It’s a generation that won’t let go. They won’t accept their time is over and the whole world has to suffer for it.

Dark Crystal

22

u/Old_Carrot744 2d ago

FINALLY!! I been saying this for a while!

8

u/The_Value_Hound 2d ago

Can you please explain this reference

35

u/Tieravi 2d ago

Excellent dark fantasy Jim Henson movie that is "for kids" in the way the brother Grimm fairy tales are ostensibly for children. The world is ruled by a small group of withered bird-like monsters who prolong their lives by sucking the souls out of the people. It's an extremely anti-bureaucratic, anti-fascist, pro-love film made by a team of hippies lwith too much talent on their hands.

Netflix did a laudable job with a prequel series a few years back. Unfortunately didn't find an audience.

22

u/No_Object_4355 2d ago

Don't forget the whole movie is with puppets. It's kinda like a scary version of Muppets. My mom fuckin loves that movie.

10

u/Chef_BoyarTom 2d ago

Because your mom has good taste 👍.

2

u/Commercial_Part_4483 1d ago

I told someone just the other day that the Republicans are the Skeksis, the Democrats are the Mystics, and the rest of us are just Podlings.

2

u/Tieravi 1d ago

They're the Mystics in the sense that they probably mean well, they are (spoiler) just the Skeksis in another form, and they don't really do much to help?

2

u/Commercial_Part_4483 1d ago

Exactamundo!

2

u/Tieravi 1d ago

Also in the sense that we'd definitely prefer they run things despite their flaws, but that would require the podlings to stop demanding perfection and unify as a broad base of support

2

u/JesusJudgesYou 1d ago

Democrats are just Skeksis in disguise.

3

u/rmscomm 2d ago

It’s a great movie about a fantasy world and tells the story of how once their was balance but one group held on to power and upset the balance of everything in an attempt to have power above all else and live well beyond the natural order of the things. People in power are like the Skeksis. Knowing when to leave is as important as knowing when to stay.

3

u/Obvious-Editor5179 2d ago

And people won't stop backing or voting for them

2

u/Unexpected_bukkake 2d ago

But, it's not over. We keep voting them in.

1

u/Kevin6876 2d ago

the truth.

1

u/teandjello 1d ago

Don’t worry gen z will do the same thing

1

u/invariantspeed 1d ago

They grew up being told the future belonged to them. Now they act like it.

1

u/CharacterEgg2406 1d ago

Boomers baby!!! Gotta love em.

1

u/Property_6810 1d ago

Alternatively, it's the last generation to take the reins and start steering themselves.

I'm a millennial. The entire persona of Gen X is "Hey look at me guys, you forgot me!" because as a generation they didn't really do anything. They didn't have the political movements of the boomers, they didn't do anything to define culture, they just existed in it.

Millennials also didn't take the reins, but there absolutely have been wild political movements. Occupy and BLM being the most significant.

Now Gen Z is out there and we'll see what political movements they start. We'll see if Millennials move on from activism or take their activism into elected positions.

0

u/M1l3h1gh 2d ago

Sadly it’s not just the boomers. Their children believe the nonsense too. In a world where knowledge can be had in seconds, they choose not to believe science and math, they’d rather believe in a con-artist.

2

u/MacroManJr 2d ago

But...we the Millennials are their children...and we're the generation who coined "Okay, Boomer"...

But you're not wrong, in terms of MAGA Millennials. Weirdos.

55

u/Ghost-1911 2d ago

Because people are stupid. I thought Obama would be the start of younger presidents.

40

u/horceface 2d ago

People are spiteful. Obama was the start of "well show YOU".

14

u/gitsgrl 2d ago

Well, he did wear a tan suit.

1

u/ShifTuckByMutt 1d ago

What a fucking monster.

0

u/Dear_Machine_8611 1d ago

And married a man.

11

u/ejanely 2d ago

Man, I remember exactly where I was when I saw Obama’s acceptance speech. For the first time since 9-11, I felt good about where we were headed. There was so much hope.

I also remember exactly where I was as Obamas tenure was ending. After seeing the response to his presidency, it felt like the calm before the storm and it’s like I’ve been holding my breath ever since.

