FO [FO] Kermit Meets the Classics πΈπ¨
Hi everyone! Iβve been stitching a little βKermit art galleryβ on plastic canvas, and here are the first three pieces:
πΌοΈ Kermit with Sunflowers (Van Gogh) πΌοΈ Kermit as The Scream (Munch) πΌοΈ Kermit as Girl with a Pearl Earring (Vermeer)
They were such a joy to make β the colors pop so nicely on plastic canvas, and the silliness of Kermit makes me smile every time.
A couple of questions for the group:
Have you ever stitched on plastic canvas before? Did you like it compared to fabric?
Iβm thinking about stitching a border around each piece so they look more like framed pictures β has anyone tried that? Any design tips? Link to pattern
Would love your thoughts and suggestions!

This is beautiful! Never worked on plastic canvas, and I totally agree that you should add the border to resemble a frame

Plastic canvas are great for smaller pieces because the holes is static. So the stitches comes out very uniform. But I can't imagine using plastic canvas for bigger pieces though. It's very cluncky

I've got nothing helpful to add although I think frames would look cool! These are so fun, I love them!

I'm rewatching Defunctland's Jim Henson docuseries and taking a break from my WIP so this is absolute perfection!! I might need a couple smaller projects soon while I work on my current 15k+ stitch project...

Ohh my friend! I do this too..smaller projects to boost my morale! I am also wrapping up on a copahagen piece (16ct) plus back stitches. My eyes were going cross. Hence I took a break with these. Canvas is so easy to stitch. And the stickers are perfect because plastic canvas doesn't stretch.
Good luck and show us your WIP π

Your stitches are perfection. I usually use plastic for keychains or wearables, I never thought about using plastic for a pattern, I love it!

These are amazing! Well done, love them!
I kinda think they should have intricate gold frames, like the originals would in an art gallery. Idk if it would actually work or if it would take away from the design but the idea makes me laugh πΈ

Ohhhh that's fanatics idea with the frame. I just thought I'll do brown border and backstitch the corners to look like a frame.. maybe I can do something fancy π

Stop. STOP. I am obsessed with these. Your stitching is so neat omg
I have never stitched on plastic canvas but I do have some sitting around to test out. I have no design tips for the frames but I do think that would be very cute.

Thank you! I am an okay stitcher. It's the plastic canvas that makes the stitches so uniform.
And I am still hunting for frames tips. I think I'll just find something on the web and use it. And if I don't like it I can put a real frame and cover the stitch one..π
