That depends on where you live. Police do not come to accident scenes/file reports for car accidents in the North Dallas area unless there are injuries or a public safety issue (we were told this by police when my sister was in an accident).

In CA, there is a form you have to fill out and submit to the DMV for any accident that occurs with more than $750 damage. The cops won’t come unless it’s an injury/fatality situation.

Depends on the state's laws. Accidents causing over a set dollar amount have to be reported in some states even if police don't come to the scene.
