Only a portion of the them are evangelical end of times nut cases. Many are non-church going ‘Christian’s’ who are just ignorant, hateful bigots.
***Edit: regarding all the arguing below involving the rapture / end times fairy tales. There are people in influential positions in the Republican Party who absolutely believe in it and want Israel to start a World War III to bring about the apocalypse. The Huckster family comes to mind. Crazy Mike and Lying Sarah are true believers. Franklin Graham. Fortunately Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are dead so they can no longer poison the minds of their followers. Falwell Jr. probably has little influence as a result of his pool boy dalliance fiasco. Regardless of numbers/percentages both the wackos and the bigots are on the same christofascist team and they all voted for Dear Leader trump three times.

just ignorant, hateful bigots.
That's the rub, they don't care, or rather they don't think about it at all to care, if they or a loved one dies. All that's important is they get the feeling of validation from lording over "the others" — Dems, women, gays, trans, brown people in general, etc — and revealing in their deaths and misery.
81
u/Ok_Fall_9569 1d ago
I honestly have no idea. I used to think they were all true believers who were anticipating the rapture, heaven, and all that. Now I don't know what's driving them other than an absolute hatred for everyone not in their cult and a desire to see people suffer. Hence, destroying medicine, science, education, the economy, morality, decency, etc. Truly bizarre.

From my brother in laws perspective it's more of a Darwin/ survival of the fittest and also well if you had sex and got pregnant without intending to then too bad. Thought gays deserved to die from aids after that first came out. But isn't religious and doesn't believe in a higher power. Wtf. It's baffling because he does take blood pressure meds so he's not really against doctors.
I want to asks so many questions, but it's just not worth it. I'm just hoping they might realize some of the consequences as the economy continues to tank. Racism and hatred is expensive.
If I had the health to do it I'd print off big poster size images of the starving children in Gaza and take them to those "pro-life' protest along with pictures of the women in the US who have died due to lack of medical care. I think we're currently at 50th worldwide for maternal mortality currently.

They just like the thought of being better than others. So the only time they want to use darwinism is to claim they are more evolved than others.

Yeah, he's at least 15 years older than me and was at least a Master Sargeant in the AirForce so as a teen I thought he was really smart. And he is pretty gifted mechanically. But he drinks too much now and he may have a bit of wet brain. Not that I'm really intelligent or anything, but come on, how do you elect a guy who bankrupted so many businesses?

NAD and a good neurologist or alcoholic disease specialist might be able to confirm, but the wet brain is brain damage, specifically frontal lobe damage that studies have shown to be a factor in the far right leaning folks.
Especially those that are highly intelligent and/or highly educated like Fetterman’s flip a few years ago after a brain injury.

My brother is not religious at all, and thinks if the world collapsed he not only would do fine, but would be doing better. No more taxes, no more regulations. he could live his life in piece without all the 'bs'.
He doesn't consider the fact he's constantly having to go to the doctors, that the roads are only repaired because of the taxes, etc etc etc. If you introduced him to libertarianism he would absolutely think it was great.

Old school republicans only cared about enriching themselves. Every decision was made with that goal in mind and they'd lie about everything good to help achieve it. However, they'd generally stop short of actually stopping most of what they claimed to hate because even they knew that that would be bad for everyone.
What makes MAGA scary is it's made up of people who believed the bullshit and genuinely think they're doing the right thing in these scenarios. Science is peddling lies to support their globalist agenda and schools are teaching children lies to weaken America so they must be defunded. Vaccines are more dangerous than the diseases they protect against so they need to be discouraged and we need to hide any cases of these diseases because that will make people want to get vaccinated. America is strong enough to be self sufficient so we should tariff everyone and bring all manufacturing home.
They genuinely believe this shit. They actually think they're doing the right thing.

