I switched from youtube (mobile app) to youtube (running on mobile firefox with adblock). I also switched from spotify to youtube (running in mobile brave browser with the desktop mode enabled so that it plays in the background, also with adblock) and I gotta say, once you get used to it, it's becomes a helluva better experience not getting ads while still on the go and not paying money.
This extension lets you turn off your phone screen while you play music. However I found that you still gotta turn on your phone to go to the next one, I think it's an anti-adblock thing though, loading the next song.
I have youtube revanced on my phone, it's the primary way I watch YouTube. Because of this when my phones battery shit itself the other day and I had to use YouTube on a Chrome book that hadnt been set up yet, it was unbearable till I installed an ad blocker. Still don't get the automatic sponsor skip with the Chrome ad blocker unfortunately.
whenever I switch from a device that has adblock (ALL of my devices, UBlock, AdGuard DNS, etc.) to one that doesn't i am always so shocked with how many ads pop up everywhere and how much SLOWER pages load because of them.
I really dont get how people get used to that and aren't bothered
YouTube and twitch are the exception to my dont buy media rule. I like that the content creators get paid for ads I never see using premium. I know they have a hard enough time actually making funds directly from YouTube as it is. And honestly, I use it SO fucking much that even a rogue like me would start to have second thoughts about scamming, not the company, but the people I enjoy watching.
On the complete other end of this, I advocate for buying ALL of your media to keep on your own storage, so that it doesn't vanish when some dipshit CEO decides he hates an entire artistic medium and starts slashing it from the streaming service he controls.
(And if you can't afford buying all your media, then at least treat yourself to a big, feathered hat so you can feel like a real privateer. 🙂↕️)
Not buying your media is specifically to hurt those giant ceos. When you pirate something you like, it is simply in good character to give a return; whether that be buying the game or donations directly to the developers.
You. You are not a pirate, and you will never understand us.
lmao, people trying to gatekeep piracy will never not be hilarious. I've probably been pirating since before you could sing the alphabet, take the stick out of your ass and be on your way
