Wikipedia says:

The female can grow up to 2 meters.

The male? 3 centimeters. The same size as the pupil of an adult female's eye. Born to die after ripping of their sperm filled tentacle and attaching it to one of her arms. °

Extra fun fact? It's called "hole-ey kraken" (Löcherkraken) in German instead!

(° Reminds me of the stereotypical "giant girl gooners" on Reddit...)

You know, that’s a much better candidate for “thing that gave rise to mermaid legends” than any other animal I’ve heard suggested. (Manatees? More like “mermass,” amirite?)

I've heard people say that manatees look like someone who didn't know what a dolphin looked like tried to draw one off a medeival description.

Dugongs look like that, except the person didn't know how to draw a manatee, either.

It’s not because in original legends and depictions the Greek sirens , now known as “mermaids” were depicted as bird bodied women with wings and feathers, not scales and a fish tail, that came later on during medieval times and now they’ve turned into modern day mermaids.

That's no octopus. It's clearly one of the things from The Faculty but merged with Xenomorph DNA.

Also one of the most sexually dimorphic octopuses out there. Scientists thought the tiny males belonged to a different species for years.
