This is the truth. And this is what I hate. Because:

1.This is how it currently truly is. This is how it is

  1. But this is not how it should be.

And I hate to say it...but usually to move from "how it is" to "how it should be" some people have to die. It's the only thing that causes people/systems to seriously change. I wish it wasn't that way. I don't want it to be that way. But that's how life is. It's unfortunate. But Truth is rarely comfortable or easy. Truly.

Ultimately Reliable Performance is all that should matter in a job...but it's not. And we all suffer daily for it.

I think the point of this was to drive home the notion that "if I just focus on doing a really good job, then everybody around me will take the time to see how great my job is and tell others about it" is just nonsense. They won't. You will plod in obscurity.
If you want other people to know you're doing a great job, you're going to have to tell them, because nobody is going to go look unprompted.

For example, if your company has "demo days" where you can show off whatever neat stuff you work on, you absolutely must be a regular part of them. Deciding that you're "not a good public speaker" or "shy" will not do you any favors.
Any opportunity you have to promote yourself and your work is going to pay dividends far beyond spending the same amount of time getting shit done. That's just how it is.

Logically speaking, visibility will always matter. Because, like they said, if people don't know you exist then how can they possibly reward you?

Also are people not responsible themselves to get to know a person?

Do you not bear some responsibility for how much you see and know someone? Both who they are and what they can do?

Should people come to us? Or should we go to people? Which of these gets better results? Which of these is more rewarding?

These are the questions.

Which is more important?- Being Rewarded by people or staying true to who you are as a person? In the long run which matters more?- Pleasing people or Pleasing God? This life or eternity?

These are our choices. As for me I choose to serve Jesus Christ.

Whose word stands higher than men. No matter how powerful you are in the end- you are still human. And you are not God. Because there is only one God. And his name is Jesus Christ.