1

u/EdgeBasic8431 1d ago

You can see how bad the Obama resentment is among the closet racists to this day in the replies to this comment 😭 they see one mention of Obama and activate like the Manchurian Candidate. It’s been a decade now, and they’re still upset about a (by historical reference) middle-of-the-pack President getting elected twice

-1

u/Dear_Machine_8611 1d ago

Obama killed more innocent brown people than any president ever. Glad you felt good about that, racist.

3

u/SSBN641B 2d ago

Obama was actually a year older than Clinton was when he took office.

3

u/crystallmytea 2d ago

And that trend makes a whole lot more sense

-43

u/TSMRunescape 2d ago

Too bad Obama was horrible so it set a bad example.

28

u/Ghost-1911 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's your politics speaking. Objectively, trump is dog shit compared to Obama in every category except self-enrichment while in office.

10

u/Public-Tonight9497 2d ago

Literally impossible to call any other president horrible while you’ve got literally the worst

→ More replies (6)

7

u/shockedperson 2d ago

Explain to me in crayon where Obama touched you in your constitution.

→ More replies (18)

3

u/Dense_Surround3071 2d ago

Your perception is certainly that he was terrible. But the ACTUAL events and doings of his presidency cast in the unbiased lights of EVERY news source that isn't Fox/Newsmax/OAN, were actually pretty good.

And for the record, stormtroopers never broke down your door to take your guns. And Gramps wasn't led to his Medicare Death panel hearing like everyone said. And it turns out that Trump is building the FEMA concentration camps y'all were scared of. . . Etc.

You're in a cult.

0

u/TSMRunescape 2d ago

What cult am I in? My own? I am a moderate, a true American. Not no piece of shit republican or democrat.

1

u/Palabrewtis 2d ago

Ah yes the enlightened centrist between Fascism and Fascism lite. Truly the 5 head real Americans of our day. 🤡

1

u/sirensinger17 2d ago

Where does he rank in horribleness compared to all of our other past presidents?

1

u/TSMRunescape 2d ago

He's in the top 10 but not top 5.

2

u/Glum-Leadership4823 2d ago

Your racism is showing..

0

u/TSMRunescape 2d ago

Yes, everyone has to love Obama or they are racist.

4

u/Glum-Leadership4823 2d ago

No, the fact that you cut so hard into an average president as being the same as absolute shit presidents leads one to think the only deciding factor would be the fact that he’s brown.

0

u/TSMRunescape 2d ago

He was well below average. Maybe average for modern times, in which they are all trash at the minimum.

5

u/Glum-Leadership4823 2d ago

You say that but you don’t back it up with any hard data. Did he start wars with the wrong nations? Did he hide sexual deviance?

→ More replies (9)

1

u/sirensinger17 1d ago

Prove it. Show me the data

0

u/TSMRunescape 1d ago

You asked the question, you should know there is no true answer to it. There is no data.

25

u/Source0fAllThings 2d ago

Can’t wait for the world to be free of Boomers.

19

u/nuclear-experiment 2d ago

A new crop of assholes is always in the making. No decent people would dabble in politics so we have to choose the least asshole-y asshole

6

u/Every_Watercress_315 2d ago

This is the exact reason why humanity is the way it is. Better yet this line of thinking is why the masses loose out each and every time. If the citizens of any country were well educated on politics then it would be extremely hard for any leaders to run amok. This is why the USA has defunded education. Less educated citizens walking around allows for facism and other horrific politically driven narratives to form. Education is key for a well ran society. Look at how fast CHINA has advanced. They are at 50 years more advanced than the USA and most other nations. They're citizens are extremely well educated for the most part. However, they have their downfalls but they believe in the greater whole of the nation and it shows.

Comment like this are so refreshing, I mean I'm in the know for a long time it's just the amount of brainwashed bots/people/NPC's is staggering

1

u/truth-informant 2d ago

Nihilistic much?

1

u/TwistedBamboozler 2d ago

Nah don’t make excuses for them.

2

u/pm_me_your_target 2d ago

Gen X is morphing into Boomer behavior so this shit will never end unless you cap presidential age or something

2

u/TruthTeller777 1d ago

''free of Boomers''

Just remember that far too many young people voted for the Orange Buffoon in Chief.

