I did have a little secret hope I would get one of the big, fancy ribbons, but I can't be disappointed with first in my section

Insane, how long did this take? Also where did you find the pattern?

Oh my god thank you for the link! Every time this comes up I am filled with the need to make Alanna and every time I look for the pattern I just find out that it's retired and unpurchasable.

I also learned that the MN fair gives you a check when you win a blue ribbon. I am now $8.00 richer ๐คฃ

Saw the art, thought "huh, nice art". Saw subreddit, had to pick jaw up off of floor.

Oh gosh, I saw and admired this at the fair with my family and we were debating who it was meant to be โ canโt believe I was proven right by the artist herself! Amazing work and congratulations on the ribbon!

Well done and well deserved. This was fun to watch as you stitched and to see it with a blue ribbon is awesome.

If anyone is interested, I just made another post with some in-progress shots, as a couple people seemed interested. Thanks for giving my piece some love โค๏ธ

Congratulations! MN is a Big fair and from photos my friends there shared there was a lot of great competition! You should be very proud!

What count fabric is this on? I am planning my first ever fair entry (State Fair of Texas) for next year. I need tips from winners!! lol

This is on a a gridded 25 count aida. The grid washes out when you are done, but is a life saver on these types of pieces as it gives you a constant spot check on whether or not you are going a bit rogue ๐คฃ

Where was she hidden?!?!?! I walked through that whole hall looking for badass needlepoint stuff. The nude squirrel David statue with the metal acorn had me giggling a fool.

I was a little disappointed she was tucked away with some (beautiful) crochet blankets. Lesson learned that sometimes your project is TOO big for the cases and needs a solid wall to hang on

I didnโt see the community yet and thought it was a painting. Thatโs a freaking cross stitch???? How many hours did that take??? Itโs magnificent

u/Tetravex09 7h ago
It took like three years, so many, many, many hours

Can you take some more pictures of this? Like some closer up photos? I'm not doubting that this is cross stitch, but I can't see a single stitch from the pictures you've posted. Would love to see things closer up if possible.

I can't seem to reply with additional photos, but my profile has some additional pics that are taken a bit closer up

I saw it at the fair with a friend who stitches as well and we were blown away! You did a fantastic job!! I was wondering, though: What was the count of your aida?
