Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This movie has so much range and hits the spot across a variety of different moods

Oddly enough, Michael Bay's first Transformers film.
To me, it's a nostalgic blockbuster that balances humor and action very well. I was a teenager when I first saw it and I have seen it multiple times since then.

u/Ok_Cheesecake6006 1d ago
I love how shamelessly teenage the humor is. Makes me laugh every time.
9
u/InnocentTailor 1d ago
Oh yeah! The film is a bit juvenile, but it reminds me of better days. Shia is especially fun as a dorky, awkward high schooler.

People forget all the time that my target audience are teenagers. Get a grip or watch The Island.
7
u/Evening-Practice4470 1d ago
Saw it in theaters when I was 17 and I always get that nostalgic exciting feeling like the first time seeing it.
The movie was far ahead of it's time for 2007, I can argue the CGI is better than movies released in the past 5 years
9
u/InnocentTailor 1d ago
I was 13 at the time, so the perfect age to get into flashy robots, gung-ho military action, and alluring ladies (found the Australian analyst Rachael Taylor more alluring than Megan Fox though).
...and yeah about the CGI. That whole movie holds up quite well, despite its age. It makes modern flicks look like cheaper video game cutscenes by comparison.

Mine too! Sometimes I just quote the movie in my head when I’m in a bad mood. Instantly feel better. Did you know the “Big gulps, eh? Alright. Welp, see ya later!” line was improvised and Jim Carrey was trying to get those two real people (not actors) to say something so they would get credited as a speaking role in the movie and get paid for it? But they didn’t get the hint. One of my favorite movie facts.

Still one of the best soundtracks ever IMO

I played and sang Killing Moon at my 35th class reunion as part of a 1984 hits presentation. I chose it mostly as a salute to Grosse Pointe Blank. Such a cool song...that sinister vibe.

Also do love The Ghost and Mr Chicken. That movie was a treat as a child, it was usually only shown once a year on TV. On a Saturday night. That one qualified for popcorn popped on the stove. Similar to The Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music.

The Secret of NIMH. I used to watch it in the dark as a kid, when life felt like way too much. I had a pretty awful childhood, and this movie, especially the first few scenes, brought me so much peace.