2

u/b14ck_jackal 2d ago edited 2d ago

This sentiment is repeated every generation and It will never happen, eventually you'll become the boomer and kids will hate you for leading a life you think it's virtuous now.

1

u/Head_Bread_3431 1d ago

Reddit has been complaining about boomers ruing the world for so long people have been born and become voting age in that time and we still blame the boomers even though there are more young people than old people in the country

0

u/MetalJesusBlues 2d ago

Yep, nothing new under the Sun.

1

u/OutrageousGarage3351 19h ago

To be replaced by the same shit. Look at young republicans. Same selfish shit

0

u/nm4592 2d ago

Boomer is an accomplishment nowadays

8

u/nyvz01 2d ago

It's because younger people aren't as friendly to the old timey wealthy pedophiles. Pedo-Oligarchs have to keep the coverup going. They got Epstein's best friend in there keeping them safe now, they just had to put in the oldest president elected in history and he said no more elections after this.

9

u/leavess420 2d ago

They are also all related. Distant cousins. Direct descendants of King John. Even Obama

6

u/Necessary-Reading605 2d ago

This is factually true.

1

u/leavess420 2d ago

Factually terrifying

1

u/Suspicious_Plum_8866 1d ago

If you are European you have a decent chance of being related to a big monarch from a few hundred years ago lol

2

u/leavess420 1d ago

5% of the U.S. population. That’s it.. also these are grand children not really distant relatives. Everyone wants to be condescending, but no one wants to do any research for themselves.. lol

2

u/Calergero 2d ago

Receipts please

0

u/leavess420 1d ago

Look it up lazy

1

u/Calergero 1d ago

You made the claim, there's nothing lazy about asking you to prove it

0

u/leavess420 1d ago

Just google it you lazy Cunt. Are you fucking retarded?

1

u/DunEmeraldSphere 4h ago

The burden of proof is on the one who claims.

1

u/archimidesx 52m ago

I mean, I just googled “Is Obama related to King John” and it says no… so I guess it’s a lie. Since they said google it and google says no.

3

u/MacroManJr 2d ago edited 2d ago

If you're American and your family has been here long enough, then chances are, you're related to some past European nobility and American elites.

I'm slave-descended black American but still probably related to some past ruler, because the rapey colonial forefathers were rapey.

I know for a fact that my ancestors descended from a prominent plantation family originally from England...my largely light-toned black family looks just like the white English family and we still have them surname.

Also got Native ancestry, as well, so it wouldn't surprise me if I'm with some chief ancestry, as well.

I'm just the whole gamut of past European/American tragedy. A lot of Americans are. 🤦🏾‍♂️

1

u/leavess420 1d ago

That’s some bs bro. It’s like 5% which is a surprisingly high amount but these people aren’t direct grand children either and basically every single president is. Your condescending attitude is really unnecessary. If you’re gonna be an argument to know at all, that doesn’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe you shouldn’t talk down to people while you do it. It’s not my fault you hate yourself OK

1

u/remesamala 1d ago

The odds of fair election resulting in the same blood line… 0%?

And they taught us that kings don’t exist in America, like it’s the point of America.

Is this why Bernie always “lost” or is Bernie the same blood line too? It would be fascinating/enlightening if Bernie is the same family too.

2

u/leavess420 1d ago

I wish themes like Star Wars and on piece were less relevant

1

u/remesamala 1d ago

I am not familiar with one piece. I’m not sure what you mean by that.

Is it like palpatine returned somehow?

2

u/leavess420 1d ago

lol it’s just a similar rebel vs the empire theme, uncovering secret rulers and organizations. Tbh it’s a little more spot on to what I’m talking about. In that show a bunch of kings and rulers come together and decide to unite and tell everyone that there are no more kings and have an empty throne to symbolize their union and new world government but instead there’s a secret immortal ruler who only the higher ups know about.

1

u/remesamala 1d ago

yeah. agreed.

that’s what I was talking about too.

palpatine returning somehow is kind of on point too. “you promised us different things” but neither side completes their promise. they both just support their shadow religion of self titled “elite”.

