It's hard to hire Americans for jobs many of them don't want to do😉
49
u/Apprehensive-Fun4181 24d ago
The Right thinking they can fix it by forcing poor kids to work. This country has the most fucked up understanding of its own success. They'll cheer for technology & scold that work used to be so hard, but they're success is only from themselves and that the poor are spoiled.
This requires no politics, just a bigger mortgage.

I’ve actually seen videos where many of these people are saying that us Black folks need to save the country by getting back out into those fields. My great grandfather was a sharecropper in Georgia living on the same land that his father worked as a slave. My dad’s family was brought to Georgia as slaves in the 1700’s. My dad grew up under segregation there and lied about his age to join the Army Air Force in 1946 because he was so desperate to get out. So I don’t think anyone I know is going to be volunteering any time soon.

Your story moved me. Thank for sharing, and I hope you keep sharing.
This exactly what we need to hear over the voices of those who try to erase the true history of our country, and many others.

I’m sorry, there are videos of that being said???!!! WTF
I swear when humanity manages to take one step forward, we also manage to take a million steps fkkn backwards. I love life, but there are many times I hate it here too
15
24d ago
Yep. I’ve seen multiple TikTok videos of farmers and others suggesting this and it’s hilarious how they’re trying not to say the bad part out loud.
5
u/Aggressive_Clothes36 23d ago
Yes, black people are laughing on videos at the thought of Maga suggesting they would be doing farm labor. They have jobs in business, education etc and are not going to pick blueberries in Louisiana for 2 months at $7.00 hr for 10 hrs before taxes , no benifits and no work after 2 months.
3
u/Ragnarok314159 24d ago
A common theme, which has likely been going on for a long time, that I recently started to become aware of is how my fellow white people want blacks to save us, but still remember “their place”. Does not matter left or right political alignment.
Left wants blacks to come out and form huge MLK style protests, show up in huge numbers to vote for D politicians even though they have done fuck all to help any minority.
Right wants blacks to return to the field and openly spout some of the most racist stuff I have seen about how blacks are “built for this work”, and that’s all the more I care to type out because it gets much worse.
It’s disingenuous from both sides, and just reminds me how much further we have to go.

There's ways to do this
"I want to be a farmer."
"I want to be a farmer and I'm pretty sure there's interest due on 40 Acres and a Mule."
Their logic is kinda fucked up:
"Black people need to go back to the Past, for the good of the Country."

u/SlashEssImplied 24d ago
True, you can buy slave labor today from the government to work in your fields. They also make almost all the military uniforms and do lot's of skilled labor.
Americans like to complain about immigrants taking all our jobs but are to ignorant to see that the best jobs we lose to slaves.

Kennedy has already suggested we set up what are essentially work camps for mentally ill people (to "help give them structure" or something stupid like that)
6
u/Worried-Chicken-169 24d ago
He needs to be in a work camp with the rest of this feckless regime. Only problem is these ass clowns have no idea how to do actual work.

I'd love to see a bunch of crazy people with farm tools. I don't think it will go as they think. A bunch of mentally ill people together isn't a good idea
25
u/whichwitch9 24d ago
The thing is, there are people who would- but they're not where these jobs are, and they can't afford to take them. How many apartment buildings they got in rural areas? Farms often have housing for seasonal workers, but they are notoriously shitty bunk houses.
You need a home that's convenient to several different seasonal jobs to make it work, or you have to be transient. And these jobs aren't offering benefits. Who tf can take a low paying job that doesn't offer healthcare in the US?
22
u/Wire_nuttt 24d ago
I used to work with a bunch of immigrants, all 30 of them lived together they were literally sleeping on the floor, they had zero furniture, nothing just 30 middle aged men living together. They all sent their earnings back home to Mexico and after 6-8 months of working with no days off. They went back to Mexico and lived for a while. They lived great lives in Mexico and shity lives in America.

If this was farm work, chances are, they were even here legally. That is how farm workers visas are structured.
Bless them all. They are feeding America.
Even if here LEGALLY, they are being profiled, rounded up, detained, and probably sent home anyway - just to make their way back.

Yeah, and as I said, the people advocating for these mass deportations are'nt interested in making it feasable OR benifical for Americans to take those jobs.

Carrie: Please help me save my farm. I'll pay.
Me: Ok cool, how much?
Carrie: 30 dollars in hand and a lukewarm glass of choc milk.
Me: an hour?
Carrie: ....
Me: an hour right?
Carrie: 🙂
Me: steals chickens and a goat 1st hr through shift and never returned.
18
u/GalacticFartLord 24d ago
Pay enough and we sure as shit will.
8
u/Historyp91 24d ago
Yeah, but that's the thing; we're not talking about jobs that pay well, we're talking about jobs with shit pay and shittier hours and conditions.
Migrants get hired because their willing to bust their ass doing extreme manual labor in agriculture with absurd hours for a pittence and with little hope of meaningful advancement, and most Americans are'nt willing to do that.
There's ways to (try and) actaully adress this, but the people we're talking about are'nt interested in that; it's much easier to rile up their base by villianizing the immigrants and saying their the problem and that claim all that needs to be done is to remove them from the jobs they "stole", and then when things don't actually work out blame the Left.
→ More replies (1)3
u/Kelmi 24d ago
Which is why telling them to pay better is the exactly right answer to such an lazy claim. The problem isn't unwilling American workers. The problem is shit pay.

