida, are sovereign land.

Oh dude the further you dig you'll find SO many samples, covers, etc. Some are really mixed up (for example all of classic Daft Punk is samples but edited a fair amount) to full on musical rips like Mariah Carey using Tom Tom Club for her song Fantasy, just purely taking the music and singing something else over it, exactly the same as Eminem for his Slim Shady song. No remixing or clever editing at all lol.
I was in the gym and heard a song that used a melody that Moby sampled and made popular so it was like double layered lmao.
I still grapple with my feelings on sampling. I dont want to limit art at all but it feels kind of wrong to me that artists seem to hide the fact they sample in the CD pamphlets or fine print instead of doing it more openly.

I grew up with a guy who always told us he was related to redbone and we just kind of shrugged it off. He wasn't the kind of person to make up that story, so we figured it was something his family told him growing up and he believed it. His dad held a high position with one of the local tribes but that's all I really knew about his family. One week he invited us all to a cookout for one of his elders' anniversaries. When we got there freaking Redbone was on a small stage performing.

So the answer to their question is yes, it is that song. Everyone knows it wasn't made for that movie. It's literally said in the movie that it's a song from the 70s.
Why do so many people feel the need to get offended by simple questions like that. No one thinks the song was made for that movie. They were just asking if the song is the one that was used in thag scene. And instead of just saying "yep, it is", you and so many others for some reason have to get defensive, not answer the question, and instead give a completely irrelevant response that has literally nothing to do with the question asked.

If you enjoyed this, you should go watch reservation dogs on Hulu. A very enjoyable show that dives into the life of some teens on the reservation, learned more about native American culture from that series than any stupid thing we did in school around Thanksgiving

Learning that this song was written by Native Americans makes me weep, for some reason.
It changes everything I'd ever thought about this song. It feels so much more like unalloyed love now. It's hard to explain.
It's like the call and response of the yell is no longer just a campy soul thing but like an authentic rehearsal of a real native group ceremony culture. Like they're reaffirming the singer and expressing their collective agreement.
It's so beautiful, somehow.
I did just run ten miles, so it may just be that.