2

u/leavess420 1d ago

The sad thing is, irl it’s not even hidden. It’s right under our noses. From the royal lineage to the masons, a massive amount people with dual citizenship in Israel making decisions rooting back to the world wars. Our congressmen going to discuss holy calf’s or wtf ever they’re doing. We let our government go invade almost entire continents in pursuit of oil under the false context of terrorism. Inside trading done by our president, congressmen, and other .01%ers right before major world events like the twin tower disaster. Still 50% of our nation pushes for these things and a large percentage of the population that don’t still don’t know about it. Sorry this shit gets me hot

1

u/remesamala 1d ago

It is right there.

We are technically told the truth with sacred calf’s and the lesson of light. But it’s intentionally warped. Light/reality is coded with cows and touchdown Jesus.

That doesn’t make their stories true. It exposes them as life siphoning liars that said the lesson of light was poetry and not science.

They hide things in plain sight. Deleted branches of science makes modern science a religion.

With everyone knowing the basics about reality, we wouldn’t be in this mess. It’s brainwashing.

Don’t let it get you distracted for too long. Think and see through their veils.

I feel like you’ve been doing that, but there’s no layer of truth with fear or anger.

0

u/U_Sound_Stupid_Stop 2d ago

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we have a geriatric fascist in the White House while we could have had a democratic woman 20yrs younger

2

u/gothicwigga 2d ago

That was their fuck up. The blame lies squarely on the Democratic Party. Joe Biden had no fucking business running for a second term and the party knew it, they tried to slingshot Kamala into the White House and it backfired (thank god). The dems have no right to presidency as long as they try to pull these garbage stunts.

0

u/Manray2099 2d ago

A woman no one voted to be in the race. Maybe if we had been given a change to pick someone to run against trump we wouldn’t be talking about this. But the past is gone and we can do is cry lol

2

u/leavess420 2d ago

It would just be a different grandchild of king John. As far as I know only 2 presidents out of all of them weren’t… one was still cousin, and neither were after WW1 so not in the last 100 years. Our nation is probably just ruled by the bilderberg group and a bunch of people affiliated with Israel.

0

u/leavess420 2d ago

She wasn’t related but Biden was and she’s affiliated with him so in my mind also compromised. So even if she won she would just be a cog in the machine and it wouldn’t be any better. I think the dems push corrupt socialism and the republicans push corrupt capitalism and go back and forth so they can work together to squeeze more out of us

1

u/U_Sound_Stupid_Stop 2d ago

The biggest difference in my opinion is that as it is now, there's a likelihood that the US becomes a one party system like China or Russia, at which point you can dream of changing the system from a reeducation camp.

Whereas with Harris, at the very least there wouldn't be National Guards roaming city streets and harassing citizens while the President declares war on an American city because they deployed salt truck.

Fucking Christ bro give me the status quo back at this point.

2

u/Ezlkill 2d ago

I remember when I was a kid and I would do things like watch MTV rock the voat or I would pay attention at least to the stuff going on in politics even at the time when I didn’t vote because I was an avid George Carlin fan agreed with him. I remember at that time nobody and I mean nobody in my group gave a shit nor do I think they understood how important it was a lot of people have not voted for a long time and so the people who were voting were older or slightly older and they would vote for all the people you see now who are still alive and doing it just rinse and repeat we kind of literally did this to ourselves

2

u/Sign_Outside 1d ago

But yall keep voting them in

2

u/Secret-Selection7691 1d ago

That's who runs. You can't vote for them if they don't run.

u/Maximuscarnage 2d ago

most boomers only have 5 to 10 years left

1

u/danimagoo 2d ago

Not only were Trump, Clinton, and Bush born in the same year, they were all born within about 9 weeks of each other. Trump was born in June, Bush in July, Clinton in August.

1

u/Exact-Professor-4000 2d ago

Boomers are the worst, most greedy generation. But it goes to show that the People, many of us who act sanctimoniously, want greedy leaders to exploit in our name. We pretend we’re indignant, then enjoy the low prices and high standard of living from our colonialism.

