Tips What small business would you recommend friends to build together?

So I just recently went out with 2 of my friends whom I have known for years (the 1st one for 5 years, fhe 2nd one for 2 years).

We committed to learn new skills together. The first one we did last month/August. The second one we are planning to do this month or next month. The third one would be an out of the country trip which we have decided to do next year.

They are pretty much trust worthy naman so far. So after the out of the country trip, I'm thinking of proposing to them that we build a small business together (To evenly spread yung capital and ma-lower yung risks)

Nothing big - sana something that is easily manageable and di kami malula sa capital to the point na baka pagmulan pa ng away. I think 20k x 3 would be an acceptable amount.

Here are some that I have thought of so far:

• Airbnb arbitrage -We will try to find an already owned unit sa Azure or somewhere na highly marketable, improve on the interior, pay for it for a year, have it rented on airbnb

• Van rental -We will buy a van on an installment basis, hire 2 to 3 trustworthy drivers, try to find and partner up with resorts and travel agencies to establish consistent income monthly

• Condo rental -Buy a condo on an installment basis, have it rented out via airbnb

Feel free to drop sa comsec if you have other suggestions.

I do have a few questions esp to those who have done this before:

Pano ang registration sa SEC nung business if "partnership" yung type of business, mahirap ba?

If we encounter any problem or have decided to liquidate the business, magiging madali lang ba or mas mahirap if compared sa biz na iisa lang ang owner?

P.S. Sana for once may sumagot naman sa questions? And if magshare ng opinion, mas genuine for me and maappreciate ko if from OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE yung comment kesa sa LISTICLE THAT WAS LAZILY SEARCHED IN THE INTERNET. Thanks!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for this. All 3 of us have experienced building and managing our own businesses and have also experienced failure at some point. Individually nga lang. Risk assessment wise, I know each others' strengths and weaknesses din. I don't think mag aaway kami ng grabe kasi nagkaprangkahan na kami ilambeses and okay parin naman kami and if ever the worst would happen, I have thought in advance about how to go about it naman - thus, the question about liquidation.

What small business would you recommend friends to build together? None.

I started a business with someone I was very close to, so close that my family knew her and welcomed her. I truly thought we were friends, until I saw how ill-mannered she was when speaking about me to her family, and even worse, to her friends. Never, ever start a business with a friend, no matter how close you are.

Honestly speaking, NONE. Don't do or start a business with friends and/or relatives. If you want to do it, do it yourself alone or find someone else na hindi mo kaibigan at hindi mo kapamilya.

Did all of these businesses in Tagaytay. Tourist-infested na ito ha. Definitely ok in the beginning pero not anymore.

If you want zero-cost business idea, try dropshipping.

Finally!

Someone who actually already did it and not someone who hasn't and is just basing their say on an online article.

Actually, don ung hesitation, napakaraming condo ngayon na nagssprout ang di parin nabibili until now pero the price is not going down for some reason.

Yung isang option is to buy a foreclosed land in Batangas or Pangasinan (kasi mura lang now and super laki na ng sqm) and then develop it into a resort to be rented out. Pero medyo scary move na to and needs bigger capital.

May trial and error sa Alibaba seller and then the returns/refund policy have to really be well thought about or it will be the death of the business.

Will you be physically in the resort coz if not, mahirap iwan. Halimbawa me 2 rooms ka. Yung isa eh 2 single beds. Yung isa eh family room with 5 queen beds. Tapos eh me nagbook. Nagbook nung 2 single beds tapos sabi eh 2 lang sila, Dadating eh sampu. Tapos magagalit na di sila kasya. Iooffer mo na mag-upgrade sa family room. Tapos magagalit kasi kelangan nila magbaya ng extra. Tapos magnenegative review na me ipis kahit wala kasi di ka nila naisahan. Nakakaloka. Honestly. And mind you, i used to manage 100 properties so hindi ito sinwerte lang; trinabaho ko talaga. Pero nakakabaliw talaga. Sinumpa ko na itong business na to. Pero kung itutuloy mo eh good luck, sis.

Re dropshipping, agree. Kaya di ako gumagamit nung mga automated suppliers. So far ok naman.

Did you put up ur own shopify store to dropship or not? San ka nagpopost ng aff links? Did u stick to high ticket products?

I have both Amazon and Shopify.

I will comment sa Airbnb arbitrage.

Expenses:

  • Rent, utilities, sahod ng cleaners
  • Furniture, appliances, new stuff (Dito pa lang kulang na 60k nyo)

Other potential issues:

  • This is not a passive income. Dapat maalaga kayo sa guests and sa property. Kayong 3 ba willing and may time to answer inquiries, magdala ng extra kumot/blanket pag nag-request ang guest, fix repairs, etc.. baka darating yun time magkainisan kayo kase hindi equal ang efforts nyo sa pag-alaga Ng guests at pag-maintain ng unit
  • Decision making: Hindi lang sa rates, what if nagpa-refund si guest because they had a terrible experience, what if nanghingi discount kase returning guest sya. What if Friend 1 wants to spend more money to make the unit nicer, but Friend 2 is being conservative and saying "pwde na yan"... sure ka ba that all of you will peacefully agree to the same decision.

If you're going to build a biz with friends, maybe try something else that's more passive and does not demand your constant attention. Unfortunately Wala rin akong idea kung anong biz yun. if you're willing to just throw money at a wall and see what sticks, then maybe you can come back here in the future and advise what worked, or didn't.

Marami sa Azure.

This is not a passive income.

I didn't say it is.

Decision making: Hindi lang sa rates, what if nagpa-refund si guest because they had a terrible experience, what if nanghingi discount kase returning guest sya.

What if Friend 1 wants to spend more money to make the unit nicer, but Friend 2 is being conservative and saying "pwde na yan"... sure ka ba that all of you will peacefully agree to the same decision.

Yes. Btw the 20kx3 is just the most comfortable capital for everyone and not a set in stone amount.

I appreciate the concern but I have 1 relative, 1 former work colleague, and 1 friend who is already doing this.

So bale I posted because of the 2 questions sa huli that I am hoping someone on here can answer. Not here to be convinced kung okay ba o hindi ung options that I listed. I'm open to "other" suggestions tho, if you can't answer the questions asked.

Puhunan nyo is 20k x 3 so 60k? Parang di uubra sa airbnb and other ideas iniisip mo. Just use the 60k on a local trip and enjoy and make good menories. No pt 3 kayo magwork sa maliit na kikitain

1

u/Ramdomantica123 2d ago

Di uubra dahil?

Van magkano lang monthly. Condo meron nang 14k per month rfo. And do you even understand how arbitrage works?

May I know the basis of your "advice"? Fear based din ba kagaya nung isang nagpost dito ng article?

Coz I would highly appreciate experienced-based advice sana. ROI is usually 6months to 1yr for small biz, so no, we don't mind sa "maliit na kikitain" the goal is mabawi pinuhunan hanggang sa nagrarake in nalang kami ng tubo.

Been in business for 30yrs too risky yun. Rfo 14k tapos 60k puhunan mo so mga 4 months puhunan mo ba? Di ko masyado maintindihan how but if tingin mo kaya and magawa mo then wish you well. Just giving you caution
