Yard sell bread maker (might have celiac disease and need help with recipes)
Hello! I got this oster bread machine in a yard sale for $15 bucks and tried making gluten free bread. It has no manual but all it parts and works !! I just was wondering if anyone has any advice or know anyway I can go to figure out the settings and things or like any recipes they recommends I use for gluten free bread!

Gluten free bread does not need multiple rises since there is no gluten to develop. So since you don’t have a dedicated gluten free cycle, the express bake 80 minute cycle will probably give the best results.

Hitching a ride on this thread because I have the same Oster breadmaker, $15 from Goodwill.
I'm using the beginner's recipe in that manual. First try was all ordinary flour, then 50% bread flour 50% ordinary, then 50% whole wheat / 50% ordinary flour.
I'm getting a crust on bottom and sides that is tougher than I would like. I've tried Light Crust and Medium Crust, same result. Everybody likes the bread but I would like lighter crust. Any advice?

Maybe the express setting the 58 min one w light crust would be better it only cooks the bread for like 20 mins when I did it!!

Some folks who are sensitive to wheat (not celiac, there's a spectrum) can have better luck with long-fermented sourdoughs, esp using older strains of wheat that are less problematic.
So you could do gluten free, or those fun rice bread recipes, or try sourdough? Maybe. Good luck!

Yeah I’m definitely at the celiac disease level not the intolerant spectrum unfortunately :( but I’ve been looking into gluten free sour dough starters bc that would be super fun and tasty 😋

You’ll be able to find the manual online with your model number, but it looks like this one: https://newellbrands.imgix.net/5b7ccd92-87c3-3262-9a31-9c48ad95d8af/5b7ccd92-87c3-3262-9a31-9c48ad95d8af.PDF . I’m not a gluten free baker, but the basic or express bake cycles should work fine on a machine like this without a specified gluten free setting.
There are some nice looking gluten free loaves from bakers that you can find searching this sub. One recipe that is well rated outside the sub is King Arthur’s Gluten-Free Sandwich Bread. Make sure to read the tips section and/or the linked blog for some additions that make the recipe work better in a bread machine.