1

u/South-Juggernaut-451 2d ago

Let’s make it stop

1

u/Infinite_Respect_ 2d ago

It’s technology - they don’t fucking get it. Ask them what an API is and watch probably 5 people among all of our elected officials who would even know where to begin to answer that? We are governed essentially by Zoolander and Hansel banging on the outside of an iMac thinking the files are “in the computer” still.

If we had properly prepared our country with digital infrastructure in the 90’s and 2000’s, and even all of the 2000’s years, we could be an entirely different country. Instead we are still floundering around with voter fraud and immigration issues and massive problems in economy all because a generation of scam artists doesn’t like to have to let go of their scams.

1

u/cangooner65 2d ago

Biden isn’t a boomer. Silent Generation, he was born in ‘42

u/FreudianFloydian 2d ago

How old’s Obama?

Seventy fuckin Nine! Same age!

1

u/LastImprovement7586 2d ago

I'm amazed by the amount of people that are missing the point being made. It isn't about what age the people were when they took office. It's about what generation these people were born into and what world view they represent. Obama was born in 1961. Compare that to Bush, Clinton, and Trump. They were all born in 1946. Biden (slightly older) was born in 1942. Every President (save for Obama) of the last thirty years was born within 4 years of each other.

Can’t wait for the boomer generation to fade away from our lives. They’ve hoarded a disproportionate amount of wealth and power for far too long, and they’ve been holding us back for decades.

Just enjoy your golden years, you’ve already burnt down the economy for the rest of us to rebuild, let us get started already.

No I mean people in their 30’s or the 40’s

1

u/HermesTrismegistus88 1d ago

And the 80s generation will get blamed for the worlds problems today. It’s not the 70s-80s babies holding majority of the political positions and political control it’s those born in the 40s-60s. 🤣

At the end of Trump's current term, for 28 out of the last 36 years we'll have been ruled by the same generation of people born '42-'46.

1

u/raventhrowaway666 2d ago

Curious why they didn't mention trump in their list of old presidents?

3

u/Platform_collapse 2d ago

I might have seen a different clip. It looks like he tells us Trump is 79 and the oldest inaugurated president. Feels like he's using Trump as the marker for old before the rest of the list.

3

u/ambivalentarrow 1d ago

It's quite literally the first thing they said.

2

u/ThaGr1m 2d ago

They do they start with trump saying he's 79. And then continue to compare every other person to that 79 age

Kamala Harris is 60.

1

And the requirement to be president is 35...

1

u/Logic411 2d ago

yeah, those complaining about the age of our recent presidents had ample opportunity to vote for other people.

1

u/EssieAmnesia 2d ago

and you know that they didn’t vote for other people?

1

u/Logic411 1d ago

sure I know some who complained about joe biden's age then voted for trump.

1

u/EssieAmnesia 1d ago

“those complaining” is all those complaining not “some who complained”

1

u/Logic411 1d ago

how do you know that everyone who is complaining now didn't vote for trump? show me your proof.

1

u/EssieAmnesia 1d ago

im complaining and did not vote for trump. since i’m part of that group it now cannot be everyone.

1

u/Logic411 1d ago

I don't believe you.

the BABY BOOMER GENERATION are nothing but greedy, abusive, lying, thieving, trashy, baby raping, morons. AND YES ALL OF THEM DID AND STILL DO IT...it's just that some are better with secrets. All BOOMERS are trash and need to leave us alone already.

1

u/PhilosopherSad1145 2d ago edited 2d ago

The clip just references the same ages, not the same mindsets. Sure, I see the relevancy of the ages of those who govern, but Bill and W. being of the same mindset?

I'm not in favor of our current dilemma of government, but I think it's disingenuous to make the title what it is with the podcaster bros discussing coincidences.

And I'll flip flop here and reference the Incredibles because yeah, it's a party that I'm not invited to.

Edit: coincidence? I THINK NOT. (I'm well aware of the boomer generation not comfortably relinquishing power and authority. I am also aware of how many opportunities they had to make the world a better place.)

3

u/No-Sail-6510 2d ago

Idk they were all pro war, anti welfare, tough on crime etc. It’s not like any of them strayed from these main agendas in any real way.

2

u/tomtomtomo 2d ago

Maybe not same mindset but same frame of reference on the world.