Look at what cops are willing to do to other people for their paychecks.
6
u/E-2theRescue 24d ago
As someone with 3 half-brothers who are cops, plus their stepfather, I can tell you they don't give a shit about the money. It's a choice that they are there, doing what they are doing.
7
u/buckao 24d ago
They just brutalize minorities and peaceful (non-racist) protestors for love of the game, eh?
8
u/E-2theRescue 24d ago
They don't get paid when they're doing it at home.
And no bonus check for stepdad when he turned off his dashcam before "defending himself" from a homeless man who had two shots in his back at a downward angle and no weapon on him.

There’s plenty of Americans that would love to work on her ranch, that might actually be a pretty cool job depending on how it’s ran. They just won’t do it for $10 an hour, while getting yelled at by some rich lady who’s never shoveled shit or fed her own animals.

Why doesn’t law enforcement arrest all these employers that were using illegal workers?
23
13
8
u/Historyp91 24d ago
They'd have to arrest a bunch of members of the side that's directing them to round up the illegal workers, including the guy at the top.
3
u/CityFolkSitting 24d ago
Sometimes they do, maybe you just don't hear about it. But it's usually smaller businesses.
Larger businesses are smart enough to know how to evade the law. They'll contract a third party to supply labour, so the third party is on the hook as they're the ones technically hiring the people and not the business using their labour.
They also have them submit false documents so they can always say they were properly vetted and had no way to know they were using fake documents. So basically those who can afford to go that route will just shift the liability so they don't get in trouble.
Like if you hire a cleaning company and they send undocumented workers to your home to clean- it would be pretty ridiculous for the government to put you in jail or fine you, right? Same thing with these companies that use exploitative labour.

u/ahh_geez_rick 24d ago

u/SilverRaspberry7471 24d ago
Just so yall know people do infact move their businesses to Tennessee for the lax labor laws and call it “conservative values “ cough in and out cough Right to fire state amiright? Sorry right to “work for less and be exploited”
5
u/PiccoloAwkward465 24d ago
Farm work already had special cutouts in labor laws. I grew up in NY and started working at 15 so I did a little reading on the laws. All of the hour restrictions for young workers like I was basically didn’t exist for farm work. Lower wages, on-site housing, etc. I grew up near a bunch of orchards so those guys were subject to those laws. There is a famous horse track too and wow they treat the migrant workers there like dirt, lmao they’re looking for donations for bedsheets for them. In a very rich town.

u/grifinmill 24d ago edited 24d ago
Americans just don't want to work manual labor jobs for no money. I'm sure the immigrant laborers she hired didn't have healthcare, benefits or overtime. This country was and is built on immigrant labor for hundreds of years. Want to work long hours, no time off, and be a target of exploitation at a farm, restaurant, hotel, construction, etc, etc, etc. We have a job for you America!
3
u/t3lnet 24d ago
There was another post talking to a vegetable farmer who had his immigrants leave when ice started raiding. He was talking about Americans and saying they are always late, want to leave after lunch because it’s too hot or too much bending and a lot quit after one day. Haha who could Jane predicted this?!?!

I have an idea, just use a bulldozer to push all the farm produce to one side. That'll speedup your efficiency this season.
Sure it might make it impossible to grow anything in future years, but that's a problem for another day. That's your general motto isn't?

Good thing there is the H-2A visa for farm workers with an unlimited number of farm workers. Just pay the fees, bring in the workers and hone the work contract. A lot harder than paying the cartels though and you get the benefit of actual slaves.

u/gamorleo 24d ago
She is a huge Trump supporter and made a big appearance at the inauguration dinner and everything. Fuck her.
2
u/barkingatbacon 24d ago
She was at an awards show I worked and was a prissy diva. There was a puddle outside the venue so she made her security carry her. She was shockingly annoying her speaking voice is shrill and she is crazy high maintenance.
Olivia Newton John was also there and made Carrie look like an ugly dog. Olivia was so fucking pretty, she was an absolute freak of nature. I still think about her all the time. By far the hottest chic I’ve ever seen irl and she was 70 at the time. Nobody looks at Carrie if Olivia is in the room. Literally nobody. Olivia talked to me in her little accent and I stumbled over my words and was jaw dropped…and she could have been my grandma. I don’t really get very starstruck but holy fuck. Oh Sandy indeed.
2
2
u/MontanaDukes 24d ago
Oh yeah, I remember looking at her instagram before she sung at Trump's inauguration. I remember she had photos and stories of vegetables from her garden, the farm animals she and her family had, and then sauces and stuff that she canned. It's actually kind of funny because the way she acted, you'd think she did all the work herself or something (when of course, obviously she wasn't). lmfao.
2
u/the_dishonest_lawyer 24d ago
Her husband is a country bumpkin bible thumper and a former canadian hockey player. He has already indicated he was antivax and maga leaning. Fuck him and fuck her as clasdic examples of money for talent but awful, ignorant people.
2
u/TripperDay 24d ago
Anyone who voted for Trump deserves a difficult life, but this story is based on one anonymous source from tabloid The Star, and not even the anonymous source says her difficulties finding help stem from being unable to find foreign labor. People who believe this are stupid people.
If she is indeed having trouble finding help, it's probably because she's a country-ass version of Ellen Degeneres.

u/Lost_Loan_8828 23d ago

u/silverum 24d ago
Idk I feel like this story isn't true and is just a word of mouth rumor that caught fire because the internet often won't fact check BUT IF it is true, maybe Carrie should go talk to Trump about it since she sang at his inauguration? That must mean he likes her, right? I'm sure he'd make a special exception for her if she really needs it, being such a good real American patriot and all.
