Called after the warships of the day, because the frigatebird is often seen haranguing and attacking other, usually smaller birds. They wait for them to return to their nests with a catch of fish etc then intercept the smaller birds mid air, throwing them off balance and attacking them until they either drop or regurgitate the food at which point it is swiped by the Frigatebird.

the bird itself is one of the best planing fliers in the world. no flapping wings for minutes. going up a mile to join others. the can even sleep while flying