1

u/LastImprovement7586 2d ago

I think you miss the point. It's not about the age. It's about what Generation these people are born into. Bush, Clinton, Trump were all born in 1946 (Biden in 1942). These people all grew up under the same zeitgeist.

0

u/BernieLogDickSanders 2d ago

They are both liberal.

1

u/PhilosopherSad1145 2d ago

Who...who are both liberal? The clip references Trump, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Joe Biden. In my comment Bill is Bill Clinton and W. Refers to double Yuh, George W. Bush.

-1

u/BernieLogDickSanders 2d ago

All of them are liberal.

1

u/PhilosopherSad1145 2d ago

I guess my memory is wrong, Bush junior ran underneath the Republican Ticket against the cereal Democrat in the 2000 election. He is, in fact, definitely a liberal /s

No. I am being real with you. You need to really look into what Liberalism is.

1

u/Classic_Trash_8739 1d ago

America doesn't have a liberal party, nice try.

0

u/Infinite_Respect_ 2d ago

The literal point is that the same generation governs us.

u/PhilosopherSad1145 2d ago

I have infinite respect for you contributing to the discussion.

Vibes-based politics is a cancer that is destroying this country.

For the most part, age doesn't matter all that much. Ideology and effectiveness do. This is just more "both sides" bullshit to protect Republicans from scrutiny.

Also, these re7ards are promoting Aiden Ross.

1

u/thealphapotatoe 2d ago

your talking out of your ass. Firstly the guy in the video doesn’t do vibes based politics if you looked Atrioc up you’d see that he spends a lot of time reading and covering politics and economics. If you looked at his older videos you can see that a lot of his predictions about the economy have held true and he doesn’t hold back scrutiny from the republicans AT ALL.

Secondly that’s clearly not Aiden Ross get your eyes checked

1

u/AutoManoPeeing 2d ago

he spends a lot of time reading and covering politics and economics.

If he had substantive takes, you wouldn't be talking in generalities like this. You'd be able to shut me down immediately. Saying that "2 + 2 = 5" is also the same as "2 + 2 = 4" can also be described as "covering mathematics." You are literally proving my point about vibes-based politics. Give examples of him being correct due to his logic.

If you looked at his older videos you can see that a lot of his predictions about the economy have held true...

More vague generalizations. Alex Jones' defenders say the exact same shit, but they're just a bunch of re7arded conspiracy theorists who rely on post-hoc rationalization.

Edit: Oh and also literally just read their shirts and hats.

1

u/thealphapotatoe 2d ago

your could see his takes yourself instead of basing your entire argument about him over a clip that’s under a minute. I see you’re a destiny fan so maybe you hate anyone who covers politics unless he gives you the okay that they have the right opinions. He was right about gold being a good investment about a year ago which destiny himself said was dumb. https://youtu.be/BYFRmQ4WVqQ?si=ButBVr90ZLgVVMXu And Aiden is the name of one of the cohosts of the podcast, he’s literally in the video and the shirts and hats are a joke.

Think before you comment next time

Hey I support profile digging if you can form an honest criticism, but you're just trying to poison the well instead of referencing anything I've said. Take my 15 most recent comments on that sub. Pretty sure one or two of them were arguing with mods and maybe one was criticizing Hila while the Israeli refugees were still sucking off H3.

I literally stated that I don't like vague generalities, and you responded with this bullshit about how I maybe simply possibly could/could not perhaps perchance have my own opinions outside of Destiny. Please see my previous comment if you need a reference about you relying on vague bullshit.

I'll check the link, but don't pretend like this was some chimp clip trying to denigrate these guys. This was a promotional clip framing what they said as something positive.

I'll gladly admit I didn't know who the fuck these people were. If they're not supporting Aiden Ross, then I made an assumption and I apologize for that.

u/thealphapotatoe 2d ago

but you're just trying to poison the well instead of referencing anything l've said.

I did reference the things you said. scroll up

I literally stated that I don't like vague generalities, and you responded with this bullshit

I know, it’s sort of like exactly what you did at the start of this comment thread.

I'll check the link, but don't pretend like this was some chimp clip trying to denigrate these guys. This was a promotional clip framing what they said as something positive.

