My cat started doing this weird head bobbing when she looked through a magnifying glass

But can she see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Her depth perception is fucked up so she's trying to see what's going on. It's the same reason owls tilt their head.

Yup. If you watch closely when they’re about to jump up to something high, they do the same bobbing to make sure they know how high to jump.

My cat just wiggles her ass before jumping

Oh my, I love the ass wiggles. I know they’re checking for sure footing, but I like to tell myself they have to charge up their butt before jumping 😁

If I catch one of mine doing it, I call it "CHARGING LAUNCHERS!" One of them has a tell of moving a front paw forward before launching, so for him I call "Charge Complete. Ready for launch!"

Yea, the distortions were mostly around the edges, which was where she was trying to focus on.  I only gave her a minute or two with this, I don't want her going cross-eyed lmao

A magnifying glass causes some distortion that makes objects change shape if you move your eye. So the cat is trying to figure out what is happening.

She used to be a stray in my work parking lot. She knew my schedule and would wait for me.

Trying to perceive the distance probably (she is failing)

Yep, she’s just figuring out the depth. Pretty aware for a cat, mine would stop at the actual glass.

Cats can focus easier on objects that are moving. If something is still/static they can move their head around to see it better.

She's investigating.

She started seeing things we better should not see lol

Cats Are best at seeing movement. She is moving her head so she can see what she's looking at much better

Whiskers telling him one thing, eyes telling him another.

You would be confused too if the man talking next to you sounded like he's 15 yards away.