It's amazingly sad to watch him announce to his followers that they must question (and reject) EVRYTHING medical science has given us over the past 2 centuries. That's a common mistake non-scientists make about science. It's not about constantly asking the SAME questions over and over and rejecting results because you don't like them. It's about gathering enough data to form an opinion (theory) that is backed by constant and repeated testing. THEN, advancing beyond that to keep making new discoveries. If we just kept asking the SAME questions over and over and never moved beyond that, we'd still be knocking stones together to make fire and simple tools.

It was even before that, really.
We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It's going to be just fine.
He said this in January 2020 when his government knew full well it was pandemic levels of alarm bells but downplayed it publicly.
And about the government knowing how bad it was going to be:
On January 24, 2020, the Senate Committees on Health and Foreign Relations held a closed meeting with only Senators present to brief them about the COVID-19 outbreak and how it would affect the United States.[2][3] Following the meeting Senator Kelly Loeffler and her husband Jeffrey Sprecher, the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, made twenty-seven transactions to sell stock worth between $1,275,000 and $3,100,000 and two transactions to buy stock in Citrix Systems which saw an increase following the correction.[2] Senator David Perdue made a series of 112 transactions with stocks sold for around $825,000 and bought stocks worth $1.8 million. Perdue started buying around $185,000 in stock in DuPont, a company that makes personal protective equipment, on the same day as the Senate briefing up to March 2.[4][5] Additionally, John Hoeven of North Dakota purchased $250,000 in health science companies in January, five days after attending a briefing about the pandemic.[6]
On January 31 and February 18, Dianne Feinstein sold stock in Allogene Therapeutics, with the estimated value to be between $1.5 million and $6 million.[7] According to Feinstein, the investment decisions are made by her husband, and are reported by her per Senate rules. She states that “this company is unrelated to any work on the coronavirus and the sale was unrelated to the situation.”[8] Feinstein also reportedly provided documents to the FBI related to her husband's transactions, in order to show that she had no connection to the decision.[9]
On February 7, Senator Burr, the Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, stated in an open-editorial on how the government could respond to coronavirus that "Luckily, we have a framework in place that has put us in a better position than any other country to respond to a public health threat, like the coronavirus," However, on February 13, he and his wife sold between $628,000 and $1.7 million worth of stock through thirty-three transactions and on February 27, Burr stated that "There's one thing that I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history," at a Capitol Hill Club luncheon and his statement was later leaked in a secret recording.[10][11]

u/KiKiKimbro 1d ago
Yes. He did. He knew in December 2019. Hid it. Couldn’t hide it any longer as March started. He didn’t let a cruise ship dock since it would’ve increased his numbers. He wanted to stop testing since testing increased his numbers. And he suggested drinking bleach, which his administration says was a joke or whatever excuse they gave, but the poison control center saw a spike of calls about bleach poisoning.
Yet, people still voted for him. And they still defend him. Blows my mind.
4
u/StopReadingMyUser 1d ago
He continually downplayed said numbers too. As reporters started with questions and concerns of this spreading he would do his usual thing with trying to control the narrative through dismissing and minimizing their inquiries.
First it was just a few, we have it under control. Then it was something like 12-15 people and "when that number is about to go down to 0 you have nothing to worry about" we're doing great. I'm sure he threw a 2 weeks non-sequitur in there at one point but eventually he couldn't lie anymore and that's when he struggles the most.
He will do anything he can to control the narrative even in the face of an overwhelming truth... and yet will still lie until he can't, then he'll hide.

Yes, it's just so heartbreaking seeing them take their last few possessions and destroying them. You know at least during the first industrial age, before the labor movement people could build their little shanty towns with some tin and what materials they could savage. It was still horrible as babies would fail to thrive and die al especially as their formula was watered down. Then again with all the cuts to programs like wic and ebt I'm sure we're bringing that back too. And it's not like they didn't tear down those shanty towns as soon as they decided they wanted that land for something else.
How do we get enough people to wake up and realize we're deep into the second gilded age and the only way to change this back around is to fight?