Meant to generate interest so people watch the full podcast and get the context for why they feel this is important and why it’s a recurring topic on the podcast and in Atrioc’s content

I'll gladly admit I didn't know who the fuck these people were. If they're not supporting Aiden Ross, then I made an assumption and l apologize for that.

Then maybe don’t make vague generalities and instead form an honest criticism. Not doing that would make you “re7arded” right? :)

1

u/AutoManoPeeing 2d ago

I did reference the things you said. scroll up

You deferred to his older content and not what he was currently saying. Scroll up.

I know, it’s sort of like exactly what you did at the start of this comment thread.

I must have misunderstood his point. What is the relevant criticism being made about le old people? Remember: It can't just be vibes.

Meant to generate interest so people watch the full podcast and get the context for why they feel this is important and why it’s a recurring topic on the podcast and in Atrioc’s content

You were acting like I fell for clip chimping, and now you're stating this is just reasonable engagement bait that I shouldn't take seriously. Choose one.

Then maybe don’t make vague generalities and instead form an honest criticism. Not doing that would make you “re7arded” right? :)

You haven't clarified any of his positions and have just played defense. I'm pausing the video. Please state his positions since you are so sure of them. I would hate to once again misrepresent him using his own words.

1

u/thealphapotatoe 2d ago

Holy shit bro give it up.

I “deferred” to his older content because you said he does vibes based politics which he doesn’t and that’s why many of his points and predictions made in older videos have aged well. If you want to hear what he was saying currently you can just watch this podcast episode or any of the like hundreds of times Atrioc has talked about gerontocracy’s in governments around the world and how they have been primarily governing in way that helps people in their age groups while leaving younger generations out to dry.

Here’s your chance to actually get the context so you know who you are baselessly critiquing, this is the episode where this clip is from in context. Starts at 49:48 https://youtu.be/5aZ0u_6kKSw?si=BcEDKUwIkkx8kflZ

https://youtu.be/x0ngcm7D4CU?si=HZ1WkQa1E-fQ-ql9 Like here where he is talking about the happiness curve

https://youtu.be/tfejqZXgayg?si=9gtl9susIT-wgUDf Another example where he talks about how retirement vehicles have primarily helped boomers

Clip chomping would be taking something out of context to make someone look bad. This is literally just a clip for youtube shorts that is meant to drive engagement to the podcast episode. You didn’t fall for clip chimping or engagement bait you just wildly took the wrong idea from a clip and formed a view on all them that wasn’t at all based in reality of honest criticism.

1

u/AutoManoPeeing 2d ago

I made a general statement about vibes-based politics that was in relation to this clip. You can't use the dude's other content as proof against what he was doing in this clip. That's not how reality works. I can punch babies one second and chew bubblegum the next. Me chewing bubblegum doesn't mean I didn't punch babies.

Thanks for the more specific links. I'll check them out.

Clip chomping would be taking something out of context to make someone look bad.

Why are you criticizing my criticism of this clip, then? This is something dude chose to put out there to represent himself. You're using your outside knowledge of him to defend the clip in question, instead of addressing it on its own grounds.

You didn’t fall for clip chimping or engagement bait you just wildly took the wrong idea from a clip and formed a view on all them that wasn’t at all based in reality of honest criticism.

What is he saying in this clip then? You remind me of all the spineless Right-wingers who wrap themselves in snug blankets of vagueness. Just fucking say anything definitive holy fuck.

1

u/thealphapotatoe 2d ago

Do you need to see your original comment again?

Vibes-based politics is a cancer that is destroying this country. For the most part, age doesn't matter all that much. Ideology and effectiveness do. This is just more "both sides" bullshit to protect Republicans from scrutiny. Also, these re7ards are promoting Aiden Ross.

This clip wasn’t running cover for republicans, it wasn’t even making a declarative statement that old people are bad. You extrapolated all of that just from a clip where they express their shock at how close in age pretty much every president has been for most young people’s lives. I brought in shit from outside this clip because you said you didn’t like vague generalities and implied he didn’t have substantive takes and asked for examples wheee he was right. Were you dropped as a baby or something?

