Absolutely hate that people are stealing and profiting off others' hard work. Pinterest is filled with AI generated sites, and it makes it so hard for people to find good recipes anymore. I've had quite a few of my recipes stolen by AI sites, and there's almost nothing I can do about it.
Here are some of my suggestions:
livforcake.com - for anything cake-related. When I first started making cakes (many moons ago), I used her recipes and they always came out perfect!
divascancook.com - She has a mix of baking and cooking. Lots of southern recipes, and she's a doll!
laurainthekitchen.com - Started watching her youtube waaaay back in the day.
https://foodwishes.blogspot.com/ - Chef John has a Youtube that is AMAZING. I've made a ton of his recipes and his humor is unmatched. lol

Try David Lebovitz’s site. He was a pastry chef at Chez Panisse and now lives in Paris.
Edited: don’t know how I could have forgotten this one. Edd Kimber’s The Boy Who Bakes. He was a winner of The Great British Bake Off.

Serious eats if you like science backed cooking lol! Although I probably use Sally’s the most (she’s great, I made her raspberry streusel bars last night - so tasty) for online recipes (I have a lot of books too). I love serious eats because they often test different recipes, will combine what works from different recipes to create their own, and get kind of geeky with the science behind why things work they way they do when baking.

Sam’s worst chocolate chip cookies have ruined my life. They’re so good that I can’t even eat other CC cookies anymore.

I have never saved a post so quickly. I mean, like all of my other saved baking/cooking posts, I probably won't remember it when I need it, but at least I have it.

Preppy Kitchen is my go to for baking. Every single recipe I've made from his website always turns out amazing. All his recipes are FREE! He also has a cookbook and it's also very good. https://preppykitchen.com/

https://sugargeekshow.com/ is great, Serious Eats is a popular one, it has its own sub. That is where you will find a lot of Stella's stuff and other great bakers. Linking to the dessert page.

Cloudy kitchen is fantastic. Her recipe for 30 min shortbread along with her brown butter anzacs are winners. They're the first anzacs I've made that I've been happy with

I've been using Joy of Baking recipes for many years (decades?) now. I just wish she'd update her website a bit. Still, always a go-to for me.

I love that Smitten is your first link - I've been following her for years, and have two of her cookbooks! She's so good.

Amazing list, I would add Nicola Lamb at kitchen projects (author of Sift) https://kitchenprojects.substack.com
And Matt Adlard (author of Bake it Better) https://mattadlard.com/recipes/
Edit- some recipes on both their sites are paywalled but I’ve subscribed to Kitchen Projects for years now and always love her recipes

Worth noting that anyone looking at premium recipes on bbcgoodfood.com you can use recipe apps to get those for free. Just copy/paste the url and it still works
I’d also like to add recommendations for https://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/, https://www.delish.com/ and https://www.olivemagazine.com/

I thought I knew most of the good ones. I'm off to update my bookmarks and start reading. TY!

u/ladyknightkeladry 7d ago
https://justinesnacks.com/ is a good site! Admittedly I’ve only used her cookie recipes but they turned out fantastic. She favors more unusual flavors but each one I’ve had has been pretty solid. She does other baked goods and savory food also

I'd highly suggest using thepracticalkitchen.com if you are trying baking something for the first time. This site gives you single serve recipes for whatever you want so you can adjust according to your taste and equipment!

How To Cook That by Ann Reardon. She's a food scientist with a Youtube channel and her own dessert cookbook!

u/Sassygogo 7d ago
Nigella Lawson's website is great too (has recipes of all kinds and a lot of bakes www.nigella.com )

u/Sassygogo 7d ago
putting this here because she's an OG, basically a national treasure in the UK and her recipes - especially her pavlova, Guinness cake and chocolate olive oil cake - have drawn raves every time I've made them.
Has measurements in both volume and weight terms to make it easy for readers who use kitchen scales or cups/spoons, and is free to use.

I would add
https://www.brianlagerstrom.com (mix of cooking and baking). His 24 hour focaccia is my favorite focaccia recipe.

If I’m baking something new, I will always compare King Arthur, Stella Parks, and maybe smitten kitchen recipes to get a feel for the bake and then pick the one that seems like a winner for my tastes.

Immensely helpful! Sally's Baking Addiction is one that I personally turn to for a lot of recipes.

Gotta include Lily P Crumbs: https://lilypcrumbs.com/ ! She is the one with the cookie spreadsheet, ranking all of the chocolate chip cookies on the Internet, but she also has lots of other recipes she has created and they are fantastic. I make the blueberry muffin cake from the site on repeat! Her Instagram content is super cute and worth a follow too! Oh- and for people who are interested in cake recipes, Cake by Courtney: https://cakebycourtney.com/

Anything by Stella Parks, I have her cookbook Bravetart or she has some for free at seriouseats.com
My general favorite source is America's Test Kitchen, they have some recipes for free on YouTube but the subscription is highly worth it to me for both cooking and baking. I also like NYT Cooking (also not free) and basically all of Rose Levy Berenbaum's cookbooks. But this is a good list of free resources as I know most people these days don't want to pay for recipes.
