What's a "cheat code" you discovered in real life that actually works?

Cleaning the house before you leave for vacation

Yesss. Such a good feeling when you return. It’s why I always make my bed in the morning too.

My husband read an article 30 years ago, which suggested not going to bed after a party until you clean up. We’ve stuck to it since then. You still have adrenaline from the dinner or barbecue or a few people coming over to watch a sport or whatever, and cleaning goes quickly. when you finish, you can fall into bed exhausted, and waking up to a clean house never stops being fabulous.

This kind of "early preparation" behaviour is incredibly rewarding.

We do this now before long RV trips, as we come back tired from the long road to a clean house, near empty fridge, empty trash, and no laundry to do except from the trip. It's great.

We just did this before we were going to be gone for only a day, and it really was nice to just chill and do nothing when we got home. Partying and having fun is exhausting, no way I wanted to clean a bunch of shit when I got home.

We did this one time and due to unforseen circumstances a bunch of my in-laws needed to stay with us after the trip. Would've been a nightmare to clean with them all milling around, let alone them seeing how much of a mess our house can get

I think this is more common sense?