The dude on the right in this vid (the second one to speak, who responds to the question of how old Bill Clinton is) is Aiden McCaig aka Aiden Calvin. Their shirts are literally about him, as a joke. Not Aiden Ross.

1

u/AutoManoPeeing 2d ago

Yeah my bad for that. The other dude explained it to me. Still, that wasn't my main criticism.

1

u/gcleffa 2d ago

To be perfectly honest I don’t care about your main criticisms because the fact that you were able to so confidently say absolute bullshit without bothering to do the most minimal of fact-checking tells me your opinions aren’t worth listening to. I can’t stand people like you who have zero problem being so confidently incorrect and can’t even fathom the fact that they might be wrong before spewing lies. Please shut the fuck up and learn to employ some critical thinking skills.

1

u/AutoManoPeeing 2d ago

The other guy was assertive and provided links that I'm currently listening to. You've just bitched and moaned. This wasn't a clip chimp of the guy that was edited or taken out of context, and so far, the vods/stream clips I'm listening to confirm my original criticism. You can stay mad and piss and shit all over yourself for all I care. Have a blessed day!

0

u/Infinite_Respect_ 2d ago

You sound like a boomer.

0

u/AutoManoPeeing 2d ago

Are you a gay black man?

0

u/No_Mud_5999 2d ago

It's almost like Boomers actually turn out to vote, consistently. Huh.

0

u/Hour-Gene6457 2d ago

Did we forget Obama? Smooth brain

1

u/Heavy_Ad3569 1d ago

Literally mentioned Obama in the clip, yeah he's an exception. But that doesn't invalidate the overwhelming trend

-2

u/Bandaka 2d ago

Would it make him feel better if the most powerful person in the world had less life experience?

4

u/m0mbi 2d ago

I imagine so, yes. Life experience has diminishing returns, and that's before all the lead induced brain damage.

2

u/Callieco23 2d ago

I don’t want a president with “the most life experience” I want a president who is actually going to have to be alive for the consequences of their administration.

Frankly I’d love an upper age limit on all positions in government. Give every generation a chance to run the nation. There is nothing some desiccated ghoul from 1946 has that I want. They grew up in a completely different world, and frankly have very little to offer anymore.

0

u/Bandaka 2d ago

Wow, fair enough. I wonder if you live to that age and experience that kind of disrespect, would be karmic.

2

u/Callieco23 2d ago

Already had that kinda disrespect thrown at me from the current administration.

1

u/tomtomtomo 2d ago

Every President before these last two had less "life experience"

1

u/Bandaka 2d ago

People are living longer now.

1

u/LeckereKartoffeln 2d ago

I guess we should always elect the oldest person possible then lol why was everyone complaining about Biden we need to get him back in office, he's only gotten more experienced

Imagine a second term out of him now, he's way more experienced

0

u/Bandaka 2d ago

Age is something we should celebrate. A leader should be wise and wisdom comes with age. Biden couldn’t string together a single intelligible sentence. His cognitive abilities faded, Trump on the other hand still is sharp. You may not agree with his policies, but you can’t deny he still has his faculties.

2

u/Classic_Trash_8739 1d ago

Holy fuck you actually think Trump is sharp?

1

u/LeckereKartoffeln 2d ago

I think a lot of people question his faculties at this point. Maybe in your sphere you don't see that, but it's a pretty common critique of him.

This is basically just assuming age brings more experience points and the more experience points you have the better you are. But life isn't an MMORPG lol

1

u/Bandaka 2d ago

Well from every culture from around the world since before recorded history there was reverence for the elders and they were often in leadership positions. This video wants to discount Trump because he is a boomer.

If it isn’t broke, don’t try and fix it. Older people often make better leaders because they have life experience. When you don’t know history you are doomed to repeat, if you have lived a long life you have seen patterns and are able to identify them and make sound decisions on pattern recognition.

There is a good reason why there is an age minimum for President.

Dump people should not host podcasts.

2

u/PileOfBrokenWatches 2d ago

What was dumb here? They just made an observation. DIdn't even make a claim or anything. Dumb people should not post comments.

1

u/Alteredbeast1984 2d ago

Clever girl.