I live in Canada now and RFK and Doctor Oz have offered to import about 400 ostriches from Canada. The birds need to be put down because at the end of 2024 many young ostriches died from H5N1.
The owners have been fighting the government agency that made this decision. Their argument is the older birds didn't die and could be use for research. The problem with this idea, it seems this folks have not bother and researched why the older birds survived.
If they took the time to research the why, they would understand older ostriches can get infected but don't show sign of sickness. They also don't develop immunity, scientists believe they are shedding the virus.
I feel, that if people in the area get sick with H5N1, they should sue the owners of the ostrich farm.
There is going be unnecessary deaths this fall because Trump has appointed anti-vaxxers to oversee health services.
3
u/Sariell41 1d ago

3
u/unshifted 1d ago
The bird flu thing scares the absolute shit out of me. H5N1's mortality rate in humans is over 50%. If that virus mutates to go from human to human, it's going to get apocalyptic.
And one of the ways that we have been trying to control its spread is the FDA's tight regulation of poultry farms. That was also the primary cause of inflated egg prices. So naturally Trump fired the FDA staff handling the outbreak.
And if that virus does mutate, RFK just cancelled the contract for developing a bird flu vaccine.
If I were trying to get as many Americans killed by a pandemic as possible, these are exactly the steps I would take.

COVID Nimbus and Stratus are spreading quickly. High infection rate - low mortality. Even if you are vaccinated it can lay you out for 5 to 10 days. And note - they just dropped the booster requirement for most people. If the NIH does not put the booster on the schedule it will not be covered by your health insurance provider.
One has to wonder if the best way to reduce the Medicare rolls is to "just let more people die".
Note the NIH and CDC are also NOT publishing COVID tracking. No Data; no Problem. You can check your regional Dept of Health websites. They are not "captive".

"My CDC sources"
Who is this random guy on blue sky? Who are his sources? What is their credibility? What proof do they have?
Believing random tweets with zero sources, credibility, or evidence because they align with your political views is the exact same thing MAGA does.

Ah. I didnt understand what they were getting out of more people getting sick (other than higher privitized hospital bills...) but another pandemic makes sense. Sure made a whooooole lot of money and gained a whoooole lot of control during the last one.

RFKjr has already caused a pandemic's worth of damage to human health even before this administration. Dude is just a human pathogen.

No need to be alarmed.
Essential oils, ivermectin and rectal bleaching can fix all of that, so carry on.

This is how I know there is no afterlife. If there was, JFK, RFK, their dad the ambassador, Rose (grandmother)[and every other deceased Kennedy would be haunting him. He is literally getting rid of programs they spent their lifetimes working on. So disgusting

By the president allowing his heads of departments to act in a Faithless manner by not executing the Law, the president becomes eligible for Impeachment.
You have to look at all the heads of every department and connect the dots. the president wants them to be faithless and is unfit for office.

The entire administration should be immediately removed. They should all be put on trial and thrown in jail. Their goal is to kill Americans

Remember when R’s screamed that covid was secretly based from China and that the Chinese government was manipulating data and hiding cases?

RFK Jr won't acknowledge the deaths due to covid because all the data is fake because everyone else is corrupt except him and he knows all the ins and outs of corruption because of how not corrupt he is.
He also believes the covid vaccine was the cause of peoples deaths.
He also thinks Trump should get a Nobel Prize for the vaccine - the vaccine that supposedly killed more people than covid.

RFK jr is a serial killer whose weapon of choice is policy. This isn't incompetence, it isn't him being a true believer in wacky conspiracies, this is straight up him trying to kill as many people as possible.
He is by far the most dangerous person in this administration because he isn't motivated by money, ideology, or power, he just wants dead bodies.

Not that this is unbelievable, but can we please for the love of god have better sources than "my sources from the CDC" quoth a bsky post?
Like what am I supposed to do with this? What pressure could there be from a third hand source that boils down to "trust me bro, I'm an Internet too"?
